OldNick Posted 19 March, 2009 Share Posted 19 March, 2009 Not much to talk about. The 2 camps have called a truce , as in Crouch LM etc and so are not stirring the pot. The marches/protests have faltered and the fans in the main are being fully supportive of the team. This is what a united fan base brings. No doubt you will conjure something up to get the forum swinging. Or it might be that the anti Lowes are keeping a low profile as they want to play in the game and dont want to spoil their chances
alpine_saint Posted 19 March, 2009 Author Share Posted 19 March, 2009 I imagine it's because people are waiting to see what happens next. At the moment there's a good chance we could stay up, even if there's a better chance we'll go down. So between matches it's just dull waiting. It is tiring, but it's great when the matches come around as they're so important. I think a loss saturday might finish us off though. But really, must we have loud mouth happy clappy insults because people want to be positive? How is it loud mouth on a forum? CAPITALS? Frequency of posts? In which case, it's not exactly the most positive who are the most frequent is it. My definition of "loud-mouthed" in this context is the lecturing of others in how their support the club. For example, not only is Illingsworth our celebrity Ueber-Fan, he is also the most loud-mouthed Saints fan around. I wasnt setting out to specifically insult anyone, I was simply trying to point out that even the most optimisitc and blind fan amongst us must recognise that the time for optimisim is either already up or will be up after this weekend.. As for my avatar, I ponced it from Invicta Saint (he very kindly gave me his blessing). I kind of thought it fitted the persona that I project on this site (not intentionally, btw..) If we get relegated then the **** really will hit the fan and also when season tickets are renewed we'll see the real extent of the protest. RobM Posted 19 March, 2009 Share Posted 19 March, 2009 I think it's quiet because all the knowledgeable posters who have contributed over the years, the ones who may have a clue what's really going on and why, are bored of the pathetic battles that constantly occur on this forum. It's just a playground for a dozen individual posters to call each other names, make snide comments and categorise everyone into 'Happy Clappy Lowe Luvvies' or whatever the opposite of that is, as if there is no way you could not hate Lowe and want to see the club do well at the same time. So given that the intelligent, football related conversation has been drained from the site, you're left with petty little kids, which is only fun for petty little kids. And it takes two to Tango, so let's not automatically blame Alpine.

Wes Tender Posted 19 March, 2009 Share Posted 19 March, 2009 I agree that the forum has become rather dull, but I also feel that we are in a transitory phase at the moment and perhaps we need to see where we are going before any debate is sparked off as a result. Everything that could be said about the return of Lowe and the Quisling has already been said, as it has been regarding the dismissal of Pearson and the appointment of the double Dutch. Most realise that the return of Lowe and the Quisling has not been a good thing, also that their continued running of the club can never produce the unity required to take us forward. So all we can do now, is wait and see whether the change of manager and reintroduction of a blend of older and younger players playing a more traditionally recognisable type of game plan can (1) keep us in this division (2) keep us afloat financially. Until we know what will happen with those two vital aspects, there is little point in commenting on anything really.

If you didn't mean to upset anyone or get a rise then why did you use the term `happy clappy'? Perhaps you need to look at your own part in why people can't be arsed with this forum any more. Certainly from my point of view the constant derision of anyone that has absolutely anything positive to say puts me off posting as often as I used to. Why just mention the Happy clappies? some of the Anti's are just as loud mouthed are they not? Dont think everyone is resigned to relegation either although I doubt there are many that are happy we seem to be heading that way. Being worn out by the constant cok ups the club make time and time again is probably closer to the truth imo It would be nice if the club could lay all its cards on the table honestly so we can see how things really are. But even if the club was completly honest someone would snipe from somewhere about something so it will never happen.
