  1. Best England Debut ever?
  2. Has there ever been a quicker goal on debut? Very first touch as an England player too! That's the stuff dreams are made of
  3. Obviously by the reaction, you'd all prefer that threads like Minsk's aren't closed. Us Mods will have a chat and try and make sure that the discussions that people want to have in future aren't shut down.
  4. As I see it, the HCDAJFU thread is useful for the dozens of different players that people would like to see us linked to mentioned each transfer window. I usually leave individual threads there if there's a half decent source backing up that we're showing an interest.
  5. We do have guidelines, but no matter how strict they are, you'd still have people personal opinions interpreting them, not to mention the more strict they are, the more likely you are to come up against something they don't cover. With regards to trolling, one person's troll is another's genuine opinion. It's impossible to draw the line on that one. That aspect tends to improve during the season when you have more posters and a wider range of opinions.
  6. Time Commanders! That show was the reason I started playing Rome Total War
  7. The HCDAJFU thread is generally expected to go off topic a bit and is given more leeway as a result, especially as there are a large number of posts in there and it would be unfeasible to expect us to check every single one. The particular post you mention, the half of it that wasn't on topic wasn't particularly diplomatic, and was likely to derail the thread, as it was close to the start of it. I personally probably wouldn't have closed the thread about other teams' transfers, but I might have moved it to the general sports section.
  8. By 'it' I mean this thread in particular, which is just discussing what should/shouldn't be closed or moved on this forum.
  9. I moved it. It seems you want to talk about this, but it's not Saints related, so I moved it here so the discussion can continue without clogging up the main board. I'm also leaving the other thread there for now as people seem to want it left there, that was started about deadline day stuff, and clearing the non Saints stuff out of it.
  10. Looks like a hoax.
  11. You lot are all to blame for this! Dammit >_
  12. I reckon part of the difference in opinion is coming from the different styles of play employed. Our players are probably better suited to a Saints style midfield, and the Man Utd players are more suited to the Man Utd style midfield.
  13. Wanyama is arguable, but reading other forums, there are a lot of Man Utd fans surprised they didn't get him ahead of us, and would have liked to have seen him in their team. Just have to wait and see on him.
  14. That was meant in the same context as what I had just said about it being their weakest area. Reading it back now I see that doesn't come across clearly, to say the least!
  15. Fair enough, I apologize for that comment. Although it doesn't excuse it, I haven't had a good day.
  16. I didn't say they were weak, I said it was their weakest area. It's still a strong midfield objectively, but it isn't as strong as ours.
  17. My response is nothing to do with me being a mod in this case. As for not being negative... You're asserting that one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe couldn't ever reach the heights of a Man Utd player purely on the basis of him playing for us. I'm just genuinely trying to understand how you can constantly be so negative towards the team you support.
  18. But that wasn't the original question was it? Truth is, 10 is a horrible sample size. Truth is, Morgan has had VERY good press over this last year, and people probably do rate him above Carrick (Oh, look I can answer my own questions before you get the chance to too). Central Midfield is undoubtedly our strongest position, and currently corresponds to Man Utd's weakest position. Talking to my Man Utd. supporting mates, yes, they would swap their central midfield for ours. No, that doesn't mean I, or they, come even remotely close to rating Saints above Man Utd. All it means is that we currently have a few strong players in a position that Man Utd are weak in that they would probably like to buy if they had the chance. What is it with you? It's like you can't bear to see any sort of positive light ever thrown on Saints. I don't think I've ever seen you just be happy about something Saints related. Each and every time you try and twist it round to be negative. Did people laugh at you in school for supporting us or something?
  19. Aye, and Scholes was the first 'new' midfielder they'd (re)signed in years! They have us beat in other areas, but that said, I'd be surprised if we don't take at least a point off of them this season.
  20. Can't see Rooney, Defoe or Welbeck being allowed to play 90 minutes three days before the start of the season, especially with the fitness of two of those in question.
  21. Southampton FC ‏@SouthamptonFC Read more about our new partnership with @EASPORTSFIFA that will see Maya Yoshida on the #FIFA14 cover Oh wait...
  22. Fair to say Saints' profile has been raised a bit the last couple of days!
  23. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/10600568.Shaw_gets_England_under_21s_nod/
  24. As a side note, Shaw has been called up to the England U21s as well.
