Demo/March II Pics and reaction

From the Echo.........

As many as 500 angry Saints fans staged their second protest march before the club’s crucial league match today

A heavy police presence escorted the march, which again passed without signs of violence, although there was abuse exchanged with some Preston fans outside the King Alfred pub.

The demonstration, which was attended by Mary Corbett, included a short sit down protest on Kings Way, where fans shouted "Sit down if you want Lowe out."

Chants of "We want Rupert out" as well as "Sack the board"

and "Wilde and Lowe, time to go" were heard frequently throughout, while some of the printable messages on supporters' signs included "Lowe out" and "Rupert Lowe must go."

"Wotte Notta Gotta Clue" seems a bit laughable at the moment. Fair play to everyone who turned up once again though, even

Indeed.

Unfortunately, this Connor chap always seems to say "appointing Wotte n' stuff" when interviewed. I think Wotte's appointment is quite low down the list of Lowe and Wilde's stupid acts this season.

better today because us old ones could keep up, lots of clapping from other fans as we went round the ground.

bEST THING WAS THAT THE PASSION OUTSIDE WAS TRANSFERRED inside

Great Support , even with the Itchen being subject to lots of police and stewards enforcing sit down policy

The trick here is to not let up the protests!

Support the team when they play but make it abundantly clear that Lowe simply is no longer welcome!

my sentiments exactly.don't ease up on the pressure on the board.the thought of those two goons running it again next season fills me with dread

Thanks for the pics, most of these supporters do look very young though.

I think it would have been fairly advantageous to the protesters cause (which I'm not against) if they'd have had a few older generation fans in the mass.

All those kids will mean nothing to Lowe, a few earners in the 30K/40K a year bracket would have meant far more to him.

A very good cross section of fans once again. The front of the march was dominated by the youngsters who were all up for it, whilst us oldies were bringing up the rear!!!

Another good turnout, marginally less than last time to start with and then probably as many come the end of the march.

Once again it would appear that the unity outside was transferred to the stands again.

But it would have made the protest more seemly if it had been the "old uns" splattered all over the Echo that's all.The protest organisers are probably not using the media to their best advantage.

good turn out, thanks for all that came. there will be no march at cardiff as i have been advised by police not to..... they said that because of the cardiff fans repuation that if it turned nasty and there was trouble, they would not support any further protests etc. there will be something going on but am not sure what. any ideas?

Of course there was more near the stadium it was fans going to the match. That was a poor turn-out.No more than last time (400 ? Im being generous) couple that with the superb weather and the cynically timed late start of the walk.

I think the brilliant support in the stadium was more of a popular statement. The fans wanted to prove they could get behind the team and had enough of the petty politics and attention seeking from the protest clique.

You're quite right.

The Lowe and Poortvliet's Revolutionary Coaching Set Up ignoring dodgy CV's protest, was much better attended.

Huzzah.;)

Flowers/wreaths laid out in front of the Ted Bates statue in a carpet fashion, not just dumped.

All supporters who wish too can buy a single rose, be it red or black, can participate.

Therefore those who are unable to march can feel as though they have contributed.

Could look visibly impressive for the media.

This act could be used to signify a club that is dying under the current regime.

This of course could be used in tandem with another form of protest such as a sit-in at the main entrance.

You are completely missing the point here.

We are about to (if we haven't already) lose a whole generation of future die hard fans, which may not kick in for a while yet, but imagine where we will stand in another 10 years or so (if we are still in existance ) and things are as bad as they are now.

I was lucky enough to see the 76 Final, the likes of Keegan, Ossie, Bally, Channon, Davies and the mercurial MLT wear the Saints shirt and also seen 2 relegations but this is the first time I have ever really (although the Branfart era tried my patience, but ooohhh how good was the make up sex when Bally/Lawrie and MLT came to the rescue :p) not felt totally elated after a 3-1 win. One look at the league table sorted that out. :(

Now, as the legendary Bill Shankly once said (or probably often said :D) You can change your wife, you can change your politics and you can change your religion, but you can never change your football team (or something along those lines!) BUT we as a club are in the situation where we are alienating our future fan base before it has even started. Plus despite what you say, there are plenty of "mature" fans there (WTF has a salary got to do with it ) who won't be taking their kids to matches in a hurry. The worrying thing about the ratio of oldies amongst the protest is that most have probably gone beyond the stage of anger and into total apathy and have found alternative things to do on a Saturday afternoon.

PAH in my semi inebriated state I missed on first reading that you weren't against the protest, so apologies at any injustice thrown your way, but bollix if having typed (and corrected numerous typos) this far, I'm not giong to post this now and it's my last one so I can't say sorry later

Why is every body going on about one swallow doesn't make a summer/ It does make for a t least a half decent BJ though :D

Just as well this is my last post, as I'd probably be banned by the end of the evevning :p Anyway back to the beer and pulling my hair out at not being able to reply to some of the utter tosh that will be posted tonight :D

Come on you Saints.

thats the media for you, they control the agenda and show events from the angle they want to due to there own political agenda, think for yourself and dont believe everything you hear and see.

for me there were more than 500, a fair amount less than the first protest but im not sure if that means the attendace was a conservitive estimate of 1300 for the first one or not, but alot more than 500 and there was significantely broader age range than these pictures show!

I know this isn't a popular view but the team today won despite the losers walking through 'town' in what can be best described as a stroll rather than a protest..

Losers?

Still despite their best efforts Wotte and boys still came up with the goods.

Sorry but that is one of the most stupid things I have heard? Protesting against the current board will make the team lose? Everyone I knew that marhced today went to the game, and other I saw in the stadium during the game

Rubbish today showed that you can protest about the board/lowe and how the club is run AND give 110% support to the team during a game.

Where were you sat today ?

Well done peoples.....forget the knockers, most just like to wind posters up.

Idea's......yes loads. Like the Wreath idea, said that before, like the sit down protest......................or another of mine 'Alphabet shirts'. This would take a bit of organisation, and at the same time (if a protest Committee is formed), make some money. The object being loads of 't' shirts with most the alphabet on them in single letters. Then you could make up as many messages inside the ground as you wish, and interchange during the match.......could show the creative side of some;);)

Why not all three idea's..................
