The bottom line is that if Pinnacle want to buy SFC then they will have to accept the -10 penalty and move on.... (prevaricating on a point of principle is now holding us back!). To have any chance of quickly regaining these points they will need to start employing a manager, building a team, getting it fit, selling tickets, hoisting flags and rekindling the 'Spirit of Sothampton' ! I am fully supportive of the Pinnacle group but really do think that we are at the stage of come on ' let's get the show on the road' !!!

Forgetting the legalities for a moment, does anyone really believe that Saints gained any advantage over other teams in the league last season because of our financial situation ? Having loaned out Rasiak, John, Skacel, Dyer and Saga because they were too expensive, means we surely weakened our position ! The minus 10 points for administration is a 'catch all' rule but is hardly fair and equitable in many individual cases, is it ???

Given that today has been an important day in the turbulent life of SFC you really would have thought that the OS would have shed some light on developments at some time during the day ( Mark Fry has reported on there before BTW) ! If the club decide that he is worth keeping then perhaps they should attempt to renegotiate his contract with sweeteners ie : a) reduce wages now and we'll spread the rest over a longer contract. b) reduce wages now and link the extra payments to goals scored. c) reduce wages now but receive a big bonus if promoted. I'm sure that some creative contract bargaining could be arranged, particularly as he does not seem to be in great demand from elsewhere at the moment !

Presuming the reports about him already having met with MLT and TL are correct then the odds are that he is probably staying ! Personally I will back any decision that the new owners make on the basis that our unconditional support can only be good for the club !
