HarvSFC Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I was expecting to read rave reviews on the Stoke forum, but errrr..... https://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/317513/divin-mubama?page=18&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=google

Willo of Whiteley Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Who is JJ Gabriel? Divan Mukamba, is he any good?

Exactly, youth football & loans are choppy waters in terms of predicting future outcomes. Reading / Blackpool / Cambridge fans probably wouldn’t be saying Dom Ballard is going to boss League one in the 2025/26 season.

Probably best off not paying too much attention to it. Clearly highly regarded and was in demand again this summer by decent coaches

Seem to remember him being a handful against us before he got sent off last season. This is a great chance to offer him minutes in a side that's going to get a lot of crosses in without expecting him to do it all on his own or expecting him to play 90 minutes every game. West Ham fans reckon they'd happily take him back on loan. Edited 47 minutes ago by coalman

The only reason we'd have had a striker as good as Stewart as our backup striker is because he is made of biscuits 1

Use (some of) the money to buy a striker now please. Another Larin type but maybe a bit younger and we'd have a bloody good side. We don't have 'plenty' of midfielders. We need 4 CMs for the system and way we play. Critical that we replace Shea. Also critical that we bring in one or more like 2 strikers (and get rid of BBD/Down). Also need a backup keeper. 1

Not particularly enamoured with our wing options either, Scienza aside. I was hoping Dragan's bullish talk of absolutely going for it this season would have looked a bit more ambitious, but I guess he said all the right things before season tickets went on sale, and here we are. The squad's good, and we should certainly make the top 8. But the league is stronger this year, so standing still is not going to cut it.

It's a Spider Graph (I think they probably call them something fancy in the world of footy analytics, like a Player Radar or something) anyway, What this one sort of shows (and given the minutes are similar, it's reasonably useful): Mubama is stronger all-round/physical forward profile. Lankshear: comparable player, with some potentially more interesting attacking numbers. Which, given what we want is fine. We want a classic link-up man to bring the midfielders and wingers up the pitch as well as a finisher. I wouldn't trust just this graph, but it's a decent comparison for sure. 1 hour ago, Matthew Le God said: Edited 23 minutes ago by Polaroid Saint 1

hypochondriac Posted 16 minutes ago Posted 16 minutes ago Let's be honest no one has any idea if this is a good deal or not. He has shown a lot of promise in pre season which is good but was pretty underwhelming last season which is a negative. If Larin can stay fit then we won't have to rely on him too much anyway. Let's hope he's blossomed like a Delap or a Kane and in a better team that creates more he can score more and be a handful. Not the sure thing I was hoping for after Stewart left but could still end up as a smart acquisition.
MarkSFC Posted 5 minutes ago Posted 5 minutes ago What we all dont know is what his projected development trajectory looks like. Not that every player always ends up where it is forecast but you'd hope that all our analysts and sports science people have a decent idea of where he is. I like the sound of him and it could just be a brilliant signing. Was hoping for someone more established but theres gambles with them too. Larin, Mubama, Archer, Leo, Dobbin, Azaz....should be plenty of goals from them.

Would be great if Fellows starts scoring but I'm not holding my breath.
