My children were reading this thread, I'm so unspeakably mad at this post... ...they now want to be frogs.

Not this summer...

1) That was definitely a goal for Ostenstadt. (His third). Fecking dubious goals panel. 2) Berkovic was class. When I first started playing football at school, I was told not to lean back when shooting. He did, and it still fizzes into the net. 3) Scholes and Beckham could still DAJFU. 4) That's my favourite Le Tissier goal of all time. Beautifully executed, and he celebrated in a manner similar to Cantona when he scored THAT goal. (Which was very similar.) 5) I made my mum tape MOTD that night, then bugged my parents all day on the Sunday when I watched it on a loop.

I put it on another thread, but Lamberts' goal against Leeds was the most important. 3 key points away from home, against the run of play, that we really didn't deserve. There's too many to mention though. Sharps first against Coventry settled us right down for instance.

Could anyone have got it more spot on than you? Amazing hindsight or a total fluke, it's eerie how true this all was/is. I like Tisdale, and who's to say he wouldn't have done better at a bigger club, but Exeter are on the slide to League Two. (Albeit they're standing by him for now...) We hit rock bottom and it only got better from thereon in. So yay for me. I'm not going to have a dig about this post, but what I have to say about it is it is exactly what a journalist on TalkSport said about Roy Hodgson yesterday. He's already written off Hodgson as a complete failure - even to the point when the presenter asked him if he's eat his words if England won anything or got close, and the journalist said he wouldn't have to, because England wouldn't under Hodgson. Closemindedness. Hodgson may be exactly what england needs, just as Adkins was exactly what Southampton needed.

I wonder if we get them, whether advertising would have an effect on our chants? "He plays on the right, he plays on the left, Adam Lallana thinks Pepsi tastes best."

How many youth players will break into the side next season?
SNSUN replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Sam Gallagher could also come through in the next couple of years. Plymouth seemingly becoming our feeder team, instead of us being Arsenals! http://www.football365.com/southampton/7649669/Saints-snap-up-Argyle-youngster -
Can't stand them, but money talks.

Lambert's goal, Leeds away. Live on Sky, we were absolutely battered all game, the one chance we had, he fricking smashed it into the net, with a shot of such class, you wonder why he's playing in the second tier. So many to mention though. Connolly's goal against Boro probably demonstrated how good we were in the first half of the season.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
SNSUN replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
I have a source (it's a made up thought in my brain) that claims we're ready to take Owen Hargreaves from Man City, as well as Michael Owen from Man Utd, both on free transfers, to add a bit of experience to the side. This will begin the "Owen The Saints" chants around SMS. -
re: Morgan on Late Kick Off. My missus says: "Morgan speaks very good French". Idiot. I know what she meant but it's funny to wind her up.

Great post. Norwich are my second team (my future wife and her family are most insistant on that) and I'm genuinely looking forward to our games together next season. My last Saints/Norwich game was in the JPT in 2009 (it seems such a long time ago now!) when we equalised in the 90th minute. My missus has never looked so gutted in her life. Cracking game though, with two teams that have exceptional support.

He's rubbish and Cortese would be clever to move him on in the summer. Dead wood, get him off the wages. However, peversely, he has Premier League experience and is a fairly versatile player, and is still at a good age. Me? I'd ship him off. However I wouldn't be surprised if he were still with us in August.

Are we sure that's not The Emirates and an Arsenal fan is holding a Southampton scarf? :-)

I want to wear fancy dress to games, but the constant worry of what my peers on SWF will think of me is enough to put me off.
-
No to Green. I agree that we may see Davis as our number 1 next season, and I'm happy with that - he's best at shot stopping, and we'll need that in abundance next season.
-
I was thinking this. It seems strange not to be playing at least one league game in May, and certainly finishing before the lower leagues is peculiar. Still, more preparation time before the Premier League season.

Which saints will have made their national team within the next year?
SNSUN replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Saints
Jos! Might put a bet on it. Lee is obvious. Morgan, Fonte, Fox and even Bart are outside chances. Three of our new signings will be internationals too though. -
Anyone but Harry.

Did we get a trophy? Any photos?

I like Clem, but I don't think he should have brought up Sharps' difficult year. Billy is obviously going to be full of emotion about it, it didn't need mentioning. Aside from that, it was a great watch.

Birmingham will be promoted IMO, but I'd like to Blackpool go up as they'll be beatable in the Premiership. I don't care who it is, as long as it's not West Ham :=D

Kelvin: 9. Without a good keeper, you don't achieve anything. Bart: 5. Performed well in the cups, suffered a spazz attack in his one league game, but I was always confident should we have needed him longer term. Butterfield: 6. Didn't play much owing to Frazers' form, but proved to be a competent understudy when called upon. Frazer: 7. A much better season from him this season, providing some key assists to boot. Jose: 7. Not as assured as his League One season, but there are plenty worse CBs in the nPC. Jos: 9. What a signing. Solid defender with an eye for goal. The partnership with Fonte worked well. Fox: 7. A solid season, not brilliant but far from poor. Got some important assists too. Harding: 6. A willing understudy, but League One may have been his level. Martin: 6. Covered the defensive absences well, looked fairly assured and may turn out to be a good defender in the years to come. Guly: 7. Was MOTM in some games and disappeared in others, but still our best option at right midfield. 1st half of season better than 2nd. Useful goals. Chaplow: 7. Before his injury, and during Lallana's absence, he filled in brilliantly, and we did seem to miss him. Not so good on his return. Puncheon: 5. Still a cockle, but at least he apologised. Did very little on his return though. De Ridder: 7. A useful impact sub, and I think he will only get better with a pre-season behind him. Cork: 8. Another astute signing, and deserved his spot in every game this season. Hammond: 6. Solid if unspectacular, and struggled to get ahead of Cork and Morgan. Is this his level? Morgan: 8. Class. I was doubtful of him before this season but he's proved to be quality. Lallana: 8. He's been quality at times, and he makes our team tick and scores goals, but I think he's been inconsistant. Injuries haven't helped. Lee: 7. Looked promising until his injury. Will make the step up from what I've seen. Lambert: 10. Is it possible to score him any lower? What more can I say. Immense. Sharp: 9. Key goals at a crucial time. Connolly: 7. Played his part which is more than I thought he would at the start of the season.

Jealousy, simple as that. What makes me laugh is that after saying they'll "walk the league" this season, having failed to do so, they're now saying they'll "walk the play-offs". Deluded. I for one hope Cardiff or one of the B teams beat them in the play-offs. Maybe another season in the Championship will teach them to respect the division they're in.
