  1. Well I think this is a major part of our problem. If we had a crap pitch then we would get used to it and also be able to play on all of the **** pitches when we are away from home.
  2. http://www.facebook.com/jordansibley I would imagine this may be Jordan. If you google he is actually quoted frequently on the web, never heard of him before though
  3. Except one, and since then he has had 2 seasons of being top of the leagues. he must have been crap
  4. Watford / Sheffield Wed / Palace also have financial problems, probably more so than Posh and Plymouth.
  5. Clearly it was Barclays that put us into Admin, thats the way it is. Lowe could not do that, but he could have forced the issue, but as we know he was too pig-headed to admit he was wrong. Of course he was also pig-headed enough to think that the FL would not shaft us with a 10 pt deduction because it was SLH that went into administration. he didn;t count on there being an equally unpleasant character in charge of that organisation who leaped at the chance of shafting us. In the end although Lowe is fairly and squarely to blame, in some ways it may have been a blessing in disguise. Would we have been bought by Herr Liebherr if we had not gone into Admin, no. I suspect that Markus may have also paid less for SFC as a result of the 10 point deduction. That said I will always hold Lowe responsible for the relegation, administration and the 10 point penalty.
  6. The answer to the original question is of course blindingly obvious to all on here. But thats not really the point is it? This is a young nipper, who is just starting his lifelong journey as a Saints fan (hopefully). When you're a nipper the players you see are your heroes. Rickie will never hold a candle to MLT in pure footballing terms. But then I come from a generation before MLT, and personally I consider Channon and Davies as better than le Tiss. Its subjective, but le Tiss came along at a time when football was not as big a part of my life as it was before or since. I recall taking my step-nipper along to see MLT on a few occassions, bigging him up only to be hugely disappointed with his showings, guess I just picked bad days. Depending on how old the nipper was I think a better comparison would be Beattie, similar sorts of players, brilliant with free-kicks and so on, and JB did the business in the PL, not the 3rd Division. But Lambert is class for the level he is at, probably too good, but I don't think he is good enough for the PL, and would struggle. Anyway, let the nippers form their own opinion and not try to influence them by ramming old DVDs down their throats, they will probably learn about that when the get a bit older. Heroes are for today, you can't make a retired player a hero for a kid.
  7. Thats because although it may have been the worst score, we actually played very well, and were unlucky not to have won, 2 late goals when we were going for the win made it look far worse than it really was, management and players recognise that and gain confidence from the performance, not the result. Its only supporters who look on that day as "our worst defeat". I would argue our worst defeat was away to Swindon, or perhaps even at home to Swindon. There were probably others (but not many because we haven't lost many all season), but those are the ones that stick on my mind.
  8. Did NC ever mention Director of Football. I though it was actually Sporting Director, he was looking for someone on the Board to help him with the football side of things. Not necessarily the same thing as the DoF role traditionally. Anyway I though Coppell was in for it, but looks like he sees himself back in management with Bristol ****ty instead, maybe he's had a rethink of his future after being out of the game for a while.
  9. There's always a bit of rivalry between teams in the same County, but not always a bitter rivalry like with the Skates these days. Everyone wants to be the local top dog. Just because Bournemouth was transferred to Dorset in the 1970s by some faceless beaureaucrats doesn't mean this sort of rivalry disappears. I've always had a soft spot for Bournemouth and will continue to do so, as long as we take 6 points from them next season. I would also like to see Aldershot promoted, for a while in the late 60s/early 70s they were effectively our reserve team (in their previous guise), several players who were cast off by Saints ended up there.
  10. It will help Saints most if Colchester win against Huddersfied, we can overtake Colchester if our own results work out, but we need Huddersfield to lose at least one of their remaining games, and Colchester is the most likely team to do that.
  11. See several posts below, it is not his 2nd red, the other one was overturned.
  12. Not bad actually for a town with a population of just over 40k!!!
  13. Probably because thats what "prevalent" means. "Powerful, dominant, widespread". Therefore ipso facto nearly everyone will agree with the prevalent viewpoint. Of course there will always be a dissenter or two, even if its often just to be different
  14. Nah, when we go up they will go down again, we will miss them as they spiral down the divisions
  15. You've still got Ceefax? No longer exists for some of us.
  16. Should have gone to Iceland
  17. 2-1 to Hartlepool now
  18. I suppose it depends on your definition of instrumental, but I would be shocked if AP was not very influential in the decision, probably recommended and NC would have interviewed (probably interviewed others as well), but in the end AP would have had a huge say. To think that the role of Reed is not connected with AP is naive to say the least, it is very important that you have someone you know and trust working the Academy and bringing the right players through. By the way, you are abslolutely correct that AP and LR did not work together at Charlton, Reed left for Fulham when AP was appointed.
  19. Doubt that very much. Suspect AP has been instrumental in bringing Reed in. It is all part of the same business, you cannot just pigeon-hole people in an overall business and expect it to work. NC and AP will have been discussing this for some time, together with Crocker and others. Just because Reed left Charlton when AP was appointed does not mean they don't know each other well. These top coaches in and around London all know each otherl, they link up on training days at England HQ and so on, probably play golf together (pure speculation on my part there of course but easy to imagine). Football coaching at the pro level is a very tight knit community, especially at a regional level, attending courses and so on.
  20. Nice video, shame its nothing to do with our man. Markus is not part of Liebherr, his company is MALI (Markus Liebherr International) and they have nothing to do with cranes. I want to know how they got that fecking thing down again. Also, the driver was Rupert, how scary is that?
  21. Only just (18 miles). At least Liverpool and Southampton are in the same country.
  22. Just shows how thick the Skates must be given he was born 3 years after the War ended.
  23. So actually you show that you know nothing about him (1) His name is Markus, it is spelled with a K not a C, why can't people get this (2) He has nothing to do with the Crane business, that is owned by his brother and sister. Markus Liebherr's business is the known as MALI (Markus Liebherr International), and specialises in heavy machinery, specifically transmission systems for railways. If you want o find out about his business look at the web site: http://www.mali-group.com/index.php?/en It is fascinating (not) and makes no mention of SFC. Wiki also has a decent article about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markus_Liebherr but does not include his home address.
  24. Really think this thread is a joke. Can't see AP wanting to go to Scotland, he doesn't seem to even be interested in going north of Watford, he's a southern lad, and clearly prefers to work where he wants to live, around London. I guess he might consider Manure, Citeh or Liverpool if offered but about as likely as Barca I would think. AP's star is in the ascendency again with the media hacks and the footballing world, seen as doing a great job here, he would be follish to leave, and NC would be follish to push him out.
