Italian women been taking lessons from the men's team in the dark arts, it seems. Going over at every slight bit of contact and the ref is falling for it every single time.

England started well but didn't maintain the intensity and Italy grew into it. Unfortunate deflection off Bronze for the Italy goal. They have created very little other than that. Thought James should have done better with her chance to equalise.

The fact that basic competence appears to be an unreasonable expectation from any kind of customer service organisation these days.

There's a certain chap from the Channel Islands who would strongly disagree with that statement. This is one of the things that I actually like most about women's football. The PL is now such that pace and power trumps everything, as we found out in a big way last season. Being technically good on the ball just isn't enough anymore, and players in the mould of MLT (and even David Beckham) would never make it in this day and age because they just wouldn't get the time on the ball they need to play their natural game. And that's a shame IMO, because it detracts from 'the beautiful game'. In women's football though, that's not such an issue because they simply can't replicate that pace and power. So there's more time and space for technically gifted players to shine. The standard of technical ability in the women's game has improved massively over the last 5-10 years, and with so many more girls coming through at grass roots level now and much greater investment in youth level coaching, it's only going to get better (as you yourself acknowledge above). So yeah, let's enjoy it for what it is and stop comparing.

Having never watched one before, I couldn't say for certain. But despite the number of poor ones, there were some good ones as well. Kelly and Bronze for England both took theirs really well, and the Sweden one that was right in the top corner and hit the camera would have beaten most male keepers.

Superb performance from England so far this evening. They're a joy to watch when playing like this. I know Wales are a poor side but some of England's attacking play has been outstanding, and it could/should be more than 4-0.

That's just the expected etiquette though, same as a snooker player fluking a pot. To not do it is seen as disrespectful to your opponent.

The utterly inane and pointless things that get the slow motion replay treatment in the Wimbledon coverage.

I was doing some temp work for Southern Water in the mid 90s and I read Roger Waters' water meter. He wasn't in though. -
That was my first 12". Well, it was either that or I Think We're Alone Now by Tiffany. But let's go with A-HA shall we, because it's infinitely less embarrassing. (Cue @trousers taking the time to look up their respective release dates and showing me up!)

https://share.google/eZKYeQebLZmbh5jGg Voice recording suggests confusion. One pilot is heard asking why the other cut off the fuel switches, but he says he didn't. They managed to get one engine restarted but it was too late. I would certainly hope that it's extremely difficult, if not impossible, for a pilot to cut off the fuel by mistake. So that leaves only two other possibilities - they were either switched deliberately, or there was a serious malfunction in the failsafe system and they tripped automatically (which, again, you would hope would be impossible).

Oh no. After all the recent horse references, I'm really not feline up to any more bad animal puns. Can we paws it now please?

Probably because more often than not it was him that had fucked up when we conceded, and he probably felt a bit embarrassed at the idea of giving himself a bollocking in front of 30,000 people.

In the same way we had that hardcore bunch of Japanese fans when Yoshida was playing for us you mean?

Not seen this mentioned anywhere else yet... Southampton FC seal signing of young Sheffield Wednesday midfielder | Daily Echo https://share.google/qrFKRapLwR2Ez9XY7 Very highly rated young MF joining the U21s. Wednesday fan I know was gutted to see him leave - thought he was gonna be a big player for them. Let's just hope this one doesn't go the same way as Thierry Small did.
