Which is demonstrably nonsense.

Bit disappointed in our transfer business this summer, especially after what happened at the end of last season and Dragan’s promises. We are unquestionably weaker than last year (Stewart, Charles and THB will collectively be a big loss), are starting on -4 and will inevitably have to deal with some kind of Tonda ban/situation in mid-September. Frustrating. Nah we signed his replacement 2 years ago from our sister club in France. He’s had two years training, playing and developing with us for this very moment when he can step up and justify his 5m fee

Swaythling Saint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago THB might want to go to Benfica but need to make an acceptable offer
revolution saint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’ll post an unpopular opinion. I’m not that bothered about losing THB. I’d rather keep him but I’m not sure he’s quite as talismanic as most people do. Thought he was quite poor in the premier league (although pretty much all the players were) and he’s got gaps in his game from a defensive point of view, probably because he lacks a bit of pace. Distribution would be a loss mind. If we’re looking at the Feyenord lad or similar quality then I think we’ll cope. I don’t think THB is terrible, he’s very good at this level and he seems to be a bit of a leader. Just don’t think it’ll be the end of hopes of promotion. 1
HarvSFC Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Not only is he a good defender, but he's also one of the top leaders at the club. See Jordan Henderson this summer for how valued that is these days. Also is our main threat from attacking set pieces and last season became a big part of how we played under Eckert with his diagonal balls from the defence into the midfield. Would be a massive, disappointing loss. At this moment in time, we've got one of the best goalkeepers with Peretz in the league, one of the best centre-backs with THB, one of the best midfielders with Jander, one of the best 10s with Azaz and one of the best strikers with Larin. That's the spine of the team currently supported by some top wide players and we need it if we are going for the league title, which has been suggested by those at the club all summer. 3

I don't agree I think he's a big loss but I suppose the main positive if he does go is that we will have known he would be going this summer for a along time so you would hope we would be able to move quickly to bring in a replacement. We will have to because we don't want to be relying on Quarshie, wood, Stephens and kai Sanda for long periods of time.

Genuinely not sure how the likes of stoke and Swansea have been able to spend some serious cash this summer. I know we have a higher wage bill and have had to sell Charles for example but surely we don't have the same pressing need now?

You just have to look at FootballMartin's content to see how fans elevate themselves into being the font of all knowledge. That's the internet for you I guess. Willo of Whiteley Posted 49 minutes ago Posted 49 minutes ago I might actually give this thread a rest until the window has shut. Can’t be dealing with pedantic prat’s putting words in my mouth about my own opinions. Or people throwing their toys out the pram at something that effectively hasn’t happened and is unlikely to happen unless serious money is quoted. An absolute waste of time getting wound up by this. The season starts this weekend, people should be getting pumped for that!

The first half versus Colchester the back four were terrible, Peretz and THB were the only ones stopping us conceding 3 goals. Colchester?!? Think how most of the championship will carve us in half without our main CB. Really? THB's distribution first half was terrible!

TBF to football Martin he frequently says on his streams that he doesn't really know more than the average fan. Others may portray him that way but I haven't seen anywhere where he has done that. 2
Saint Scott Posted 39 minutes ago Posted 39 minutes ago I cannot see a situation where THB ends up at Benfica. The club have been steadfast on player valuations and they simply could not afford the fee we'd demand. Interest is clearly genuine but backing it up financially isn't going to happen. If THB leaves it will be to the PL 2

Forester Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago A hopefully balanced view: - I believe we have been targeting bringing in £70 million this summer based on loss of revenue. We already have over half that bagged through Charles and Fernandes sell-on. It is going to be hard to generate the other half of that without selling one of THB, Jander or Scienza. Ramsdale value has fallen, Sugawara, BBD and others like Edozie will not touch the sides. And many on here still want a replacement for Charles brought in. - If we sell THB I don’t want to sell him to West Ham or any other direct rival. Benicia are a massive club in their country, managed by Silva, and it gives the player Champions League football. So it’s perfectly possible he hasn’t been “pushing for a move” but then this arrives, what would you do? - I thought Wood was excellent in the final months of the season including cup games against top class opposition. I am fine with him and Stephens starting, Quarshie improved and clearly we will bring in a replacement. So I’d rather keep THB but anyone shouting needs to come up with the extra £30 million solution.

Let's not forget Adam Armstrong going in January which was also about 7 I believe. Sugawara, bbd and Edozie we should get at least 10 million for if we can agree sales and not loans. Archer and Bazunu too we should get at least 15-20 for them all. Edited 23 minutes ago by hypochondriac

hypochondriac Posted 18 minutes ago Posted 18 minutes ago BBD 4 million Edozie 4 million Ramsdale -loan most likely Archer 5 million Bazunu 3 million Sugawara 2 million Maybe a little high but that's 18 million if we can shift them. Combine that with the Armstrong fee, Charles sale and Fernandes sale and you're not far off 70 million if that's really what someone believes we need to raise.
Saint Scott Posted 17 minutes ago Posted 17 minutes ago 1 minute ago, benali-shorts said: what valuations are you putting on each of them to get to £30m?! Ramsdale £15m gets you half way there. The club would want at least £5m for Baz based on his fee. That leaves an average of £3.33m for Edozie, BBD and Yuki 1
AlexLaw76 Posted 17 minutes ago Posted 17 minutes ago the savings on wages would be pretty significant. Granted, they were all not at the club last season, but they are today.

AlexLaw76 Posted 9 minutes ago Posted 9 minutes ago Ramsdale one is odd. He is a bloody good keeper yet no one wants to by him.
benali-shorts Posted 6 minutes ago Posted 6 minutes ago Ramsdale: 4 year contract, bought at c£18m. £9m would be an reasonable outcome reflecting remaining book value; more likely a loan for next 2 years @ dwindling values. Bazunu: 1 year left. Would be amazed if anyone paid anything for him (as opposed to loan for a year and then zero cost). BBD & Sugawara 2 years left and Edozie one year left. Might get £5-6m if we're lucky.
Saint Scott Posted 6 minutes ago Posted 6 minutes ago 3 minutes ago, CSA96 said: You’ve got to live in the real world, though. Those fees aren’t happening I am in the real world. A PL level goalkeeper that played in the Champions league knockout rounds last season should command a £15m fee 1
jrobsbigshorts Posted 4 minutes ago Posted 4 minutes ago THBs long diagonal passes were a feature of Tonda ball and it fucks me off that we had the natural succesor to Taylor in Ronnie Edwards , we sold him way too cheap , it was clear we'd probably need another ball playing CB in the near future,

I think it's because the season starts this weekend that people get upset that the better players leave/ potentially leave now. Solak ( with season tickets to sell ) predicted that he would give us a side that would " have us out of our seats". Of course we are far from being in a position to keep the best players if they want out and a good fee is got, but as a whole I am not seeing a side that's going to get an auto finish this season.
