I would have started the match with that, Brighton were there for the taking and we should have bombarded them from the off rather than playing with a (non scoring) single striker ! Things improved almost immediately after the half time subs were made and would have been even better had Tadic stayed on (instead of Davis) to give a supply line to Carrillo ! All IMHO of course !

Personally I thought he looked pretty sharp tonight and most sitting around me thought the same ! Had some nice touches and looked strong ! With 2 up front in the second half we looked so much better than in the first

Totally agree with this statement, I accept that over the Xmas period when we have 2 or 3 games in a week, changes are inevitable but now the priority is teamwork and the best way to achieve this is through consistent selection ! Key partnerships in defence, midfield and up front can only develop this way IMHO. Clearly there will be some injuries, suspensions and maybe even one or two new signings in the mix but the fundamental challenge now is to find your best side and stick with it ! I often consider that managers think that they are ever so clever and that rotation proves it but when you look at the most successful one right now (Pep G) he seems to do it far less than the others !

I regularly flew over from Brussels to Southampton airport when I worked there, in fact I got to speak to Jelle Van Damme as he was often on the same flight ! Once flew to LHR, hired a car, drove down in driving rain only to find that the evening match v Palace was postponed ! Would be much more difficult nowadays as there are no longer direct flights from the two places !

"Who's to blame" ? The endless list of perceived mistakes serves what purpose ? Surely a thread on "Who do we support" ? and "How can we help to improve things" ? would be more constructive ! I do not pretend to have any/all of the answers but I am acutely aware that the constant abuse of club custodians (at all levels) is doing nothing to lift the energy required for the 'backs to the wall' dogfight we currently find ourselves in !
