Having travelled pretty extensively in my working life, you cannot believe how many people around the world associate the city of Southampton with the name 'Le Tissier' ! I met people in Asia (I specifically remember China, Malaysia and the Phillipines) who, when I mentioned I was a Saints fan (and without prompting) responded immediately with simply, 'Matthew Le Tissier' ! My French colleague even tried to claim that he was more theirs than ours (no higher accolade is possible from a Parisian !). I do hope that in my lifetime I see his contribution to SFC recognised in some meaningful way ! When I see some of the arseholes in politics, business etc.. who get awards for so called 'public service' it pales into insignificance to what he has done for our sport in the south of England !

I could never get a signal on the West Wight (not exactly a million miles away!) and even when I used my (top of the range) digital portable radio near to St Mary's the reception was krap ! The only thing I remember about it was the last set of accounts from SLH (when it was The Saint FM ) which informed us that with a turnover of 240k they made a loss of 200k ! It was around about then that I came to the conclusion that Rupert was not exactly the super duper successful business man that he and others claimed him to be ! No great loss IMHO but obviously I feel sorry for those who have lost their jobs as a result !

It was obviously one of those 'slow burning' evil spirits then !

On the same day that the Skates have been bought by an Arab Zillionaire, we can't even pay the staff wages so you really have to wonder if there is a supernatural conspiracy against us ! I really look forward to the day that we are beyond all of this krap and can focus on a simple game of football to excite the soul once again !!! To the best of my knowledge McManus and Magnier made a good profit when they sold their shares at Man U to the yanks and are about to do the same to Ellis Short at Sunderland ! Given their track record in football and probable personal contact to Mick Channon it all does tend to add up ! 2 + 2 normally = 4 but in this case we are talking about the Saints, so look out for a little leprachaun in the woodpile !!!! The clip was very much edited (you can easily tell from the phased gaps) so he might well have mentioned Saints and many other things as well !!

It's a pity that the previous board didn't get it, nor many of the posters on here who seem to blame the supporters for our demise !!

A lot has been written on here about absentee supporters being part of the reason for our financial freefall in the last year or so but if you consider reality perhaps it is not really so unexpected ! I reckon that there are 4 main fan categories which apply and which most clubs outside the elite would expect to exist : A) DIEHARDS - those who follow home and away without fail ! B) REGULARS - those who follow at home and occasionally away ! C) CASUALS - those who pick and choose depending upon situation/performance ! D) GLORY BOYS - those who come when we are playing important games or top teams ! The new owners have to take account of this and gear everything towards matching the team to the league ! Early results next season are vital (especially at minus 10 points) so if we can attract a fair number of cat C and maybe even cat D then we will move forward but if we fail to recognise that supporters cannot be fobbed off with con tricks (last year's reserves = total football etc..) then I guess we could be looking at longterm stagnation !!! I stand corrected !

Personally I feel that he is underrated and that his languid style belies his commitment and leads some to think that he is lazy ! His first full season has been in a poor team with strange management decisions surrounding him ! It would not surprise me to see him become a fairly big star one day ! I would hold out for a sizeable fee for sure !

Not if Bradley and Nathan got there first !
