Felt like a defeat. Double substitutions should only be done when winning at a canter or emergency panic mode to pull back the game from a losing situation. We lost our shape and needed more bite in midfield with Vic not able to get stuck in due to his yellow. Romeu would have been a better option. The internationals obviously took their toll, Bertrand was way off the pace and Mane and Pelle didn't get any service or got into any positions to get the ball.

Quite a few assists from MLT in there as well. Shame it didn't work against Italy in the qualifiers way back when!!

I've got hundreds of plastic bags - here in Dubai they seem to think you need a seperate bag for each item and each till has somebody packing for you whilst you are unloading your trolley/basket, before you get a chance to do it for yourself. Think on my next leave I'll bring back a suitcase full and set up a stall outside one of the big supermarkets selling bags at 3p each!!

I was at OT last season and absolutely loved that win, but the manner in which we won y'day was such a pleasure to watch, especially after the way the game seemed to be going with the ref determined to help Chelsea out at every turn with soft bookings and pen claims for us turned down. The team kept their cool and carried on and got their just reward.

That 1st half performance by the ref was one of the worst I have ever witnessed How did we get 3 players booked for their 1st tackle of the game, yet Ramires got away with about 5 before he was eventually booked. The 2 pens for us, he had a perfect view of each, but failed to see VVD's shirt virtually being taken off his back, and he seemed to be about to blow for a pen with Mane but changed his mind. Maybe Mane made just a bit too much of it, and paid the price by getting booked the next time he was taken out!! The icing on the cake was reacting to Chelsea fans claiming the ball wasn't in the right place as Davis was about to take a corner ..... yes Chelsea fans appealing and he jogged 20 yards to check it!! I'd loved to have seen Moronio's meltdown if he'd been on the receiving end of those decisions!!

Pretty much how I feel as well!! Not much chance of a repeat of my 1st ever away game back in our 2nd ever season in The Top Tier .... Sept 67 .... Chelsea 2 Southampton 6 Big Ron bagged 4, Martin Chivers 2 and even future Saint Ossie bagged 2 as well. Soon found out that not all away games are like that, pretty much all down hill since then!!

Damn you ..... I was trying to suppress that nagging little thought back, like trying to hold in a particulary noxious phart when stood in a queue or in a lift Wouldn't surprise me to see a 5-0 win to Chelsea, because as you say ... that's basically just the way it is!!! However Saints seem to be made of sterner stuff nowadays and I am holding out for a 2-2 draw, although it means Chelsea coming back from 2 down
