Someone needs to write a very strongly worded letter to the BBC about this.

Is the January transfer window a waste of time?
Doctoroncall replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
It's a sticky plaster over a wound which hasn't stopped bleeding... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2270311/January-transfer-window-doesnt-work--Martin-Samuel.html -
I don't think a club can rely on continually changing the squad in an extensive and costly way each window to constantly improve and claim to be ambitious. It's up to the Manager to get the best out of the squad rather than rely on a new purchase to do the job for him, besides the ethos and ambition of the club is to progress as much of the academy products to the first team.

Yeah, only expensive business

All those YouTube clips to go through, we need extra help.

But they do have Roger Espinoza who played extremely well on his debut against Stoke. Him and Beausejour are the ones to watch out for.

Fergie says "Southampton are best team to play here all season"

Absolutely, for all that dominance and style (which I like), the quality in the final third needs to be much better. -
So another Leeds play goes to Norwich in the form of Becchio this time!

The points penalty will be applied at the discretion of the FL, but only after they come out of admin. So it's seems possible they could get points deducted this or next season, however the longer it takes the more likely it will be next season if the current form continues. there are so many scenarios, it needs a decision tree to see all possibilities!

I've got Steve Mcmanaman and Ian ? on ESPN2. Both united luvvies.

I see Nelson is off to Toronto now, is something happening to Hill?

If we've playing top trumps... Post #28 ;-)

I thought NC downgraded the target to top six in 3 or 4 years, with the caveat of holding on to the core of the squad in his last interview with Jimbo.

Survive and be backed or get relegated and be sacked??
Doctoroncall replied to pangy's topic in The Saints
I'm not sure that there will be a huge amount spent in the summer especially if MP can get a couple of the decent Espanyol players that are free at the end of the season. A couple of aspects he was brought in to do was - work with the current squad and improve them; and integrate the youth players into the team so, much will depend of the deficencies he finds to possible transfer targets. -
Indeed, they do get paid eventually but Saints are certainly the worst culprits of the clubs he deals with. Also, this isn't directly NC.
-
Just to add a bit of balance, I know a service provide who states Saints can be a nightmare to deal with and are invariable late paying.
-
You'd think playing the bottom team at home would be a great chance to see a win so expect a reasonable attendance for the season... Oh no, they get neither!!!!!!
-
If Norwich can get a decent forward this transfer window, they will be OK.

The angle of the text is all wrong for a start. Good wind up though.

Liverpool had bulked at the reported £7m price, I'm not sure if that accounts for the 40% sell on fee or not, it's still a hefty price.

follow a helicopter on my super motorbike and dig up the precious metals before the the helicopter lands, otherwise buy repo properties in decent areas and do them up to sell them for a huge profit.

Are people beginning to see what Cortese is up to?
Doctoroncall replied to ByTheGolacs's topic in The Saints
This captures it for me. If MP can maximise the resources at the club perhaps we can do better than expected. Obviously as stated above that could mean MP getting better offers and the need to search for another manager... unless there is the internal succession planning for the coach but we know how that's turned out before. -
It will be interesting to see if Calum Chambers will get a chance of first team action this season.

This is a strange situation. I thought Adkins was going to be Saints manager long term, be able to learn and grow into the job, build steadily as with the improvement with the first team squad. Yes he has faults like other managers too but was certainly keen to learn and move forward. As an executive chairman NC is in the position to look after the business - there are certainly some aspects he can improve on there (contractor relations, timely payments and control). But he's the man with high expectations which others he brings on board have to take and deliver on. From what I've read MP has done a decent job at Espanyol, much I can see being replicated here - expansive football, youth development and progression. It's certainly a gamble at this stage in the season for this type of change but MP will get my backing. NC is a **** of the highest order but has shown to make some sound decisions, NA is a good manager and I'll follow his career with interest, MP is an interesting appointment and deserves support.
