Just had a call from my mate who is a lifelong Reading fan and he reckons that we have made an inspired choice ! Good football knowledge, contacts, eye for a player, serious about discipline, fitness and winning ! Sounds like a good reference to me !

A rational, sensible appointment IMHO ! Is it too much to hope that we will have rational and sensible fans after our first few (inevitable) losses ??? We now have a solid structure but need some patience to let things evolve in the right direction ! I am optimistic for the first time in about 5 years !

Renewed my ST this morning and was really impressed by the attitude of the counter staff ! The lad who did the transaction had a laugh about my age, the bird who gave me the free Ajax ticket had a laugh about my seat being already booked (I have sat in that seat since SMS existed but couldn't bring myself to complain cos it was free and cos she was so nice and open about it!). A real feelgood factor which I have not felt for a long while, roll on the new regime ....

FFS I really do not believe this ! I guess that if we lose the first 3 games you will start calling for the return of Rupert !!!! Last week we nearly never had a club at all, so please be happy with anything that comes our way in the near future ! End of rant !

My guess is that, as part of the 'clean sweep', they decided that if he was going to anyway it was best not to string him (and the fans) along ! That way everybody knows where they stand at the onset which seems to me an honest and legitimate business approach !
