Of course I'm not joking, he didn't sign them, they are not Pardew players. Simples. he can praise them all he likes but they didn't come to SMS because of Pardew. All the others except Davis did. Thats what being a manager's player means.

Agree that they are the most likely, together with James. Not just because of potential but also they are not Pardew players, and so were not brought in as part of his visions. That said I suspect none of them will actually leave.

Imagine it might be quite difficult to find out too much about him. In 2008 he was "Head of Private Banking" at Banque-Hertiage in Zurich. Knowing the way that the Gnomes of Zurich conduct their affairs I would think there is not much in the public domain especially for a head of PRIVATE banking. Before that he was at Credit-Suisse I believe. Seems likely he was moderatley successful, presumably dealt with Herr Liebherr's accounts to have become his friend and confidant.

League One harder than normal this season?
VectisSaint replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Could actually argue that League One is very easy this year. There are 7 good teams, 16 total dross and Southampton, good but with a 10 point penalty and a crap start to the season. Fact is the Top 6/7 have been winning week in/week out because they are playing the dross below them consistently. The fixture computer this season threw up a strange set of circumstances where most of the Top 7 are home the same week and away the same week. This means most of them still have to play each other, and is why in the end the number of points for 6th will not be as great as some predict (but will still be too much for us to achieve). -
Football League Show 27/02/10 & 13/03/10, It Seems

Steve Claridge in realistic assessment of our play-off chances shocker As the man said, it is 6 from 7, and we ain't #7 -
I thought it was another thread about late goals
-
Seems to be some discrepancy somewhere, the Football League stats have been updated since todays game and gives Lambert's total as 20, not 21. Looking in different places on the web seems to give several different answers, but the Football League site is presumably the official source. By the way, seem to recall that Davies and Channon were also both near top of goal scoring chart one season back in the 60s, but can't be sure (and that was in the top division and all goals scored for Saints)

Is AP's job in danger today should we lose?
VectisSaint replied to countysaint's topic in The Saints
Maybe he was sacked at HT, after all we were not 10-0 up. -
Late goals are killing us Great win. Still won't make the play-offs though.
-
Check the Football League site, thats the official place. Other sites have different amounts. Of course now its academic as Lambo has scored
-
If Barnard gets a 3rd he will be League One top scorer, currently 4 way tie with Lambert, Paynter & Holt

Yes we do, no-one is as stupid as his predecessor (except perhaps Wilde and Storrie Teller) -
Saints v Walsall [formerly known as Warsaw] build up.

17 would be more accurate (Huddersfield have 58 now) -

Unlikely as they mostly still have to play each other. That said we will not get anywhere near 6th place. We will do very well to get to 8th. -

I fully expect AP to be sacked at half-time today unless we are at least 10-0 up. If we are 11th at this time next season your question might be reasonable, but NC is a sensible bloke, he appointed AP for the long term and thankfully is not stupid like his predecessor. -
Here's a quote from the BBC site, from the Administrator: Under Premier League rules, clubs that go into administration are deducted nine points. If, as anticipated, the League enforce this rule, Pompey would have a total of seven points - a massive 17 points off safety. However, Andronikou believes the deduction is not necessarily inevitable and hinted he may ask the League to withhold the punishment. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8539422.stm Hypothetical I know, but if this toerag is able to persuade the FA not to impose the punishment, many other Clubs, ourselves included would presumably consider appealing against the similar punishments passed down by the Football League. Of course this is a different competition, and different rules, and is also the reason why the toerag will fail BUT, maybe we should actually be supporting Pompey not getting the 9 point deduction and thus get our 10 points penalty overturned as a result. They will still be relegated and we could be a lot closer to the play-offs. Just a thought, lets support Pompey On second thoughts, naaaaa

Not too keen on the stripes and FlyBe, any chance of getting a white with red sash shirt with no Flybe and this printing on it? Sort of celebrate our 125th a bit early as well. I'm sure we could get some little old grannies to embroider the writing on the shirts so as to keep with the original design of the shirt

Common and decency, never thought I would see those 2 words in the same sentence as Rupert Lowe.

How do you predict saint's match results?

Tea leaves -
I will be very surprised if 6th actually do achieve 82 points. The fact is that between now and end of season the top 6 have to play each other several times and someone will drop points. It is a strange thing this season that almost every week all the fixtures seem to be top 8 v bottom half for weeks on end, and it is clear that there are 8 or 9 teams who are head and shoulders above the rest of the division (at least on a level playing surface) That said, we still will not get anywhere near 6th place, 8th would be the result of a very good run-in.
-
Hoping Arry gets a lot more than 18 months, and Mandic and Storrie Teller as well. What has AP done to warrant getting 18 months? Didn't even know he had been arrested.
-
Problem is that we are not better than any of the teams above us (except Charlton). We may be 7th best or even 2nd best, but with a 19 point gap this doesn't help. Even if we had had as good a run as Norwich we would still be 7 points behind Huddersfield, admittedly with 2 games in hand. Agreed we haven't been doing bad, but "not bad" is not good enough to get into the play-offs. The remote possibility of achieving this disappeared completely at St James Park Cabbage Patch.
-
Talk about clutching at straws. Even if one did go into Admin we would still need to be within 10 points of them, given Huddersfield are 19 points above us and Millwall 15, all of the Top 7 could go into admin and it would help us not a jot. I do wish people would accept that we have zero chance of making the play-offs this season. Nothing to do with last night, the Exeter game was the final straw (not just because we drew but also because everyone else won).
-
The reality set in after the Exeter game for me. This is not just based on us, but also the reality that the rivals for 6th spot (Swindon then, but no longer, Huddersfield and Millwall) were also in form and continuing to win more often than not and also win more often than us. Even if we were to have gone on a brilliant run, we would still not overhaul the team in 6th. In my view we will do very well indeed to finish 8th, I believe 9th is more realistic. I actually hope that we don't get to less than 10 points from the play-offs, otherwise I will be ****ed off that we missed out because of RL's ridiculous decision to delay administration.
