  1. Alcohol is ingrained in our culture so suddenly banning it wouldn't work. Cannabis is not the same. it's widely used but it's not normal to have a joint with your nan whilst eating Sunday lunch (in most houses). I just think making it illegal puts off many people, especially kids, from doing it which is a good thing. Of course thousands of people will do it anyway, doesn't mean a war is being lost.
  2. “You’re very different now since you played for England. You never used to be like this.” Doesn't sound like something a grown man would say to another in a heated argument.
  3. 3rd round day used to be one of my favourite days of the sporting calendar but it's not quite the same anymore. I'm not even interested in going to watch Saints Reserves vs Burnley tomorrow. It's a shame. I don't know how much money a club makes from winning the cup but it's probably dwarfed by the prize money of a few places in the Premier League. In days gone by I think the cups used to be a bit of a money spinner, that's the difference.
  4. But it being illegal did put me off doing it when I was younger. Legalising it will just make it more acceptable and accessible and I don't think it's a wise move even if it does make some money through tax. Alcohol is a very good example of a drug that has been made normal and accessible to everyone - look at the problems caused by that.
  5. I don't think legalising it would help, it would just make it more acceptable to kids IMO. I know the fact that it was illegal put me off doing it when I was younger.
  6. “You’re very different now since you played for England. You never used to be like this.” - I find it hard to believe it was over that. It was probably “You’re very different now since you played for England. You never used to be such a ****.” I find it hard to believe Saints would make such a fuss if it was the former, hopefully they will come out with a different version of events, and get one of those lip-reading guys to confirm it from the TV footage.
  7. I always thought you were sent off for swearing at or insulting the ref. That was the case when I used to play (along time ago granted).
  8. Our start was easy and we had few injuries to key players, that is all.
  9. **** it, you've convinced me. I'm on your side now, it's all nonsense. I'm going to ignore the consensus of the World's leading scientists and concur with some bloke who names himself after a missile and posts anonymously on a football forum. That's the sensible way forward, our country's leaders should take note. When deciding on policy instead of consulting the experts go on a football website and see what the local sarcastic arsehole has to say.
  10. I think the role of the rain forests in the theory of man made climate change is quite obvious to anyone with a GCSE in science.
  11. Have you got any further with your cosmic ray theory yet?
  12. Yes by the press and the ignorant (eg. see numb-nut's posts above). Serious scientists will look at it in context of long term trends.
  13. I will be p!ssed off if we put out the reserves again. Maybe rest 1 or 2 but no more.

    Weather

The drainage at St Mary's is very good. I think the only danger of waterlogging is if there is really intense rain just before kick-off, even then I think they can just wait half an hour or so and it will drain away (think that has happened before).
  15. But if we flog Lambert and end up finishing 12th instead of 9th we will lose £8mill in prize money anyway. Not sure that is good business, especially given that we could easily spend £15mill on a replacement that turns out to be garbage.
  16. I would only sell if we have a decent replacement lined up. £8mill is decent money for someone of his age but if the team goes to c*ck we could lose that in league position prize money anyway. Plus we have shown you can easily spend £15mill on garbage nowadays and Lambert is one of our best players.
  17. I have no issues with France or Spain controlling their own immigration. I expect you will find they will still welcome retired wealthy Brits and skilled british workers.
  18. Of course immigration has it's benefits, it also has it's negative effects which is why it should be controlled. No one is saying stop all immigration. My company employs a load of Polish, we were doing just as well years ago and never had any problem getting English people to do the jobs just now to compete with the company down the road we have to. As long as it's the unskilled work no one cares but it's inevitable that soon the same downward wage pressure will be on skilled jobs. It depends what job you do but chances are that somewhere there is a better qualified Romanian willing to do it for a fraction of your salary.
  19. It is madness. Wages wise it is just going to mean a quicker race to the bottom. Nothing will be done as long as it's just the unskilled or low skilled jobs they are taking up and we can moan about the lazy british workers not wanting the dirty jobs. It's just a matter of time before the more skilled jobs will be filled with people from these countries willing to do it for a fraction of the cost.
  20. You just don't like the fact that "anything but Lowe" has turned out to be the best option. God knows where we would be if we still had Lowe and the PLC still in place, probably in the lower reaches of the Championship at best, "cutting our cloth to fit" on an eternal downward spiral. As Morph says, we can laugh about it now.
  21. And without the rugby coaches, or Steve Wigley manager type appointments. Lowe was completely unsuitable and we needed a change. That's why even someone like Michael Wilde was welcomed with open arms. And thank god we did.
  22. And you were so right about Rupert Lowe! LOL
  23. Just like you knew the Lee Rigby murder was a false flag operation carried out by our own government.
  24. Yeah, but I think it was pretty much the whole fan base apart from a few loons on here. The thing is, knowing what we know now about Wilde, I would still back them ahead of Lowe because at the time the club needed to change and they were the only option. We were on a downward spiral, Wilde and co were never the perfect people to run a football club but presented with the choice it was 100% the right thing to do. That's why when nobheads like Guided Missile started on him with their own personal agenda they were rounded on.
  25. I live near Southampton and someone was murdered there once.
