  1. He does a few great touches/passes/runs a match which negates the bad stuff it seems. Henderson gets credit for running around a lot and playing for Liverpool. Not sure about Rice, perhaps too early to tell but haven’t seen anything of international quality. The midfield got dominated most of the game.
  2. Unfortunately there is no credible opposition with Corbyn too left wing and flip flopping all over the place, he’ll still lose to this incompetent rabble currently in charge whenever the election is likely to be.
  3. So plenty of rest and no injuries to players but lack of match fitness?
  4. I’m sure there will plenty of added time!
  5. Do you know who owns Gigg Lane and any covenants on it?
  6. They could go before the 12th. Head of the supporters group puts saving the club at 50/50.
  7. Greed and owner/recruitment incompetence are the main reasons for any club being liquidated. When Blackwell was manager of Bury for the start of 13/14 season, the recruitment was so disorganised trying to get players in and although no fees paid, salaries were too high considering the number of players recruited. I’m only surprised the club lasted this long.
  8. Unfortunately both owners are money grabbing ****s. Phoenix clubs would be the best bet, but then it would be highly likely the new clubs couldn’t afford to buy the grounds. Weak governance from the football league and their rules for the golden share hasn’t helped.
  9. Agree. If Martial is out, that is a benefit as he’s one that has performed well. They are not the force they once were and our guys should want the chance to beat United.
  10. What! When do you think they will get promoted?
  11. I thought I read it also depends on other transfers occurring further up the food chain. But it seem strange if for the sake of an additional contract clause a player that is seen as important to be competitive in the PL is missed. The down side of course is whether they turn out to be more Hoedt than van Dijk.
  12. Technical ability will be missed but mental fortitude? These days if the player isn’t a ‘team player’ it can be counter productive especially for mid table sides when team performance is key to beating better sides and those of equal ability .
  13. Please let it be true.
  14. His first two seasons at Sunderland were 13th and 10th I believe. Depends on who he can bring in transfer wise. They desperately need a striker for one and there is only 3.5 weeks left.
  15. Che interview in the guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jul/17/che-adams-interview-southampton-non-league-thurnby-lodge
  16. When the fun stops... it’s too fücking late!
  17. Squad is light for midfielders, even accounting for Armstrong.
  18. Sounds like an admin role... getting the mail, organising meetings and rooms!
  19. Do you know how much he went for? Enough for a decent replacement or are they relying on promoting from within?
  20. I’ve only seen a few games, mostly England’s and the officials have been woeful. If they were somehow competent in applying the rules, VAR use would have been limited and the games less of a farce. Going forward, FIFA need to think about whether having a big toe, foot, leg or whatever is having too much of an advantage to the attacker and if the rule remains as it is many goals are going to go for VAR review unless a clear and simple way to interpret offside is established. The same for any infringement that has an important impact. Perhaps the time when a referee is no longer on the pitch or is there for minor violations is closer than I thought with the fourth official in his high chair, issues verdicts on goals, penalties and red cards through VAR! Or perhaps players will wear technology to help the continuous flow of football rather than the stop start we have at this WC.
  21. Not sure how a winger can be back up to a no 10.
  22. It shouldn’t happen if they can’t agree on at least the £15m fee. It weakens the defence too much where at least that amount of money is needed to be reinvested.
  23. I remember Richard Dryden and the 5-0 horror show at Newcastle, in January 2000. A promising start in 96/97 quickly degenerated into anonymity with loans to third division teams and his only and final appearance being the 5-0 loss in the 99/00 season.
  24. Interesting view... generally a good mix of tough and easy fixtures. Perhaps Oct/Nov could be potentially tricky if things aren't working as Ralph planned.
  25. Other drivers, particularly but not exclusively: Those that don’t anticipate an overtaking manoeuvre and either take an age or are too close to the car in front for you to overtake. Those that do 40 regardless of speed limit.
