  1. I could have written this I agree with it to the letter.
  2. I love it. Lose playing anything other than a standard 4-4-2 and it has to be the formation, even if that is the formation that we played whilst winning the previous game.
  3. No chance mate, you are forgetting that they have Gary 'Ronaldo' Jones on their side.
  4. Man marking to this extent is rarely used because it pulls the teams shape around all over the place. Personally I would say if our players cannot handle Rochdale's Jones in a normal system then we have issues. Confident our midfield/defence can deal with him.
  5. To be fair, at the time I think the competition meant a hell of a lot more to us than it did to them.
  6. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13043196.stm Now I know he's a nutter anyway, but looking on their forums, Nott's County fans seem very split on the appointment of Allen. Largely because in this interview he passes up the opportunity to pander to the fans in the usual cliched football way, which I find quite refreshing and interesting... In reponse to the Journo's "Why did you really want to go to Notts?" question, instead of rolling out the answers about an ambitious club big move blah blah he basically just says 'I didn't really want to go particularly but I needed a job and a contract.' Personally I think I would find football interviews much more interesting if players and managers felt they could be a bit more honest rather than just saying what they think they're meant to. I guess Strachan was the last manager we had who really did this, but even then it was generally shrouded in humour rather than blunt honesty. Does anybody else wish interviews were more like this or do you think he's just setting himself up for a fall there and should fall in line with the usual way of doing these interviews Robbie Keane style (I've always had a soft spot for this club blah blah)?
  7. A friend said to me Saturday that we needed to find somebody as good as Jaidi in the air but with pace as well. I pointed out that those players are Premiership players. The guy is unstoppable in the air.
  8. I suppose it depends whether you think the solution to a player not reaching their potential is to coach them out of it, or to just buy another player. Chaplow clearly has the talent for the Championship when performing at his best, so it must be a concentration/confidence issue. I would like to think Adkins can find a way to get the best out of him.
  9. I really can't make my mind up about Hammond. I think a back to back promotions often rely as much on momentum and team spirit as on extra signings so in some ways I hope we don't go too crazy and just build subtly on what we have again.
  10. That's strange because looking through your post history I see a number of threads you've started relating to crimes commited by Muslims, but you don't seem to have ever started one about Christians. Interesting given that all you are trying to do is bring issues out into the open without any prejudice whatsoever.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-east-wales-12965227 "Mold Crown Court heard they read Bible chapters to justify their actions" Church going couple who abused their own children. Interesting story and interesting the way they hide behind their religion when justifying their actions. They are not doing Christians any favours in my opinion.
  12. You are doing yourself and all people who might be in someway similar to you no favours by raising this pointless story.
  13. I think there are a lot of older people driving who are not really fit to do so. I know an old distant relative of mine was still driving around Romsey even when he could barely walk any more and his eyesight was definitely questionable. That said, there are plenty of dodgy drivers in every age group. I would not be against the idea of some sort of retest for everybody every 10-15 years but I imaine it would be a nightmare to police. I would also encourage and empower Police to pull over and issue fines to anybody they see changing lanes or taking a roundabout without indicating.
  14. The thing Adkins has done well is show he has no favourites, and anybody can force their way in if they take their chances when they come. Barnard has done this winning his place back from Guly.
  15. Actually all the Chelsea fans I know are worried about what would happen if abramovich lost interest.
  16. Just sorting group train ticket for plymouth... It's asking me if we're getting the 1800 or 1851 back, do you HAVE to get the one you put down or does it not really matter?
  17. I don't recall a centre back who wins such a high proportion of headers, his judgement when the ball's in the air is second to none. I love the ones he wins without even getting off the ground, but simply by judging it better than the opposing player.
  18. Did they play it after the goals last night? If so, I again failed to notice it. I did notice the final whistle music, which was annoying as per usual as we were trying to chant against it.
  19. If we did stick with the sash I reckon it should be with red shorts and socks so other teams can't come to St Mary's and play in red.
  20. I think you have to say he had a good game, as he scored and got an assist. That said, his defensive frailties were concerning, when the man he was marking passed and moved he rarely went with him quickly enough. If Adkins can get him to concentrate he will be very very good at RM until oxo returns.
  21. I find it amusing and slightly disconcerting that I was at both Shef Weds and MK Dons games and I never noticed the goal music at all.
  22. The bloke behind me yesterday was funny, I'm sure he would've annoyed some on here. He was one of those that literally shouts instruction to the players through the game "yes, pass it, look out wide, good ball Danny, now deliver, no don't shoot, oh no" etc etc. It was tyro league type shouting. The guys next to me were getting annoyed with him I think, but I am quite happy to put up with it. Ultimately the bloke was a passionate, enthusiastic, vocal fan, perhaps after a couple too many lagers but it just showed how much it mattered to him. I would rather stand shoulder to shoulder with him than somebody who sits on their hands all game every game.
  23. I think some people are being pretty harsh on Dan Harding. Sure sone of his crossing wasn't great, but his energy was terrific and he kept providing an outlet in a very compact game. For a full back to keep getting up and down like that takes a lot of stamina and even when the crosses weren't coming off he kept on trying rather than disappearing into his shell. And who is that busting a gut to overlap for our second goal? Oh, it's Dan Harding.
  24. Has it? What did they play?
