  1. You'll forgive me if I don't get overexcited just yet. At my age you have learnt to wait and see what happens.
  2. Some clubs spend that one one player... The world's gone mad, I tell you.
  3. It all depends on your type of work and where you will be doing it. We're not city types ourselves having moved away from London 40 years ago. My advice would be to look for transport links and how you will commute. After that it all depends on how much you want to spend.
  4. If you go along the coast road at Lee on Solent watch out for the speed camera near the hovercraft slipway where the road dips. There is also one near Fareham creek about 200 yds after you go under the railway viaduct (A32?).
  5. No, the Receiver of Wrecks has to be notified (and contrary to popular belief that is not Southampton Football Club). Having said that, most looters were allowed to keep their loot. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2007/October/october23-30/oct2607salvergersallowedtokeepbmws/
  6. Of course, not all instances of looting occur in inner-city deprived areas. Remember the MSC Napoli in Dorset? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/pop_ups/07/uk_msc_napoli/html/6.stm
  7. Did I mention Jason EWEll?
  8. Hi Eric, you must be bored. Ted Drake Now I'm stuck.....
  9. It didn't happen when I, or my mother, or my grandmother were young.
  10. That much is true. You only have to read this forum.
  11. But then we can all tell that you are obviously not being serious.
  12. Well, they are supposed to demonstate 'balance'. Why, I bet the even staged some riots with white kids, just to even things up. (winky tongue-in cheek thingy)
  13. Tsk! That's the BBC for you.
  14. The problem is that they weren't.
  15. It does happen, apparently: http://www.cpfc.org/forums/archive/index.php/t-220246.html I think some (Arsenal, Tottenham? )include a certain number of games, Man Utd will charge you for the game whether or not you actually go to it, I saw one reference to the effect that Arsenal include Champion's League games in their ticket price (not that they always qualify for it). I know that the FA Cup regulations about sharingthe gate money take into account the situation where a cup game has been included in the cost of a season ticket. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Season-ticket-price-outrage-Premier-League-fans-in-revolt-over-massive-hikes-article738885.html
  16. Hello again Eric, nice to see the pedants are up early (early for me that is). You are quite correct to point out that I should have said 'I didn't miss going'. (I'm not sure whether or not I hate imprecision).
  17. Ah, but that only works if our players are quicker than theirs. I hate to see everybody pulled back to defend a corner. I think it's better to create a space in the goal area so that the keeper can come and claim the ball. Of course, that only works if you trust your keeper to do so. Is it just a coincidence that Bart was playing last night?
  18. For the first time that I can remember I chose not to go to a midweek evening game, and surprisingly I didn't miss it. The high ticket price, removal of concession and having to sit in the wings all combined to put me off going.
  19. I agree. It should be brought out on every possible occasion. At this rate I shall never see it myself.
  20. Let me put it this way: If we had over 12£m to spend, would we splash it all on one wonder kid who could break his leg tomorrow? Take the money, stick some in your back pocket for a rainy day and buy two or three players of proven quality at this level. Then tell any prospective buyers of the club what a wonderful youth factory we have here at Southampton.
  21. Wrong in that his kicking was not wayward on Saturday, or that Saturday was an exception in a long and distinguished career of pinpoint kicks to all corners of the field of play? (I was wrong once but it won't happen again)
  22. I beg to differ. He has far more 'off' days than 'on'. I'm confident that our Nigel will have noticed and will plan to deal with it.
  23. Is that £10k each or for two? (Or £9k for me and £1k for the missus?)
  24. Indeed it was, but to be honest I didn't realise until I saw all the replica shirts after the game.
  25. Bothered? I aint bothered.
