  1. 2.5 million is "only" what 50k a week. What do we reckon our top players earn? I thought I read the premier average is now 2 million.
  2. Actually I think this has legs...if refunds are given everytime a team lose then Chelsea fans will pay the most to watch their team over the year and QPR, Burnley etc will pay less. Perhaps it will sway the plastics away from the top 4 and to supporting lesser teams as they will get their money back more often? Going to a cup final would be great...if you lose it was just a free day out to wembley!
  3. I am sure true Man U are gutted they have so many plastics...Those plastics allow them to turn over 10 times what we do...they allow them to pay Rooney 300k a week... they allowed them to spend a british record transfer fee this summer for a player...they allow them to do a shirt deal which dwarfs our commercial income, in fact the sponsership on their training gear is probably more than our commercial income. they also fill a 70k seater stadium every game and ensure that they are shown on TV as many times as any other club. If you are going to be successful people will jump on the bandwagon. Liklihood is that the income from them will allow you to become or sustain success. Unless you are all prepared to buy 6 shirts and season tickets each, commercial growth will only come from the "plastics"....I welcome every convert to the Saints, even if they never go or spend any money hopefully they watch when we are on TV and they will raise our viewing figures and make it more attractive to show more of our games. I like meeting other Saints fans and talking about our club. I couldn't care less how many times they have been to a game or if they ever even have been to the city..I am glad they are Saints fans and not a supporter of Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea or the idiots from merseyside.
  4. Inherently people are lazy so the more difficult you make getting tickets the less you sale. IMO if they were on general sale with no restrictions from day one it would have sold out in a couple of days. My son isn't coming as I bought his tickets on my season ticket and so wasn't able get a ticket near me. Now they are on general sale he'd be miles from me so isn't going to bother. Perhaps a lesson for the club here?
  5. If I were Liverpool I'd snap their hands off for 290 million and start again. They could get a good squad with that much
  6. A group did get a Graziano one going a bit at half time (to Karma chamelion) it's ok and good on them for starting something new, went something like Graza,Graza,Graza,Graza, Graziano he scores a goal , he scores a gooooal, repeat
  7. Feeling very sorry for Rogers who constantly reminds us that he lost 80% of las seasons goals last season. With j rod out too got any idea who much of last seasons goals we have lost Brenda? Perhaps you should add those you bought from us into the last seasons missing goals tally? IMO Liverpool have had some class managers in the past but this guy just has very little in common with them,
  8. If that's true why would clubs expand grounds? Spurs Liverpool and man city are currently looking to expand Chelsea seem desperate too as do Everton? Maybe you could argue that they do it for the prestige? Or to have the largest income from gate receipts in the case of leaner times if the sky bubble bursts? I don't see that they want to disengage from their support just they want to make the brand available to the widest possible audience, perhaps the fear is that if the brand is not growing it will shrink. After all if it were not for sky we would not currently have a team fielding with so many 10 million pound players?
  9. Surely it would have been in place of Hull not spurs?
  10. Yeah he did come over after chamberlain did. Nice touch especially after the treatment he got. Wondered whether Chamberlain would as it's been easy for him and Walcott do do it so far as they have not lost (easy be gracious when your winning) but credit to him came over and applauded the same as he has done everytime we have lost or drawn.
  11. Tell you what though at least shaw is seeing some great games sat on the bench. He could have been watching a load of 0-0 draws.
  12. Now that survival of the fittest is no longer an issue (what with medical advances and welfare state supporting those that otherwise would starve. Does this mean we live at the end of human evolution or will separate species evolve over time based on class and wealth? (Although as Katie price is proving the reality star trend means anybody even without talent can have wealth now)
  13. I'd rather he go to city than spurs scousehampton or Man U though.
  14. Yeah but don't there season tickets include the first 10 cup games or something?
  15. When being pitched to (2 weeks ago) I was told 17 sold full season (I am sure it was said there are 49?) selling for games on an individual match basis for example there was 11 left at the time for Liverpool home. I assume it was accurate.
  16. Not sure why it has to be a contest between the two? Cortèse took us to where we are. KL has now hired someone else to run the club doesn't make either the devil. Personally I had my doubts about KL but from what I saw when sitting near her and RK at the Leverkusen game, talking to a staff member who feels the club is a great place to work now, and seeing one of the young liebherrs going back into the stadium to pick up a couple of programmes to take away for after the game reading says to me they are interested and enjoying the experience. Will she own the club forever? Probably not... Will we win the champions league? Probably not....will Morgan stay long term? Probably not.(won't matter who is in charge that's not going to happen) However am I happy KL owns us? Yes I am now and even if we struggle I am behind her. A few years ago I never thought I would see the day when I saw a saints team containing one £10m player let alone a few and a £10m pound goalkeeper! Long may she be our owner. She has done all she can to give us a chance -she doesn't scout, buy and train the players after all! I feel she now deserves our full support.

  18. Which is why I said "appear to" rather than they have? However he was on tour with city in America so I assume they weren't following him round at half time negotiating terms?
  19. The frustration is that others seem to be able to complete signings but we keep hearing statements saying this week etc but very little action? Sunderland don't appear to have taken long organising Rodwell to come in yet we still wait for another loan? Are players just not willing to join us?
  20. Talking (or ribbing) my Liverpool supporting mate last week I was surprised what he thought about Rickie. I explained to him that what he described to me, I had never seen in Rickie in all his time with us. I also asked him why the world class player he described only played 3 minutes at the World Cup? If he is typical I think Rickie will have a tough time meeting those expectations, Perhaps those fans only ever saw our few highlights on MOTD and seem to have a slightly warped perception of what they have purchased!
  21. I am actually a bit appeased by the happenings yesterday and at least the board stood up and stopped the rot. Morgan Is likely to still go at some point but nothing else they can do. I haven't forgave them for the mess we are in but at least they have made a stand at last and communicated with the world. Therefore to lighten the mood and Seeing as most of our player songs have gone with the exodus it is likely to be quiet at the first game so surely we need to think up a few new songs, here are a few suggestions from me....this is just for a laugh not a dig at the club but thought a couple of gallows humour songs might be a laugh. "Who the ****ing hell are you?"- we can sing that to any one of our new squad? "11 men went to mow, went to mow a meadow. But then les read, he sold them all Fecking dopey bar steward" "We've come from league one. We've come from league one We are southampton we're back off to league one.' "Have you come to buy our team?" "He plays on the left He plays on the right He's also for sale If the price is right" I am sure you can do much better?
  22. He likes to rewrite history doesn't he? Long term plan? Oh yes it was always the plan to set up the academy (well rather expand it a bit as it was already producing players and the radio station) but then go into admin fall to league 1 then find a rich backer to take us back so we could show off the academy products and sell them for 10's of millions? Gotta admit he had that plan nailed.
  23. Who is your source? What level within the club are they? Can you ask questions of them? Are the board really so naive that they didn't think that we had to get players in before selling everyone else? Even spurs understood to spend the bale money prior to his sale becoming confirmed. Can you ask them if the board are sanctioning refunds on Season tickets as I want my money back? Finally you may wish to get them to give us an update on how they (the board) sleep at night having taken millions in wages whilst destroying the club? When they drive away in the rolls I bet they don"t give a **** about what they have done as the club has enough cash to keep bankrolling their lifestyle.
