ART this is wrong on so many levels, have you been on the whacky backy or something?
-
Maybe, maybe not. Stupid question to ask when the bloke has only been on the pitch 5 minutes. Stupid question even if he had been on the pitch for 5 matches.

Maybe the Grauniad have mixed up their pounds and euros. Given they mix up letters all the time, it wouldn't be a shock to find they can't tell the difference. Would explain most of the difference.

Praises Nigel Adkins' Southampton, not Praises Nigel Adkins. The Echo feel the need to clarify that they are talking about Nigel Adkins' Southampton, just in case you thought they meant Ian Branfoot's Southampton. They could have just said Arse praises Saints and most of us would have known who they were talking about.

Wrong, innocent until proven guilty. There could have been reasons for him not being found guilty, mostly technicalities, but nevertheless, it is still the case under English Law that you have to be proven guilty.

Nothing to do with player development, it clearly states that it is for release of players for international matches for qualifying matches and finals matches weighted with the FIFA categorisation of clubs for training compensation. Shrewsbury almost certainly released some players for the Welsh team in qualifying matches, probably more than we did for any European teams.

I see that the Club is actively looking to build up the Bath satellite academy again, with new Recruitment Officer and Lead Coach being sought. The Bath academy has never ceased to exist but certainly has not been to the same standard as previously for the last few years. The Bath centre is critical to our success at Academy level, bear in mind it was responsible for Gareth Bale and I think Nathan Dyer at least, almost certainly others. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/job-opportunities-at-saints-358513.aspx

95 minutes against Team GB, and played in the other 2 group matches as well, so definitely not his first 90 minutes this season

Nearly half the PL teams have the same awful design. I thought it was just some contract we had got into that we couldn't get out of, which explains why besides us Reading, Norwich, Swansea and QPR have the same design (though Wet Spam seem to have avoided it, presumably because they did not sign up for the contract when they were relegated). But how do you explain that Stoke, WBA and Wigan also have the same "design".

Who has dismissed this? I just questioned why Castrol come out with football stats? If they are based on OPTA then their stats are probably pretty good, and probably exactly the same as any other company who want to jump on the advertising bandwagon that is the PL, but can you tell me why Castrol?

I see Walcott is sick, and so was Sturridge, Hodgson hopes its not something going around in the camp. Would be just our luck that it is, Walcott recovers by the weekend while new recruit Adam Lallana is laid low with Englanditis.
-
Just a thought but what the **** do Castrol have to do with football? If they were rating F1 drivers I might be a little more impressed.

Actually it is, when the body begins to tire the brain begins to switch off. This is why under Strachan we were so good in the last few minutes of matches, we were supremely fit and were still mentally alert in the last few minutes, the time when most goals are scored in games. I would suggest that Fonte is perhaps not quite as fit as he needs to be, he makes very few mistakes, but they are crucially during the last few minutes. Clear that JWP and few others are already very, very fit, including Lallana, which is why it was a surprise that he was subbed against Manure, you need people on the pitch who are not going to switch off in the crucial last minute or two. I believe NA has ensure that our players are very fit, but perhaps a little of the stamina work that WGS used to put in would not have gone amiss for a few.

Part of the reason why Cortese wants to move the away supporters to the Kingsland/Chapel corner. Cameras are primarily located in the Kingsland, so don't see the Kingsland corners. Its what should be done but some folks think it would ruin the atmosphere - like it would ruined the atmosphere against Wigan.
-
We made several chances, hit the bar twice, Wigan keeper made plenty of saves. We really should have buried them, they were woeful, but they had 2 clearcut chances and scored both (although the second one was really inconsequential as we were going to lose anyway). Our problem against Wigan was our finishing, we could have played all night and we still would not have scored. It is really the main difference between Championship and PL, the clinical finishing, and we are just not clinical. We should have scored many more against United, we certainly weren't denied by their defence too often which was **** poor for the most part, though they did prevent Prowse from scoring.

It hasn't always been the case, Mick Channon would not have captained England and won 46 caps if it was. It really started with the **** Ericsson and seemed to be backed up by the Beckham/Neville union who resisted certain players being included. Like you I have little or no interest in England partly as a result of this (and partly because international football is so utterly tedious for the most part). It would be nice one day for Rickie to be recognised with a cap or two, but I would not be too unhappy if he manages to avoid being dragged into the England circus, it doesn't seem to do anyone any good. Its ironic that the Mirror article mentions amongst others Swansea and Saints, two team that play the passing game, where touch is important, and yet England cannot play this way and their touch is awful (did not watch the "game" against the might Moldova so if they played one touch, pretty passing football I would have missed it, but I bet they didn't).
-
If you read the article it actually says quite clearly that Saints have not watched him: "Saints have been in touch to say they are going to watch him over the next two weeks to see what they think of him"

Bloody hope Adkins has learned his lesson and doesn't go for cameos off the bench for new players again. Unless he can be completely effective we should wait until fully integrated before starting him.

LOL, I thought Jay Rod was transferred from Burnley, turns out it was from Burley. Burley play in Div 4 of the Haywards Bournemouth League. http://www.burleyfc.co.uk/club/114283/Home Explains a lot about him not seeming very good so far. Even Mike Wilde no longer lives there.

Unfortunately I don't even agree with what MLT has written, it really is open to question whether a "reasonable man" would really write something that even suggests there are "pro Cortese people". This is not a playground Matt, there are not 2 gangs of people. There are people who are adult and who dislike this petty behaviour and there are immature children who treat this like a game and want to get one over on the other person. Matt is one of the latter and needs to grow up. Putting stuff like this on Twitter just continues to make him look like a very silly childish prat. Cortese may be a little of the same, but at least he has the dignity not to use silly so-called social media aka children's toys to have a go. Do the decent thing Matt, contact Cortese, meet with him in private, sort out your differences, show some good grace and then STFU.

Surely a billion at least, or is that a billion nowadays?
-
owen was 17 once and from Cheshire, are you saying we need to get youngsters from Cheshire because ones from Dorset aren't good enough? At least "our Harry" is not a injury wreck (yet). Cornick may turn out to be the Dorset Michael owen (or should that be the Dorset Marian Pahars?)

So you haven't considered the possibility of giving it to someone who actually supoprts the opposition or something. This is the reason tickets are non-transferrable. Of course in an ideal world it would be nice to be able to give tickets to anyone with no fear of recrimination. Have you tried transferring a ticket for a concert purchased from TicketMaster recently? This is not something that is peculiar to Saints or even football.

The figure of 4.7 billion almost certainly relates to the total global cumulative Premier League TV audience in the 2010-11 season: http://www.sportundmarkt.com/de/press/press-releases/2011-11-12.html It is not a made up number, but like several of the other parts of the Zambian Mail article it is taken somewhat out of context. Seems a common failing with papers called the Mail.
