Interesting thread with the benefit of hindsight. I think he was a decent player and I hope he does really well here, lovely comments on him from Klopp. Would take on loan all day but ultimately this is a perm deal and at 18-20 million, is another HUGE gamble given injuries and lack of football. Boarderline mental actually. Let's hope and prey this one pays off otherwise we are ****ed.
-
Loan with view to perm. would be a good move IMO. Loan with obligation to buy however would be a desperate gamble. Which is it? Decent hungry player but huge risk if the latter due to the injuries.

Lol, thanks for the updates Pilchards!

Saints vs Borussia Mönchengladbach - Match Thread
doggface replied to wessex saint's topic in The Saints
Another poor 1st half. Let’s hope we show up 2nd half like we did midweek. They should have scored 3 goals that half. Gabby decent for us but should have buried his chance. back 3 look terrible -
Only pre-season but **** me that was a bad 1st half from a poor looking starting 11. In reality Bednarek rinsed for both goals, back 3 looking an accident waiting to happen. Davis & Romeu look like a championship pairing. Awful from Long & McCarthy for the 2nd. Armstrong looked bright and direct but a little rusty. Bertrand decent only positives. Celta looking decent but I understand a week behind us in preperations! Sisto looks a player.
-
lost the stream but very rusty so far. Bertrand biggest threat as usual. McQueen on the wrong side looks very uncomfortable. Davis & Romeu passengers. back 3 panicky and one-paced. Sisto looks good.

LeG why would adidas pay a portion of any saints players salary?
-
Aspas has done really well there but now 30 y.o

Tammy Abraham anyone? Fits our profile, some great attributes. Great in Brizzle, started well at Swans then faded badly in a **** team. Worth a perm punt I would suggest at a relatively modest price. Will surely not get a look in at Chelski.

Falque certainly had a couple of decent seasons it seems but not a very saints signing at 28.

Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official

This is his chance and will be interesting to see if Hughes fancies him. Looks like he has been impressed in the games from his reactions on the bench. -

Took his goal today really well & has impressed with limited minutes in the 2 games. Do or die for him at sfc this year and I for one hope he gets a chance. He has many of the attributes required to be a top striker. Height & speed are a particularly rare combo at this level. I wonder if Hughes can coach him into a real player for us? -

They just leaked Charlie Austin in the home kit on the o/s for pre order. Now gone. It is as expected what we have already seen.

Sportsnet world if you have it

Sam McQueen is in the training gallery as is Long so assume available. Given our wide options have been awful this season, surprised McQueen has not been given much opportunity.
-
Can we substitute 11 players? That just sums up the spineless disgusting cretins we have at our club. **** them all off and start again, relegation is painful but necessary. Make west ham reserves look like ****ing Brazil

If we stick with the 4-4-2 I would play him alongside Shane Long. Get Long to do all his running and to give Austin space to focus on finishing. If we go back to 4-2-3-1, start with Austin limit defensive involvement and bring him off when he run's out of puff.
