Why are so many people trying to sound american nowadays ??
SNSUN replied to The Majestic Channon's topic in The Lounge
Thanks. On the upside, i'll be skint after the wedding, so if I divorce the dozy mare she can't take me for every penny! (I have saved enough back for the odd trip to SMS though!) -

You beat me to the punch. I get married next year and this is what we're doing. We don't need material things, as we've lived together for four years and have what we need so aren't having a wedding list, but as I'm funding the whole wedding myself due to neither parental unit having any spare cash, we won't be able to afford a honeymoon. I don't earn much but have saved well, but any extra help to get us on a honeymoon would be much appreciated. Thus we're giving people the chance to buy us holiday vouchers. As much as people want to give. We won't kick up a stink if we don't end up in the Maldives, even a weekend in Bognor Regis would be something! We won't look down on friends and family that give us nothing, that's their choice. We're not showy people anyway, I've noticed an upturn in Americanisation of weddings, a "look at me" culture where the bride and gloom choreograph their own first dance. I'd be embarrassed as sin. I watched that Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and it nearly made me sick. -
Sausage and Egg Mcmuffin and five hash browns. I bloody love their hash browns. My record in one sitting was eight. I aim to one day beat it.

I met Michael Poke's uncle the other day. Use this tidbit of useless info as you will.

Pre-season comparisons - Leicester, Middlesbro & P*mpey
SNSUN replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
It's better than last season's pre-season - I was sure we hadn't had enough of a test then. As long as the players are fit and ready to go (you'd think an ex-phsio would be top notch at this), then we will have succeeded with the pre-season preparations. -
We need to carry last season's tail end form into this season, how sweet it would be if we didn't start slowly like every other bloody season. Banging Leeds 6-0 and topping the table after one game would be lovely.

So we need to plan the kidnapping of Mark Chamberlain for a fortnight. You get the net, I'll get the roofies. We need Oxo out until the 1st September, but I still get the feeling he'll see at least half a season more with us. The January window will be interesting though. If we're pushing for promotion at that stage, maybe we can get him to stay, and tie him up with a fat new 5 year contract....

Oi! My missus is a Nor-witch-gian. (actually I agree with you. :-D)

The Chaplow goal. For a few minutes, sat in the company of a Man U fan, I was gloating my effing arse off. For the mk Dons game I'd given up listening at half time, had it on in the background as I did the ironing. With each Forte goal I was keeping my concentration, when Barnard scored I was jumping round the room and nearly scorched my pants.

From what I've seen of both Seaborne and Martin, both are competent enough to do a job in that position, and just because we're in a higher league doesn't mean Jaidi won't see his fair share of action. If it were up to me, I'd keep what we have, see how they get on, and re-evaluate the spot in the January window. If there's a gap that needs plugging, that'd be the time to sort it. That said I do think we'll see a first choice CB come in before the end of August, the No 5 spot has been left vacant for a reason. Don't forget though, that there's still over a month until the window shuts. It may also be that we're waiting to see if anyone matches Oxo's valuation, which will then leave us with a shed load more dosh to invest that we have now. (I still hope Oxo stays though...)

I'm actually guilty of using Australianisms. I very regularly say "No Worries" instead of "Your Welcome" at work when a customer says Thank-you. Lord knows where or how I adopted that, I reckon it's because I am a cockle. -
Someone commented that the stylized aap3 logo looks like it reads "crap". Imagine how much fun the Skates would have if we named it the Crap Stadium.
-
Is aap3 the first name in the abbreviation dictionary?

Lulu Twiggy How about over 60's?

Finishing his career with us then. I wonder if he'll get a coaching role at the end of it...

If they're in financial plop, there's no way they'll be spending £8 million on players. Money from the sales will go towards balancing the books and paying existing wages, and free transfers and loans will replace outgoing players.

QPR make Saints an offer for Puncheon (Player Exchange)
SNSUN replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I wonder if he'd use that terminology though? "Morning Nigel, I want your man Puncheon and I'm willing to give you £500k and Gorkss in exchange." "Who's Gorkss?" "My centre back. Trust me, Aitch Cee Dee A Jay Eff Yoo!" "Bugger off Neil, that's OUR word." -
Time to change that then. I thought we would win our first game last season, but didn't know about the unrest in the camp or the pathetic attempt at a pre-season. This time around, we have a manager that is being backed and who is an ex-physio so knows better than anyone how to get his players into shape, we have just been promoted and are on a high, we have strenghthened an already good squad, and are at home and on Sky to boot. Oh, and Leeds have a striker shortage. For me, and I'm probably wrong, all the signs seem to point to us winning.

Of the relegated sides, I can see only West Ham being close or at the top come the end of the season. Blackpool will re-establish themselves as average Championship fodder with a late play-off push perhaps, but Birmingham will crumble. (Though judging from Pompey's showing last season, may not go down.) Of the promoted sides, we will do the best, a play off push isn't beyond us, Brighton will start well but ultimately struggle, and Peterborough will wave goodbye to the Championship on their way to League One again. Suprise teams of the year to do well? Crystal Palace and Hull. Teams that will underachieve (Perhaps massively) Watford, Burnley and Derby. The auto spots will be fought by Middlesbrough, West Ham and Leicester, the relegation spots could be Portsmouth, Watford and Peterborough. There seems to be a big gulf in class in this league this season, and as long as we attach ourselves to the top teams, we'll do fine - it is my prediction that there will be a massive gap in points between two adjacent mid-table teams come May.
-
Have they got any good players left? They could struggle this season.

Andrew Davis playing as a trialist for palace tonight!

Connolly seems to have battled back well from crippling injuries but I guess no two players are the same. We're past signing crocks anyway, I seem to remember we had a period where that's all we seemed to bring in. -
It is my prediction that we will start the season with a bang. 7 straight wins, winning live on Sky whilst frightening the living shyte out the rest of the Championship, and beating dirty Leeds to boot, would be a fantastic start. Oxo to start badly though, he can find his form in September once the window has closed!

Both. (and if I were playing FM, another two centre backs on top of that!) -
I see nobody picked up on my completely arse Erik Nevland rumour though, and I tried to make it as realistic as possible.
