  1. If we don't go up this season, touch wood, then the reality is the bigger players will up and leave. Fonte, Lambert, Lallana, Punch and Morgan will all want to be in the higher leagues this time next season, and we'll have to start afresh. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it - promotion this season is imperative. The players will know that - they'll want to get promoted with us rather than join someone else, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. As for Lallana, I really hope the management don't sell Lallana before the deadline, or in January, just to get some money for him. He's so influential, losing him at any point this season would be a major loss. Look at Jermaine Beckford at Leeds - they knew his contract was out at the end of the season but they promised they'd keep him with the knowledge that at the end of the season, if they got promoted, they could convince him to sign a new contract. He didn't. I wonder if this will prey on the management's minds with regard to Lallana, although, as has been said, we would get a tribunal fee for him anyway. I still trust in AP, but he really must be sleeping uncomfortably in his bed at night!
  2. I want to see MORE articles ruling us out. I've never been comfortable with Saints being favourites for anything, not even before the JPT final! Level-headedness in the squad is, imo, what will achieve us promotion.
  3. You might be right, think I was 43 in a 30. Though I genuinely don't remember driving that fast. Stupid, 13 mph gets me a fine and points, yet I got arrested for driving drunk one time (I really was a bit tipsy), and got let off after the two breath tests at the station, and told I could go back to my car and drive home. I have the strangest luck.
  4. Our first team is very good, it is our back up that is somewhat lacking. Injuries will happen, we all know it, and without a decent back-up we don't have strength in depth. Unfortunately, enticing players to the club knowing they'll be back ups will prove very difficult, we really relying on loans, or maybe someone on a free that hasn't been snapped up yet that fancies coming along for the ride. As for CM, it really does look weak, I get the feeling AP rates Wotton as a back up which is worrying, but I'm not forgetting that Butterfield has, and can, play in that position. When Richardson comes back from injury, it really does give us another option in that CM role, though, of course, a specialist ball winner in that spot rather than a utility player would make things that little bit more comfortable.
  5. I'm passing up on the chance to see my first 'first game of the season' in order to go on an all day drinking binge. Part of me regrets my decision already, the fact it's on Sky swayed that decision. I'll make it up to SFC through the season, I promise. :-) Looking forward to the season, the transfer activity may not have impressed some, but for me, keeping on to the star players from last season was more important that bringing anyone new in anyway. So far we've managed to do that, I hope Cortese sticks a rifle up the nose of anyone inquiring. I'm a little apprehensive about our season, we all expect success, getting promotion with flair, but as long as we do get promoted, I don't care if we grind out ugly 1-0 wins every game. The key is being in the nPC in August 2011, no matter how we achieve it. Speaking of ugly 1-0 wins, that's my prediction now for Saturday. It'll be a tough game, no doubt, and with a few of our players out, it may be tougher than we think. But, it will be a good test of our character too, an unbeaten home record this season would really give us a fantastic chance of making the top two. I hope and pray SMS is our fortress this season.
  6. Having not been born, raised or lived in Southampton, I dread to think how I'd have followed my team before these came about, aside from the many family holidays in Hampshire and the good old MOTD and 5Live. Debate keeps things interesting IMO, whether you agree with the point or not. I HAVE to look on here every day, even if very little is happening, I'd feel lost without SWF and the few crazy posts we see on it.
  7. I like the sound of the 24 hour free trail. anyone know what it is we're looking for? think I might buy an i-pad and take it to the ground to read the programme. that'll save me 3 quid!
  8. Matt Le Tissier - every club would've loved to have him. :-) Silvia Saint - Czech porn actress and a bit of a player - same reason as MLT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silvia_Saint Burridge got around a bit, but I think EVERY league club would be stretching it...
  9. Generally these threads result in someone getting really bored, giving up on the original question and posting another, which results in most people forgetting the original question. I'm on the edge of my seat.

    Tetchiness?

I see the good in everyone, until they show me otherwise. Then I call them a **** and run away.

    Anthony Poo-less perhaps...groan...
  13. Still time to bring a player or two in but I admit the injuries are worrying.
  14. If it happens, it will be the most amazing fake prediction ever. Although, having mentioned it on here, Cortese has already read this and decided to pull the plug on the deal. My bad.
  15. I have it on good authority (my brain told me so), that there will be an official handing over ceremony at half time of Michail Antonio. He plays the first half for Reading and the second half for Saints. I am nITK.
  16. We will play a patient passing style. This will result in a few 0-0 scorelines with five minutes left on the clock, at which point we resort to lumping it to Lambert. Or we will just rip teams to shreds with our creativity. I like the sound of the latter.
  17. Frimpong? Sounds like a problem I'm faced with after a bad curry, only with an 'f' in front.
  18. Friday - Work Saturday - Work Sunday - Work. I'm glad these weekend threads have resurfaced again - gives me a reason to copy and paste once again.
  19. When I moved in with my missus, I offered to pay all the rent if she did everything else. I now have one bill to pay, she pays for: furniture, council tax, utilities, shopping (excluding alcohol but including my stuff like razor blades and shampoo) renting the garage out the back, lovefilm, mobile broadband and I make her pay for petrol if she wants to go anywhere. I think I may have got the good end of the deal there. Furniture-wise, we bought a fair amount of stuff from Ikea but we did sponge a lot of the rest of the stuff from our parents. Incidentally, am I the first to destroy a brand new bookcase because I suck at flat pack?
  20. Jermaine Defoe from West Ham, Darren Bent and Matt Richards from Ipswich. Kris Commons every transfer window for about 3 years.
  21. Right. I've had my desire for three week now and it's great. Battery life is average but it's my own fault for not charging it up properly when I got it.
