Hats off to Jean-Paul Saeijs

Isn't it weird how there seems to be more honesty and transparency coming from the OS these days . . . ?

The club seem to be making the effort to keep the fans more informed and 'in the loop' as it were. Fair play to them!

Just read that and it all but confirms that Saints will be around next season

the gloom and doom merchants should take note

Wotte is already planning for next season . whether he is in charge or not.

I liked the comment about JP not wanting to go back to Holland

Whats wrong with Holland?

Tbh I don't see why he's escaped the blame, he's put in some fantastic performances but cost us a fair few games. He's given away three penalties I think and off the top of my head has made at least two mistakes leading to goals.

I'd still love us to sign him. Be more than happy with him and Perry at CB next year.

JPS is well worth keeping if we can as he's exactly the kind of solid 'no-nonsense' defender we will need whatever level we're playing at . Unfortunately if we can see what a good player he is then so can others and I'd be surprised if there is no competing interest from the CCC . A possible line up of Perry/JPS/Thomas/with Lancashire in reserve and the CB position is covered I'd say - we'll just have to wait and see . Great news that young Mills has been offered a new contract , we can only hope he accepts it . A small lad with a big future I'd say .

My preliminary back 4 for next season (hopefully with Kelvin Davis =D> still here behind them)

Why Thomas and not Perry???

I hold Chris Perry in the highest regard , indeed for a 34 year old to play as many games as he has this season is a remarkable achievement . Time however catches up with us all so a fit Wayne Thomas (5 years younger BTW) might be a better long term prospect . No doubt Perry will have an important part to play at some stage .

the two games I've seen Saejis play he was bloody awful!

And to be fair to Saeijs, the two games you've seen must be the two games where he has been poor.

Apart from that, he's been nothing short of superb.

When he came into the side, we were leaking goals but he really helped to steady the ship.

I'd be delighted if Saeijs remained a Saint next season, would be a massive boost IMO!

He's seen every ground there a million times and probably the thrill is gone for him. He came to Southampton because he wanted a foreign adventure, so not wanting to return after 6 months or so makes quite a lot of sense.

36 tomorrow in fact, trouble is the forwards in the League 1 are going to get younger and faster and positioning and

experience doesn't always counter that.

Hopefully we can get another season out of Perry, think he has been one our better players this season.

one of the few good points about going down was that Wotte and JP were going to be on their way back to Holland

he has had two poor games since he joined and been 9 out of 10 in all the others IMO.

I wouod go as far as saying that signing him up next season is more important than signing any other player.

Good points: No nonsense, does the simple things, wins headers and really entertaining to watch, always seems up for a fight

Bad points: Given away 2 needless penaltys, when hes beaten he shoulder charges the oposing player and its so ****ing obvious. Got beaten easily the other week for a goal. Cant remember who we were playing, too ****ed to care.

Over all id snap roda's hand off and give the man a contract.

I bumped in to Size last night and what a top bloke he is. I didn't want to bother he too much as he was with three of his friends, but he said it was fine and took some time out to talk to me. He said he would love to stay at saints but it all depends on if a deal can be struck between saints and his old club. He did also say he has had other offers but would love to stay at saints. I put him on the spot a bit and said what would you do if another championship team came in, he said he would have to consider all offers and options.....which is understandable.

on a seperate note I heard last night that David Frost was fronting one of the consortiums. Don't know how true this is but thought I would mention it.

A steward told me that it was a consortium involving David Frost and Rod Stewart. Put that together with the other stories about Rod Stewart and WGS and you have the makings of a runour.
