It goes way back before then. When I first started going to games (1967) Spurs were our "rivals" (I know some people have a problem with that term but they were proper rivals in the footballing sense, not because they were local). I always assumed it went back to the Southen League days but as I am not quite that old I can't be sure. The dislike for Spurs goes much deeper than what came later with Pompey, we used to quite like Pompey (though we did always stand in the away end at Nottarf Krap). So those who think it would be a good thing to have Spurs beat Chelsea under any circumstances is really quite difficult to stomach for those of us with a bit more history. Mind you we used to dislike Chelsea as well.

Tom Jenkins used to get a lot of abuse as well. Even Mick Channon did in his early days. McCann wasn't the worst by a long way, should have been decent, he was good before he joined, just didn't work out.

Excellent, another non-scoring midfielder.

Except you missed Exeter.

Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official
VectisSaint replied to Sergei Gotsmanov's topic in The Saints
That would be the same Sam G who was described by a Rovers supporter on Twitter as the one who has not won a header in 6 months. Sam did well in the early part of the season but has not done much this year until today. -
Unless he actually scored a goal as well, that's not possible.

Not much in there actually written by Crook, most of the article appears to be quotes attributed to Cedric.

It really isn't something to argue about o rdiscuss. It is a fact that Academy includes under 18s, and Jack played for us in the u18s (he was 17 when he signed), ergo he is a product of our academy. He is also a product of Plymouth's academy. These are facts. Theo was a product of Swindon's youth system (academy) as well as ours, and yes he was also an under 18 at Arsenal (not sure if he actually ever appeared for Arsenal at youth level). Bale joined Spurs shortly before his 18th birthday, he is a product of our Academy (specifically the Bath Satellite) and no-one else's.

Think I might take Petr Cech as well

More likely that Jason McCarthy will be backup than Valery at the moment I would imagine. With Pied seemingly back to fitness we are overloaded with decent right backs (assuming Cedric stays). We also have Caceres who by all accounts is better as a RB (albeit in a 3) than he is at CB. Would think Martina's departure is guaranteed already, hence his lack of game time even in the u23s.

I wonder if Koeman really is interested, or whether this is just a 2+2=5 link by the Star. He was Erwin's signing anyway, out of contract and frankly not good enough. Lots on here thought he was the dog's dangly bits though. Nice bloke and gave his all, but won't be too sorry to see him go, as expected.
-
He was clearly fit when he played for the U23s. He just hasn't been needed because Stephens and Yoshida have been excellent. You don't drop players who are playing well for the sake of it.

or not...

Was decided long before Fonte left. He actually wasn' t the obvious choice which is why Davis is now the Club captain.

It was a goal kick wasn't it? You can't be offside from a goal kick(or a corner or a throw-in).

Sad indictment of this Forum that more people think Leicester will be relegated than Middlesbro. That would be the same Leicester that are 13 points above Middlesbro, eight above Swansea, and one point behind Saints.

Only if Hull also get a point at Man City.#falsefacts

He is actually (misreading the most recent results), but you are right as well, and I can see why he might be confused. I hadn't noticed that all the away results in November, December and January (except Bournemouth) are the wrong way round, but all the results before then and since are correct (as far as I can see). Odd that no-one noticed before, or maybe it just shows that few really read the programme these days. [Couldn't reply earlier as my 3 posts had been used]

Hopefully you realise that you are mis-reading the results. Home team first For the EFL Man U were designated the "home" team.

Luke Shaw's stalled development. What does it say about our academy?
VectisSaint replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
It doesn't say much about us, but illustrates that when you are at clubs like Man U or Chelsea, there is not the support there to help your improvement. If you are bought by clubs of this ilk you are expected to already be the complete player, managers like Mourinho are not particularly talented at coaching young, inexperienced players, they don't need to be, they get them ready-made. Shaw made the move too early, as did a few of the others who jumped ship, they get the money at the big clubs but not the development that they still need. -
James Ward-Prowse for England? ...say that again ...
VectisSaint replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
The most notable thing about him is that he is a yard or two quicker than he used to be. He used to be ponderously slow, and since he did not show too much technical trickery he was often completely ineffective. He is now noticeably quicker, and able to show a bit of trickery and hence he is getting into positions where he can influence the game. He is also able to commit himself more and get into scoring positions where before he was chasing hard to catch up. Think much of his improvement stems from this apparent increased mobility. This and the fact that he is playing further forward, his defensive abilities are still rather ineffective. Well done to the guy (and probably our coaching staff) for putting the work in to improve. -
What a load of crap. Unless we end up getting relegated VvD will be here next season as he has agreed. For once we have a player who is a man of his word but some people cannot understand this (partly due to the Club selling anything that moves for the last 3 or 4 years).
-
You have to be completely thick to think there is no chance of us going down. Quite sure we won't, but there is clearly a chance. Win tomorrow and things will look much better.
-
Whatever happened to just enjoying an individual game? Really find this idea that it is all about the season and how we finish a bit odd. We never used to worry about the season, as long as we avoided relegation. It was always about going to see an exciting game, goals and hopefully 2/3 points. It's why I have not been happy this season. With a couple of exceptions, dull football, lack of wins, no real passion or excitement.

Looks fine in the training video.
