Dragan Solak: "I promise you that we'll bring to you at the end of the summer the team that will take you out of your seats and excitement will run high at St Mary's."

Assume we're not at that point yet...? How many more signings still required, and at what level, for Dragan's "promise" to become reality?

Assuming we're not at that stage yet, how will we know when we've reached that point...?

If they really want something like that then it's going to have to be a top striker and someone like Jordan James. Not sure we can afford both

Alfie house suggesting we go for a cheaper option up front. Personally I think that would be nuts unless we are very certain the player we go for is going to be at least as good as Stewart. Feels unlikely to me.

Unlike Alfie to go down the contrarian click-bait path... ;)

Based in what? I know Alfie house mentioned him but there was no suggestion he was itk.

Perhaps Alfie already knew something was being worked on.

Given it was a solemn promise from Dragan, they don't have any choice but to build a team of that nature and stature, do they?

Unless the thinking was / is: "the team that ended last year was exciting and got fans out of their seats, ergo, as long as we keep the majority of those players then Dragan's promise is fulfilled"...?

Man City loan again?
We’ve had a real mixed bag of young players from them.

For every THB, Charles & Lavia there is also a Larios, Bazunu and Angus Gunn….

We found money for Dobbin. Hard to believe that fee was absolutely everything we could afford with or without the Charles fee.  I'm not expecting £30mill on a striker  As I said *some* of the money.

Yep, we found it, now we've recouped it.

I'd like to see us spend, but given the £99m we owed in transfer fees, we don't have spare cash for transfer fees.

We now need to sell to buy, or Dragan needs to put cash in.

Would be up for Mubama on loan, for sure. He's been doing well on City's preseason tour and he's looked a handful when I've seen him

With 5 goals in his career in 36 games which is basically a goal a game if you do the math, Mumbama sounds like the sort of key signing a title chasing team would be making.

This is how I interpreted that. He gave assurances that if we would not sell off the team and replace with BBD’s

Is this the mystery signing alluded to last week? Spors deserves a degree of trust after last year but on the face of it that's pretty underwhelming.

I'm in a group chat with a City mate who has been raving about him during preseason. Two goals, an assist and MOTM in one of the 3 games (against Inter, I think)

I thought he was the sort of profile we would go for. Makes sense IMO

Absolutely the sort of profile we would go for.

Mubama on loan would be great. He looks very good. Ideal if we can get an option on him so we can sign him permanently if he does well and we go up.

He’s suggesting using the loan market instead and saving the money for next season when hopefully in premier league

Tipped Mubama last season as top league goalscorer. Was a terrible tip in the end and I'm pretty sure he got sent off against us didn't he? Anyway, he's really good and I'll happily tip him as top scorer again.

Mubama is decent. Was doing fairly well for his first ever loan at Stoke first half of the season before his injury. Powerful and presses really well - can see him starting a lot of games to do the main bulk of the running and then Larin comes on like he did yesterday to finish the job.

Gives us more money for a Charles replacement, too.

Would you say Jebbison and that Spanish fella are better options? They are the only serious links we've had to strikers thus far.

Not a clue.  Just like last season with Jander, Scienza, Peretz and Larin.

Fair chunk of City fans seem a bit disappointed he's not being kept around after the tour performances

Always a good sign!
Hope we get this one done.

Could well have had a sudden jump in his development given how young he is and with Tonda's reputation for improving players this could turn out to be quite smart. Maybe we will spend some cash on the Charles replacement.

For those of us who haven't been paying attention, what sort of profile does Mubama have?

A big like-for-like of Stewart?

He had had quite a lot of minutes this summer for Man City's 1st team. Scoring 2 goals, one vs a Korean League select team and one vs Inter Milan.

Loan with an option please. Then hopefully in a year City have bigger targets and if he's successful we use him in the Prem.

Yes the Prem. Aim high people

Hopefully he can recreate that second goal of his hat trick

He said all that when backed into a corner with embarrassment over spygate and with season tickets to sell. Not sure anyone believed him, I certainly didn't.

I like the look of Mubama. Strong and quick plus a decent finisher. Hope we get this one across the line. Him and Larin would be great options up front.

Agree. Tbh this is as good a signing as we can hope for really. Even better if we get an option on him if he is amazing for us.

Didn't play a single minute for Stoke after a defeat to PNE in March, anyone know why? Flashscores doesn't seem to mention any injury.

Yeah, he got a bad ankle injury.

Wonder if our interest came from this

Max Alleyne can come home too. Only caught him once for City when he was recalled but he looked composed. Makes the CB spot stronger.
