did the ref actually blow the final whistle today as nobody I have spoken to heard it and sure there was at least a minute left to play. Anyway some photos from the end of the game today I was really upset and still am at the way the kids were trying to pull down the goalposts and rip the netting so dont look if like me it hurts you.

No I didnt Nick but I am sure the Echo did.
Not in the Pink last night, just one of a fan with the 'we'll be back' written on it.

I had a litle problem getting in with it, but the fans behind me had a go at the lovely lady steward as they said it would be pathetic if it was confiscated as they said it was amusing. She took it to the turnstile and showed it to the steward there to get a 2nd opinion and she liked it and so they let me in.

Stewards should get their priorities right, it was ok to let people pull down the goalposts and rip the netting but when someone tries to take in a little bit of cardboard its a different matter.

I left after about 5 minutes after the final whistle, did the goalposts and nets get damaged then?

The invasion started with about a 100 12-year olds running on the pitch and jumping up and down and waving their arms like they thought that they done achieved something special. Why all the others decided to join them is beyond me. If they want to walk on the grass there are plenty or parks around for an afternoon stroll.

Did you have the 'If only Carlsberg made football boards!' or somthing to that effect.

It is so embarrasing.

Pitch invasions are purely those with the mentality of a 14 year old and for non league teams.

I'm pointing and laughing at everyone who ran around on the pitch yesterday. Probably the same sort of people that do skids when they find a shiny piece of flooring.

Sorry Janet but yo me it seems like your jumping on the band wagon, from your photo's I can't see anyone "pulling down the goal posts" or "ripping the netting down"! Sorry flower but i really can't see what your talking about, I can see a young lad sat on the cross bar, but thats it!

It would be really interesting to compare photo's of last years last game and this years, would be interesting to see if anyone sat on the cross bar last year??? Then again, that wouldn't be a story would it?

Yep. He blew for the foul and then blew for the end of the match. The season just fizzled out, really.

That is how I saw it. I also saw him shake hands with one Saints player before turning to attend to our injured player.

It was a feeble blow of his whistle. Just like his control during the match.

I obviously did not capture all action as I was so peed off watching them I went down to the pitch and started shouting at them to get off. You can see in some photo's how they were trying to tear at the nets and trying to climb up and hanging off the nets.

Why get involved though Janet??? You open yourself up to abuse or worse. I can only comment on your photo's, yes there are kids climbing the net but, again only my opinion, it looks like they are climbing the net to sit on the goal posts.

I'm not saying they should be allowed on the goal posts or even the pitch for that matter, just trying to keep it all in a little perspective. Fans did confront the goading (sp) Burnley fans, Derby fans confronted us at pride park, cardiff fans assualted the ref, Wolves fans invaded at Barnsley, I just feel that on this site in particular, we are constantly blowing things completely out of proportion and are hanging our own fans out to dry!!!

aimo of course.

All I was saying was that our own fans were destroying our goalposts and netting which we could ill afford to repair or replace, it upset me greatly that our own fans were doing this to our club. I am sure there would have been uproar if the Burnley fans had done the same to the posts in the Northam end. On another thread it has also been said that thousands of pounds of damage was done to microphones, photographic equipment, security equipment. I got involved because it is my club a club I have supported for over 40 years and one that I will protect it any way I can. Ok I was verbally abused by some young kids but so what if I saved the goalposts/netting from more damage then I am happy.

Wasn't much uproar when Villa invaded the pitch and BROKE the post's at the Archers road, can't remember Villa being docked points or being fined?

I'm not saying your wrong, infact if they were breaking the posts your 100% right, just saying I feel things need to be put into perspective!

Note; Don't the goal posts just pull out of wholes in the ground????

Yes, good point, because the two games are really comparable, aren't they?

Last season it was the final game of the season, and we miraculously escaped relegation, preserving our place in the CCC, and last Saturday we again ......oh, hang on. :(

Good photo's, shows very little violence, goading on both sides yes, violence no. Also looks as though the smoke bomb is coming from the away end, nothing to say that it hadn't been thrown in there first, just that in the pics it is clearly coming from that end!

Going by the amount of smoke in the away area it appears to have landed there first and been 'returned' there are a few vids on youtube that look like saints threw it, but other people reckon a Burnley fan saw a Pompey fan throw it. Guess we'll never know f'sure??

Not forgetting you would get smoke from lighting it, holding it for a few seconds then actually throwing!!!!

Again nothing to sat it hadn't landed there first!

Yawn, the middle aged and middle class moaning about kids getting on the pitch. Its tradition for a pitch invasion on the last game of the season, do you lot want to change everything about football. Form an orderly queue for your prawn sandwiches.

My thoughts exactly !! some of the pitch invasions ive seen over the years made this look like a tea party think highbury 1984 agains Everton !! its on youtube somewhere, somebody post THAT and watch the fools choke on their prawn sandwiches!

I'm with you on the pitch invasion, but lay off "doing skids", alright ? :D

PS The smoke thing definitely came from the away end first, all I was doing for the 20 minutes after the pitch invasion was standing there watching all the nobbers on the pitch near the away fans and unless someone chucked it from off the pitch without lighting it first (I wouldn't put it past them), the first time the yellow smoke could be seen it came from the away end.

The account from the Burnley fan also confirms the first smoke bomb came from their section (and that it was a Skate that did it, apparently).

The smoke bomb was first lit by our fans and then chucked before it was properly smoking. It was then chucked back when it was fully smoking, hence why it looked like it first came from Burnley fans.

So why is there someone on here claiming to be a Burnley fan who says different? I'm sure admins will have checked his IP location by now to see if he's genuine...

Also, I was watching closely enough that i think I'd have seen a "partially smoking" smoke bomb thrown from the pitch...

Here is a link..... pretty damn obvious it is being lit on the pitch, thrown ( although not fully ignited ) and then thrown back a few seconds later.
