  1. Jimmy Case also used to hang out in the Alex a bit, normally looking scruffier than the students that drank in there. Mark Dennis was the regular postman who came to deliver parcels for a while when I worked at Nintendo and would always be up Northlands Road watching the cricket after work. Seemed a decent chap. When my son was about 3 he got told off by Beattie in a lift in West Quay for crying about the colour of the balloon he had, haha.
  2. Anyone else disappointed this isn't a thread about the classic N64 game?
  3. I served quite a few in my days working in Virgin Megastore. Ken Monkou was the nicest, would always chat about music, films and football. I convinced him to buy Leftfield's first album and he popped in a few days later to thank me because he liked it so much. He also had probably the largest laser disc collection in Southampton, mainly because he was pretty much the only person that ever bought them. David Hirst was by far the grumpiest I ever met and basically quite rude. Helped a mate do some filming with Benali back in the late 90's. We got taken around Staplewood and went to his house. Absolute legend. Had a few chats with MLT and he's always been friendly and happy to talk. Of the more recent players I've met Shane Long who is a nice guy and Ings although that was before he signed for Saints so I wasn't that bothered about him. If only I'd known, haha.
  4. This is just bizarre
  5. Thought I read that any points deductions would be implemented next season?
  6. Just watched PMQs. Starmer again made Johnson look a bit silly, this time on the Russian intelligence report. He ended up resorting to his stock waffle about flip flopping because he didn't have any actual answers.
  7. They should put the 3 relegation games on after all the others. None of the teams they have to play will have their fate decided by playing at a different time so let's get the other games out the way and then sit down and enjoy it.
  8. What you really need is the bootleg 12" naked picture disc of Lady In Red. https://www.popsike.com/CHRIS-DE-BURGH-THE-LADY-IN-RED-RARE-12-NUDE-PICTURE-DISC-PROMO-INTO-THE-LIGHT-LP/172459073967.html
  9. Definitely try and keep him, he's one of the best LB's in the league. Weird that we've never sung his name considering he's been here for so long and consistently performed well.
  10. Mark Hughes is available and has experience of helping a team avoid relegation from the top flight...
  11. Man Utd keep changing their GK coach which probably isn't helping De Gea. His set position has been tampered with, and for that second goal he dived backwards for some reason. It's basic stuff that kids are taught so I'm not really sure what's going on there. Feel sorry for him, he was incredible for a long period but seems to have lost it.
  12. Inga cocked up a penalty in pre season with the same stuttering run up. It was so bad that the keeper just stood there and picked it up. I thought then that letting him take pens was a bit risky. At least the miss yesterday wasn't crucial.

    Coronavirus

Regards people being tested, or having the virus my experience is that I know one person who died from it (he was the first person in Southampton this happened to and was old with health problems) and one person who has tested positive. 1 other person I know had all the symptoms but this was way back in March when tests were not readily available so it was never confirmed. My brother in-law who worked on a Covid ward hasn't had it, but a number of his colleagues did.

    Coronavirus

Obviously the biggest breakthrough in Coronavirus treatment comes from Southampton.
  15. Adams for me. Fits better into the system at the moment because Obafemi often goes to sleep and can't be trusted to execute the press properly. People should remember that this is as important to Ralph as the goals they score. That's not to say it can't be coached into him and when he's 24 he could well be a better player than Adams is now.
  16. Probably should have scored 4 but all the misses were worth it because they contributed to that hilarious final few minutes. Would have been a proper good away end today. Thought McCarthy was very good apart from the spillage in the build up to their non-goal. Made a few decent saves and dealt with everything launched into the box. Please sign Walker-Peters.
  17. He's our best player at slapping the badge and fist pumping to the crowd. As for football ability, he's alright. I guess he's mostly noticed for his energy and throwing himself about in midfield. Fairly good technique, decent first touch. Passing is hit and miss, most of our fans would say he plays the safe ball too often. His long passing isn't great. Not particularly skilfull in the fact that he doesn't dribble round players, he's more likely to barge through them. Shooting is about as erratic as it comes. Can smash them from distance but as likely to be on target as they are to hit the big screens above the goals. He's not as bad as people are making out on here, but then that's often the case when players are leaving especially when they changed agents to force a move and started saying stuff like they want to play for a Champions League team.
  18. Even if we had nothing to play for and it meant Pompey were relegated? That would be the only time I could even conceive of entertaining the idea.
  19. Leeds next season then. They've been close to promotion so many times it was about time they made it. Will be interesting to see how Bielsa does. Will at least provide some entertainment with their style of play.
  20. Watford have to start off going for the win because they have Man City after and wouldn't want to leave it down to the last game against Arsenal.
  21. Terrible first half, above average second half. Should have won. Thought Vokins was ok especially as it's just his second game. Smallbone looked a bit lost although he had no assistance from an utterly useless Hojbjerg for most of the first half. Obafemi was not good at all. We should be signing Walker-Peters.

    Coronavirus

PPE government contracts given out to companies run by their mates without any procurement. Reported in the guardian and telegraph for balance. It's stuff like this that really grips my shit.
  23. Also worth considering that along with his relative inexperience he also hasn't spent a long period of time playing under Ralph in our system. The more he plays the better he will fit in. If we can get him for an agreeable price he could be a very decent signing.
  24. What the actual fuck is going on in Wigan Vs Hull?!?!
