  1. Playing a 'half court press' up until the half way line, and then letting the opposition dictate the ball is painful to watch at home. The whole team needed to move about 20 yards up the pitch last night.
  2. Not sure I've seen many people say that. A lot of people I've spoken to have not warmed to Puel yet because his style of football is so negative and bad to watch
  3. Don't have problems with him, it's not like he doesnt try, he just lacks quality, not his fault. He's not good enough yet to be first choice for a Premier League side, which is why he spent a lot of last year on the bench for Norwich!
  4. Gone backwards for sure. Hopefully not so far that we're in the mix for relegation. Pelle was always a short term replacement for Lambert, who was coming to the end of his career anyway, Tadic was a good replacement for Lallana and Mane was a great replacement for J-Rod while injured. We carried on playing the same way, with a very slight change. This season we've taken our goals away, and also a rock in midfield, and completely changed the system. Doesn't make it easy for new players to have to settle into a squad with players who are also learning something new. It was always going to be a struggle when we knew Puel was going to make big changes.
  5. Might as well be manager too. Couldnt do a worse job than Puel.
  6. If you're not going to take the competition seriously, then dont bother putting the effort in to qualify. Puel has got this competition completely wrong.
  7. You would like to think that given the noises coming out of the club, we'll stick out our best side and secure qualification. If they get one goal, we have to score two....also it will be interested to see whether Jose starts given the happenings this week.
  8. If he was the finished article, and as good as we want him to be, he would have signed for one of the big boys. Let's face it, he's going to be inconsistent and incredibly frustrating at times. We just dont want to get to the point where we are relying on him to create to help us win. Fortunately we'll have Tadic back soon, Boufal is starting to show us what he is capable of, and Sims looks very lively and impressive. Surely the first choice "front 3" is Boufal/Austin/Tadic...?!
  9. Formation doesn't suit him...he's better when he's starting central and can run the channels, and then has other players joining him. When he is stuck in a channel, he is far less dangerous IMO.
  10. Seem to remember we were linked with him quite heavily before he went to Villa. Looks impressive.
  11. Guess we'll see if the club is intending to sell this summer, as the players we'll be linked with will probably be replacing current players. As much as I over JRod, I think he has to go somewhere where he will play every game, maybe 6 months in the Championship will do him some good. Think we have to bring in a striker, ideally one who can hold the ball up and score from the hundreds of crosses we seem to put in the box (don't know if this is true, just feels that we swing a lot of balls in with 0 success rate) Historically we've been linked with Ruben Semedo, Ziyech, Franck Kessie, Ademola Lookman, Djibril Sidibe, Thomas Partey, Sebastian Haller, and of course Chamberlain.
  12. Would go with the following for this one. -----------Forster Cedric Fonte VVD Bertrand ----------Romeu------------- ------Davis---Clasie-------- Boufal----Austin-----Tadic Hopefully Tadic is fit, if not, would like to see Sims/Austin/Boufal as the front 3.
  13. It's in CNBC, stream isn't working on Sportsmania yet.....!?
  14. Don't need to rest VVD, he's a beast.
  15. "Two ex-players have told me they were abused at Southampton during the 1980s. More in paper, and online in the morning"
  16. ------------Forster-------------- --Cedric VVD Yoshi Bertrand-- ------------Romeu--------------- -------JWP-------Hojberg------- Long------Redmond-------Austin Assuming Fonte is not available of course, we need a win, time to step it up and start well. I fear that if we don't take an early chance, then we will lose/wont score.
  17. Isgrove is just nowhere near good enough. Surprised he's still with us if I'm honest. Fonte is rested in Europe, VVD rested in the league cup....nothing to do with a Jan transfer, and who buys in Jan for one competition these days anyway.....
  18. Impossible to say at the minute. Redmond has had a decent start to the season, whereas Boufal has barely played and apart from the one goal vs Sunderland, has done bugger all. Once he is match fit and up to speed, its a better time to compare them, but at this present time, Redmond is the better option if it is one or the other.
  19. Yep, certainly feels like the worst league season in a good few years, been punching above our weight last few years. Not sure we have the goals in us to compete towards the top end as we have done the last few years. I guess we also have the impact of Europa league on our squad. I'd take top of the bottom half, and a good cup run or two, certainly not worried about relegation....yet...
  20. Been a good signing, and will be a fine player in years to come, hopefully for us.
  21. Does this count as "stripes" on the back? Would look terrible if it was a full red back with a fat white stripe on the front. Lovely kit though if we can have the white on the back too.
  22. Got no problem with what he said. He likely wanted assurances we weren't going to sell our best players and we were going to give him a sizeable transfer fund to invest and improve in the summer, along with a personal pay rise. We didn't want to go that way and we moved on. Such is life...
  23. Really.....grow up. Yes the way he went about it was poor, but he was awesome for us, and all part of the clubs rise. I don't "like" the bloke, but I wouldn't wish anyone a serious injury.
  24. Cheers for that Glasgow, interesting read.....
  25. -----------Forster Cedric Fonte VVD Bertrand ----------Romeu------------- ------Hojbjerg-JWP--------- -----------Tadic-------------- ----Redmond-Austin-------- Injuries Permitting......Taylor, Mcqueen, Boufal, Clasie could all be involved. Expect Davis to be in for JWP too.
