Haha, you'd think so, but thats such an Arsenal thing to do (or was). Time will tell I guess, but my source on this was basically as good as you could get.
-
Things can change, but Cedric is wanted by both Arsenal and Spurs, with Arsenal his preference (but new manager may have an impact on that - was all but done before Wenger announcement). I cant say who the source is, but VERY close to the player.
-
Football is all about opinions clearly (that old cliche) as I happen to really like the bloke, love his attitude and effort and love for the club, etc but don't think he is a Premier League level footballer (yet!). We finished down the bottom end of the league because we had bang average players like Stephens playing much of the season. A really good squad player, but we need to find another Fonte, VVD or Lovren or we will be in the sh*te again next season. Dont think Pep will be after our Jack anytime soon, so Stones can probably sleep easy. All IMHO of course, and I wont call you a bunch of t***s if your opinion differs!?
-
Fair point, they didnt like his style at all but he did fairly well, but I'm sure you get the point. Another example is Big Sam at Bolton, a mate of mine follows them thinks he's a football, genius and swears he built the best 'footballing' team they have ever seen.... Jay Jay Okocha, Djorkaeff, Campo, etc. I think Hughes has showed a lot of passion, he seems to understand the club and the players looked (and sound) like they were playing for him.
-
Some managers just fit with certain clubs, and Hughes feels a good fit to me. Remember when we appointed Strachan and the fans were up in arms as he had just taken Coventry City down, and that worked out OK. Sometimes certain managers just work at certain clubs, and I have a feeling that could be Hughes with Saints. Fulham & Palace fans think Roy Hodgson is the best thing since sliced bread, yet WBA and Liverpool fans think he is the worst manager ever!?

I fear that goal today will send us down. Being above both Swansea and Huddersfield tonight would have meant we could afford to lose the next two and probably would have still stayed up. Now even a point away at Swansea might not be enough as we will likely lose to City. We’ve won only 2 in 23, so sadly I think we will lose both our remaining games. I’ve been the positive one amongst friends until now, but that goal has knocked me for six and I feel so low that I think only a miracle will save us now
-
Thanks Tizz. Maybe this is a plan for those wanting to stop central first then, we will head here for sure (unless there is another suggestion). Getting excited now.... COYS!
-
A few of us were wondering the same. Would like to go somewhere more central for beers initially, before heading to Wembley, as The Green Man is a bit sh*t. Does anyone know of anywhere the Saints fans might go beforehand?
-
The Chelsea fans seem delighted with this, as they think his back up, Emerson Palmieri is the better player.

I have 3 x Adult Tickets available for this game if anyone is interested, as we cant make the game now Happy to take £45 for the 3 (£15 each per ticket - we paid £20 each). I am based in Bournemouth if you want to collect, or I could drop in Andover as parents are there, or I could post them 'recorded delivery' when they arrive with me (club have said they should arrive tomorrow). Email me if interested: louis@see-digital.co.uk Cheers.

I feel the complete opposite.... I would rather we got to the FA Cup Final (maybe win it) and go down to be honest, and we do have a chance (a slim one) so I'd love us to go for it. I heard an Arsenal fan on the radio last night saying he's enjoyed these last few years of reaching cup finals (and winning a couple of them too), than he ever enjoyed 21 years of finishing Top 4 to qualify for Champs League. Personally I feel so disillusioned with Premier League Football at the minute, that the thought of a sunny day at Wembley and actually having something to cheer about is way more appealing. I was lucky enough to be at Anfield last year when (against all odds) we got to the EFL Cup Final, and wow what a feeling that was. We cant give up on the fairytale of another Cup Final, you just never know.
-
And he only started 5 games....
-
Again, I think JWP is probably one of the few that does care (a little)
-
I disagree, I would rather there was a positive feeling around the camp and some confidence, rather than a 'we are already doomed' attitude. Once it reaches that stage, teams seem to give up all hope and wait for the inevitable... like WBA it seems. JWP is not stupid (one of the few), they all know the reality and seriousness of our position I'm sure. But hopefully they do genuinely feel they can get out of it and put this season behind us.

Saints FC Podcast - Daily Telegraph's Jeremy Wilson
St Louis replied to twoandahalfstuds's topic in The Saints
I enjoyed that thanks, Jeremy is a friend of mine and I do always enjoy his coverage of Saints. He was 'outed' as a Saints fan on SUnday Supplement not long ago which was funny, as journo's do try and keep their allegiance under wraps if they can. I personally agree with the majority of his thoughts, especially how we've been spoilt these last 5 years, and forget too easily that where we are now is probably our true position, and what we all 'enjoyed' so often throughout the 90's and 00's! Who doesn't love a Great Escape? -
Absolutely! Thats the coldest I have ever felt in my life! Wind, rain, sleet, no cover, no goals...

Not sure why we would want/need an App when we have a responsive website? Apps are useful for some businesses, but for us it would likely just replicate the website.

Shall we just forget all of the good work and progress that he's helped bring us over the last few years then? Its too easy to just blame one person, he didnt have the sole decision on the players we sold (because they wanted out) or the Managers that have left us (because they wanted out). Would he be the best thing ever if Poch or Koeman hadnt walked out on us and we were still Top 10? P.S Im not a happy clapper, and im certainly not happy with the current state of affairs! It just frustrates me when we decide to blame people (via guesswork) without knowing what really goes on behind the scenes. Maybe he is the only one who fought to keep these players when the rest of the board wanted to sell?
-
I dont think we even have any 'youthful talent' coming through anymore.... it was inevitable that our model (develop > sell) couldnt be sustained forever, it was always going to catch us up
-
Theo Walcott & Jack Wilshere Two players who could add flair and goals to our midfield/attack, and who will both be motivated to play games and get a World Cup place. Two talented players who were flying a few years back and very highly regarded, but have had a poor couple of seasons. We are often good at turning these sorts of players around (Crouch, Palmer, Romeu, etc) who have maybe struggled a bit at their previous club. And I think realistically we would appeal to them both, maybe with wages being the only stumbling block.
-
Apologies if thats the case, and there is inside info that the squad and football community believe he is a very poor coach. Personally I've not heard anybody speak badly of him or his ability, but I've heard many on here put 2 + 2 together because we've been crap for a couple of seasons now (since he joined us) - forgetting we've lost all of our best players in recent seasons
-
How do you know that then? I assume you're guessing/assuming!? How do you know we wouldnt be even worse without his coaching... oh you dont, you're just speculating.
-
Exactly this! And dont forget how cr@p Graziano Pelle and his goals were too...
