Window Cleaner Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 Same old problem, we can't score and Surman misses unmissable chances to boot. We will probably look back on this week and Surman's 2 misses as where it finally went tits up. But we didn't lose much ground so will keep on being hopeful but nothing more. InvictaSaint Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 Forest get tonked 5-0 at Burnley....Barnsley lose at home to Blackpool....all set up for us to get 3 points against a QPR side with no wins in 8 and to move out of the bottom three....and still we can't come up with the goods. Getting desperate.

Considering our track record this season, it seems extremely likely. I dont buy into this "mathematical certainty" argument. Unlike the other teams around us, we simlpy are not fighting to stay up. Season not over yet - more twists to come. Hang on for the ride! COYR! what are people thoughts on this - personally I didn't think the other results weren't too bad today. Forest got thumped, Derby lost, Watford concede a late goal to only draw, Plymouth lost and Barnsley lost, as did Charlton although we could play until Xmas and I don't think they could catch us. Ok so Blackpool and Norwich won but far more positives than negatives. The only glaring negative was US NOT WINNING......AGAIN.

InvictaSaint Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 only 1 defeat in 6 as well...lets take a positive from the game. But the point is we are not WINNING our home games! What happened in 2005? We failed to win our home games and we went down, and this is history repeating itself; one defeat in 6 means nothing if we aren't winning the other 5 games. You can take all the 'positives' you like from another 2 points dropped at home against a below-average QPR team, but the lack of fire in our bellies and one goal (an OG at that) in three does not augur well I'm afraid. No, but I'm not the one saying we are definitely stay up. That's my point, it's still wide open. Maybe the last 2 games were sh*t, but we were brilliant in the 3 before the Brum game. 2 points from safety, a games in hand and games against 2 of our rivals still to come. Edmonton Saint Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 By the sounds of it back to boring Saints, no pace or creativity and seldom looking like breaking teams down. Need more invention if we are going to have any chance of staying up. Whilst I am here, What has gone wrong with Lallana? Starting to think we should have sold him in January given his recent form. Also whilst I am here what has happened to Joseph Mills? He was one of the few to impress me during Jans early months..
WestSaint Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 Four wins and a draw needed imho. That's do-able, but it's gonna be close. Yes its do-able but not on our present performances. To win these games we need to play well and we are not doing that at the moment. We have to win our home gains. Until a couple of weeks ago we had only won one all season. Now we seem to have got into a drawing habit.

Maybe the last 2 games were sh*t, but we were brilliant in the 3 before the Brum game. 2 points from safety, a games in hand and games against 2 of our rivals still to come. You're correct but I am worried about our lack of depth just now. looking at today's side it was evident that that was it,one dimensional,if it didn't work out we had nothing whatsoever in reserve to change the game plan. For me Lallana just doesn't contribute anything at this level and that leaves us with an ineffective midfield,Gillet isn't particularly creative and DMG is a bit hit and miss.If we're not getting James and Skacel forward we just don't pose much threat. QPR strung 5 across the middle leaving Blackstock up front. They came for a point, same as Derby and got it because we just don't have the weaponry to break that sort of formation down. We need a creative midfielder on loan, this week for preference.
The Godfather Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 Although we look more solid, in the last two games we don't look like scoring. We need to play with more width as this diamond formation in the midfield doesn't work.
corsacar saint Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 Patently sounds like another poor performance, and to think that Norwich were 1 point behind us before tuesday night.
