I had a litle problem getting in with it, but the fans behind me had a go at the lovely lady steward as they said it would be pathetic if it was confiscated as they said it was amusing. She took it to the turnstile and showed it to the steward there to get a 2nd opinion and she liked it and so they let me in.

Whitey Grandad Posted 26 April, 2009 Share Posted 26 April, 2009 The invasion started with about a 100 12-year olds running on the pitch and jumping up and down and waving their arms like they thought that they done achieved something special. Why all the others decided to join them is beyond me. If they want to walk on the grass there are plenty or parks around for an afternoon stroll. Hatch Posted 26 April, 2009 Share Posted 26 April, 2009 It is so embarrasing. Pitch invasions are purely those with the mentality of a 14 year old and for non league teams. I'm pointing and laughing at everyone who ran around on the pitch yesterday. Probably the same sort of people that do skids when they find a shiny piece of flooring. Griffo Posted 26 April, 2009 Share Posted 26 April, 2009 If you're saying about 12 year olds, I'm afraid the ones at the front that went over to Burnley fans that were also fighting with police, were a fair bit over 12. You can see in some photo's how they were trying to tear at the nets and trying to climb up and hanging off the nets. Why get involved though Janet??? You open yourself up to abuse or worse. I can only comment on your photo's, yes there are kids climbing the net but, again only my opinion, it looks like they are climbing the net to sit on the goal posts. I'm not saying they should be allowed on the goal posts or even the pitch for that matter, just trying to keep it all in a little perspective. Fans did confront the goading (sp) Burnley fans, Derby fans confronted us at pride park, cardiff fans assualted the ref, Wolves fans invaded at Barnsley, I just feel that on this site in particular, we are constantly blowing things completely out of proportion and are hanging our own fans out to dry!!! aimo of course. ladysaint Posted 27 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 27 April, 2009 All I was saying was that our own fans were destroying our goalposts and netting which we could ill afford to repair or replace, it upset me greatly that our own fans were doing this to our club. I am sure there would have been uproar if the Burnley fans had done the same to the posts in the Northam end. On another thread it has also been said that thousands of pounds of damage was done to microphones, photographic equipment, security equipment. I got involved because it is my club a club I have supported for over 40 years and one that I will protect it any way I can. Ok I was verbally abused by some young kids but so what if I saved the goalposts/netting from more damage then I am happy.

Wasn't much uproar when Villa invaded the pitch and BROKE the post's at the Archers road, can't remember Villa being docked points or being fined? I'm not saying your wrong, infact if they were breaking the posts your 100% right, just saying I feel things need to be put into perspective! I'm with you on the pitch invasion, but lay off "doing skids", alright ? PS The smoke thing definitely came from the away end first, all I was doing for the 20 minutes after the pitch invasion was standing there watching all the nobbers on the pitch near the away fans and unless someone chucked it from off the pitch without lighting it first (I wouldn't put it past them), the first time the yellow smoke could be seen it came from the away end. The account from the Burnley fan also confirms the first smoke bomb came from their section (and that it was a Skate that did it, apparently). Griffo Posted 28 April, 2009 Share Posted 28 April, 2009 The smoke bomb was first lit by our fans and then chucked before it was properly smoking. It was then chucked back when it was fully smoking, hence why it looked like it first came from Burnley fans.
