however..apart from two of them, the rest are really really awful, YET they get told how talented they are and how many records they will go on to sell...

I agree with you Thedelldays,most of the singers are off key and wouldnt come up to the standards of the popular singers of today.

I cant stand that young singer Cher,why does she have to keep talking loud in the middle of her songs?Guess i getting old.

I think its all fixed anyway.No one gets told how many votes they get and i think the judges decide whos going to win way before the end.

You gotta admire Simon Cowell for cashing in on the type of people who follow this closely, and buy the records that get released afterwards.

It's trash TV obviously but fair play to Cowell for seeing the gap in the market

I just don't get why it's even watched any more, let alone one of the biggest showns on TV. Then again there are a lot of things I just plain don't get.

February will mark the 10th anniversary of the creation of Hear'say (from wiki, I don't know the date they were created). That's a decade of Pop Idol, Fame Accademy, X-Factor etc. and still people tune in every Saturday night to see which HMV check-out assistant will get the next 15 minutes of fame. It's just the same s**t every time. Why does this not get old for so many people?

Thanks to a great Beef Wellington from a cracking butcher in Marlborough accompanied by a very pleasant Cote du Rhone thankfully I am in a state of mind that numbs me from the pain that is the X Factor, that the miss us and tin lids enjoy. That said Mary whatsit is the only high point most weeks.

If this is the best undiscovered british talent we have, god help us.

Disagree with you lot entirely. They are talented....Mary is a good singer but the question I keep wondering is this. What song will whoever wins it sing? None of them write so they all have limited shelf lives.....probably a plus point for Simon

cher cannot sing...she pulls funny faces and makes poor attempts at rapping...then gets told how wonderful she is and claims she is going to change english music.

Shows like the X Factor do nothing for music.

Not so long ago you had to be different to be noticed in the music industry.Now you have shows like this one where everyone tries to look the same and sound the same.After one or two records everyone forgets who they were.

Apart from Butlins and cruise ships,(where these contestants will end up),none of these X Factor hopefuls will contribute to the progression of music in this country.

What ever happened to music being exciting and new?

I feel sorry for the youth of today.

Where as past generations had the likes of Elvis,Beatles,Stones,Elton John etc what have they got now?

It's disgusting that it is billed as a talent contest. If they want to chase ratings by keeping in the sh*te but interesting people (not to me fwiw) then go for it, but don't try and make out they are better than hundreds of people who were turned down in auditions and boot camp.

I lost all interest in the show last year when Jedward were in the bottom two with Lucie Jones - who was easily the best in the competition - and the f*cking twins got put through by Cowell and co.

Even more ridiculous is the fact that she has slid into obscurity whilst they have sold millions of records.

Completely agree with you. Lucie is however currently in Les Mis in West End and has sined a modelling contract.

If they cannot win Xfactor they at least can go onto bigger and better things like win I'm a celeb.................jeese, give me strength.

The mongs are not the people on the show, but the mongs who vote, the mongs who buy the singles, and the mongs who buy the magazines. ie The General Public.

Prior to these (XF, BGT etc) who do people think made all the money from the commercialised home entertainment business? Just Simon Cowell is out there fronting his own venture should not make him and his shows the target of such jealous anger imho.

It's the mongs who watch the show and buy the records. There are two guarantees about the Xfactor winners song. It will be sh*t and it will get to number 1. Agreed, in a few years time people will look back on them and rate them up with the greats like the Beatles, Sum 41 and the Vengaboys.

My sister used to go to Laine Theatre Arts in London. Before one of the series started a load of X Factor execs came to watch all the pupils to decide who to put through for auditions etc. It is a complete fix and I haven't watched an episode since the Gareth Gates one.

I have recently had a load of building work done and I'm up to my neck in DIY. The good thing about this is that instead of saying to the Mrs that I woud rather watch paint dry, I can go upstairs, roller a wall, pull up a chair (with a beer in hand) and watch the ****er dry.
