Quite. Ball crossing the line is not even "VAR" anyway. Its communicated to the referee in real time at the moment the ball goes in.

If the offside rule didn't exist then the sport of football wouldn't exist as we know it whatsoever.

When we were promoted from this division last time we had Fonte and Hooiveld who basically played 40 games or so, and no other CB played even ten games (eg Danny Seaborn played 3 times). That's basically what you are looking for. Why on earth do we or any other Championship team suddenly need five or six front line centre backs? How is it "madness" to "only" have 4?

No, I'm saying you're a fucking idiot.

Society didn't collapse because of the measures in place. Hancock did a shit job, no idea why you're trying that on with me sweetheart.

I reckon both teams will have about 68% possession each
-
It was something like "I don't want to come across as arrogant but really this just confirms what we all knew and that is I am the greatest human being on the planet" That was the general jist of it
-
I won that poll and no one can ever take it away from me. Quite an achievement for a forum that I'm not on.

Drooling over the mentalists saying 9/11 was an inside job.

What does this even mean? We're all going down the pub but if you work in a care home you can't go anywhere or see anyone? Life is lived forwards and understood backwards. It's pretty obvious we needed a lockdown to reduce transmission. You worked all the way through, have a fucking medal. Loads of people did, Including me as well.

The anti semite racist still denying it then.

Potter finished below Ralph for both of his first two seasons and they couldn't score for toffee. We have the opposite problem, but still it's a little early to write off our boy and his new system just yet.

It's my understanding that what Ryan Manning means is he would prefer it if Saints lost every single game and wishes we were all dead. Also also he thinks the fanbase is all slugs, just little slugs
-
It depends if he means the current culture of death by stats. If players are sat in rooms being briefed about successful turnovers or transitions or minutes in opponents half or whatever then that probably is a ball ache. As we know some stats are worthless, like 68% possession when you get gubbed 5 nil.

The Foxes mauled by a wounded animal
-
They've got the added advantage of not recently getting tonked 5-none.

I’d rather lose 3-4 than draw 0-0 every week, or something

No, but nothing does. You'd say a variation on that kind of dismissiveness if he'd been director of football at Peterborough or Celtic or Everton or Notts County or Cleckhampton Ladies. Nothing guarantees anyone will be a success at anything so maybe just pick our next director of football from the queue for the next bus to Sholing. Personally it felt like (and still feels like) an excellent appointment to get Wilcox in from City. Of all the things to whinge about I can't see how that is one.

Nobody hailed Ryan Fraser as the new messiah. Nobody.

We've already been destroyed in the League Cup this season by Gillingham. No one us going to be mistaking us for Manchester City anytime soon, regardless of how many of their children we take from them.

That's a dopey analysis. We haven't picked Russell Martin because we "refuse to pay a penny for a decent manager". There's no manager in the second tier who we couldn't afford to have if we wanted them. The club have made a stylistic/strategic choice with Russell and he'll be on decent money. We can analyse whether it was the right choice or not, thats fine, but what it absolutely isn't is some cheap budget choice or all we could afford.

SR will not muck about. If we are clearly off the automatic places come December I am sure they will act. The investment and the squad is top two, they are not here to be bimbling around in 5th to 8th. I remember arguing with a couple of people on here when Jones was appointed and them telling me that SR will stick with Jones for the long term, even if we got relegated Jones would still be manager. Obviously this was nonsence and the same will apply here. Russell Martin has been employed to get promoted this season. Not to build a long term project, not to create "green shoots" or "build a foundation". Get. Promoted. Now. He's got pressure he's never had before, but he's got players and resources he's never had before. Let's hope we look back on yesterday as the wake up call and the turning point.
-
In the world of bloody nine players on the bench he was literally there to make up the numbers. We'd have needed injuries to CBs to see him on the pitch today. If I was Martin and just seen Holgates performance after a week of preparation I would not be replacing him with someone with less than a day of preparation.

Listening to Tony Mowbray's post match interview, and the chat they had with MoTM Clarke after the game showed that managers and players can easily work out a game plan to beat us. We will win sometimes because we have good players, but we ain't going to be top 2 (maybe not even top 6) when we are incapable of keeping clean sheets and our style of play is piss easy to predict and counter. Martin talks a lot about the time it will take for people to "learn" the system, but the system resulted in Swansea having the second worst defensive record in the Championship last year. So is it worth learning?
