saints_is_the_south Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 Perhaps a poll could be set up? Would be interesting to see how many of those who stopped going because of Lowelife will return for the remaining 3 games this season?

Saint_clark Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 With the lower prices V Charlton, we should easily get 30,000 now IMO.
Danny Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 If we don't get about 28,000 for each game them, IMO, most of them were just full of **** and didn't want to come to CCC matches supporting a poor team. Personally, I think Lowe and Wilde were just an excuse for many, as when Lowe left last time, attendances (at best) stayed the same.
Gingeletiss Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 Lol........you're saying there are 10,000 of us.....others put it as low as 1,000, so who is correct. FWIW, work permitting, I will attend now he has gone, but don't rely on 10,000:rolleyes:

FWIW, work permitting, I will attend now he has gone, but don't rely on 10,000:rolleyes: Attendances dropped on average of about 9000 from last season. Foxstone Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 I went when Lowe was here for the first time, when Wilde was there, when Hone was there, when Crouch was there and when Lowe returned again.. All of them have played their part in sending this club into a downward spiral and I dislike and don't regard any of them as capable stewards of our club. But the club, the players and the supporters are bigger than any one individual and I was never going to let any of them stop me from doing what gives me pleasure. IE: SUPPORTING SAINTS FC. Beer Engine Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 And if we go into liquidation and SFC disappears? I think ultimately the liquidation issue will be down to whether or not the development value of the land on which SMS stands is worth more than the 25 million we apparently still owe to Aviva. Even if SLH and SFC Limited go into liquidation, presumably the Phoenix company can still apply for SFC's football Share from the Football League and enter into a lease or refinancing/purchase agreement with Aviva re. SMS. The net result (after a lot of anxious moments) is likely to be Saints starting next season in the third division at SMS with a points deduction but without the burden of the club's current debts and without the current crop of idiots in charge? I would have thought that gates would go up in a strange new era/ backs against the wall sort of way ... I'd take 4 tickets for more or less every home game in those circumstances

JamiSaint Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 I'd go but I hate the atmosphere at SMS nowadays. Perhaps it's the responsibility of RL that fans have become some negative and fatalistic, I don't know. I used to be a ST-holder, and travel 200 miles each match to watch. But I've now been to see two matches in two years. I think the real legacy of the infighting at board level over the past few years has been the creation of an increasing number of negative, bitter, angry, aggressive fans who boo their own players, many of whom are youngsters. I don't know if I blame these fans. But this isn't going to change overnight, and so I'm not going to any matches in the near future.
bungle Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 Just done a sum, and if it is to be believed that we are £110k over the overdraft, that is just 4584 full price tickets (at £24) over the season so far. Very interesting.

Micky Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 I might buy a ticket per match by phone as a show of support if Lowe is really gone, although I cannot go. A noble gesture, but surely with the masses about to return that simply deprives somebody, who could attend, the chance of seeing the game. Who'd be a fan eh - damned if you do and damned if you don't. TBH though I think there may be a surge in interest for one match (maybe the remaining 3 home games) but after that I bet there are still 1000's of empty seats. So perhaps if we can get those empty seats sponsored ala Alpines - 'buy but stay away gesture' - our problems will be solved.

I'd take 4 tickets for more or less every home game in those circumstances If the pain is no worse than that I for one would agree with you. Relegation is not such a big deal in the long run,and the points deduction would not be so big as to necessarily send us into another relegation. But the danger is that we also end up with no players worth mentioning , no training ground , no academy, and at the very worst extreme no home ground and even no club ..though I can't really see a club as big as saints not finding some sort of buyer somewhere somehow. Michael Knighton anyone?!!!! ;-) K.

eelpie Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 Bet ya we don't. Hard pressed to get 25K in my opinion. From the BBC: 'In a statement, joint-administrator Mark Fry said: "Southampton Football Club has a long history in English football and could be an extremely attractive investment for the right buyer. "We are working hard to preserve the value of the football club and produce a positive outcome for all stakeholders, and I ask that fans continue to show their support for the team for the remainder of the season as we seek to show the best face possible to potential investors." ' So it's up to us to pursuade others to return.
Neil Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 I'm going with 5 others on Saturday, I don't think any of those 5 have been to more than one other home game this season. I'll be there for the last two home games and will try to get as many as possible along to spend cash within the stadium as well. The fans will return, although it may take a bit longer than the Charlton game, but they'd better not wait too long!

bungle Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 It's all very well people coming back now and saying this (and I know many personally), but the fact of the matter is had we sold just 4584 £24 tickets (the cheaper full price ones) this season, we would not have gone £110k over our overdraft and we would not be in this mess. While the beginning and major parts of our club being badly run clearly lie with many in the boardroom, the pettiness of a number of fans could mean that they come back to NO club. John Smith Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 So, now we have people on this board acting as though they are the 'fan police'! Give it a break you little children. If a grown up wishes to return to SMS now, then he/she will. If that grown up wishes to remain away for another game or two, that is up to them. And if, shock gasp horror, a grown up has decided to do something else on Saturdays now, well b*gger me if grown ups aren't making their own minds up nowadays! Who'd have thunk it! The day the police turn up on my doorstep and demand that I prove that I said I would return when Lowe goes AND that I will return on the basis of this, will be the day I laugh my head off! I think there are a few burnt prides out there. And those that are hurting the most, are the ones being so defensive and doing all the finger pointing. How about, you shut up, and go to the game and stop your 2 year old temper tantrums and spitting your dummy out the pram! People will decide what they will do with their own lives, not some gimp on a message board!
