  1. Baines hasn't had great games in the WCT, why didn't Roy choose Shaw for the Uruguay match or was it too much of a risk? If Cole had been in the squad, an easy change to make to challenge Baines to up his game and with little risk. Don't see the point of Shaw being there if he's not going to play.
  2. I don't think England have beaten a higher ranked team in a World Cup Tournament in something like 40 years over 90 minutes, so it was odds on England would crash out at the group stage with Italy and Uruguay in the group. Perhaps to give us a better chance next time, the manager can at least set up the team with players that are experienced in playing in the positions they have been for their club rather than expecting them at the premier tournament against world class teams to play in a position that is not familiar.
  3. And Gerrard shouldn't be playing in front of them.
  4. So there is going to be synchronised bashing one out... well at least the same start time?

    Oven

How do you find the induction hob for cooking? Getting a range this week with induction hob (no gas in the area).
  6. Would be happy with Koeman, Yakin or Benitez.
  7. Maybe they are also trying to line up some players (new or replacements for any outgoings) nice and quietly?
  8. If true, that means MP doesn't want him at Spuds as they have first dibs on him. Which leads to other possible questions like are the board close to appointing a manager and are any CBs departing, are Spuds one destination?
  9. I hope gets his chance at the World Cup with England and the champions league with Liverpool. The bloke deserves it and thanks for the FIVE years of service.
  10. I think you are right and there is only a slim chance of holding on to players for a season or two from the academy, unless they are average or perhaps there is a cup win in the team. All we can hope for is that we can produce a couple of stars each season and use the money wisely like Lille in the transfer market to slowly move up the table unless KL wishes to spend in excess of £250m in transfer fees and wages. That would be extremely unlikely, but at least our academy is I assume part of the strategy the current board have in mind to see the club progress. The manager selection and transfers will show what ambition and the type of progress football wise they mean.
  11. This and the board have done excellent job in challenging times.
  12. Hopefully a statement all will like, from players to fans.
  13. Just hope we get someone better to replace him.
  14. No.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/champions-league/10846759/Champions-League-final-2014-Britons-who-have-played-in-the-European-Cup-final-with-foreign-clubs.html
  15. It should make flop of the year easier to decide! "The film cost a reported £19m to make, with Fifa said to have pumped £16m into the project, and flatteringly portrays Blatter, Rimet and Havelange as visionaries and icons of the global game. Blatter himself was reported to have tweaked the script." more here and here
  16. It's strange that many of the US terminals are not set up as commercial assets with little to do or comforts. It's been a while but JFK and LAX are very sparse for that. Same with Basel and the security can take an age. Dehli was a sh!t hole which wasn't help by some blokes have a dump in the open space next to the terminal when leaving for the hotel. Best are T5 - organised, lots to do but hassle to go to the satellite terminals , Singapore - great to wonder round and best wash rooms, City - it's quick to get through, SFO - you board directly from the lounge!
  17. wow, I'd keep away from heights, trees with rope, fast cars and drugs if I were you. I can't wait for all the I told you so threads from which ever opinion just so happens to be correct. "Anyone can cut costs, it takes more to do build." ... and there are many ways to do both and f**k it up. It's how it's done that is important. Cortese is being judged on five years and an easier achievement from bottom of League One to 8th in the Premier League. The new board are being judged to improve on that and have only had a few months to assess the situation. Hardly fair at this current time.
  18. Atletico were 100 to 1 third favourites to win the league, I'm not sure what our odds were but would imagine smaller so backs up your comparison argument.
  19. I'm sure that drum of yours needs another beat, otherwise all you'll get is scorn.
  20. Plan for summer: It all depends on whether Adam Lallana, Morgan Schneiderlin and Luke Shaw leave. If they stay, then Southampton can concentrate on finding extra cover in central defence and the wide positions. If they go, and Mauricio Pochettino does too, then a major rebuild will be required. Transfer kitty: £30m Most mouth-watering rumour so far: Fabio Quagliarella (Juventus). JS from the guardian
  21. This is what I thought the reason for not having it fitted was, being on the 'warm' south coast. If it's going to get so cold to freeze the pitch, I would imagine the safety of fans would be at risk and the game wouldn't go ahead anyway.
  22. Top work Bearsy. And a nice contribution from Pap. A nice summary of what BS was and it seems still is on other sites.
  23. It could force the issue as it seems MP is their number one target. So hopefully the manager position will be resolved in the next few weeks.
  24. I would agree, but I don't think spurs were in a position to keep him. Perhaps they could have gone to the next stage of forcing a player to hand in a transfer request but those days are long gone. Better to keep on the good side of players while negotiating a good deal. I think we will be in the same position with a few of our players.
  25. TBH, all the world will see is a future player rather than a Saints player. After a long season, could be just as good to cash in now before injury than having a good WC.
