Saints 3 West Ham 2 - Match & Reactions
Kingsbridge Saint replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Great to score some goals and get a win and an entertaining game after the turgid Puel regime. A few things to sort out though: 1. Why the **** is Tadic still on penalties? Really lucky to score - soft down the middle rubbish again. 2. Still so many attacks breaking down at the feet of Tadic. 3. Redmond is **** weak on the ball. Gets bullied off it repeatedly every week. Needs to spend some time in the gym. 4. I sort of get the 5 in the middle thing so we have to play 1 up top alone. But when the opposition lose a midfielder why did we stay with 5 in the middle and leave Gabbi isolated? We handed them back the initiative and nearly paid for it. 5. For a professional footballer, Cedrics shooting is abysmal. -
If he hasn't been training I don't want him back in the first team until mid September at the earliest. Stephens and Yoshi are doing fine at the moment. Stephens in particular looks the business right now.
-
He might make an appearance Saturday and score. The goal would be greeted like he was the Messiah. Are we really in a position to ship out proven International Goalscorers?
-
Forster Cedric, Yoshida, Stephens, Bertrand Romeu, Lemina Boufal, Davis, Redmond Gabbiadini Far too many of our attacks break down with Tadic. Even the penalties.

Just to be clear - it's GAO. Pronounced as in 'Now'

Not expecting to see much change in the short term. The money will be going to Kat, not for player investment. The diversification of the capital base is a good thing, and new skills doubtless being brought in at Board level, which is also a good thing. Yuning Zhao recently went to West Brom so we are now also a clear route into the EPL for the best Chinese players, which is also a good thing. That's my takeaways anyway.

Time to stay calm. That was a different sort of 0-0 to a Puel 0-0. We were far more progressive on the ball. We need more from Tadic - good player, great touch and pacy, but far too many of our attacks break down with him through slowing things down, an off target or blocked shot or a mis-placed pass. Or a penalty. He should be doing better with his end product.
-
So in the end his stubbornness cost him his job. Idiot.
-
Need to watch out for Carroll. He is a dangerous player. Edgy 2-1 to us. Late winner.
-
Needs to be sidelined and kept away from the first team for 6 weeks or so. Then if he is contrite enough we might be able to ease him back in. Time is a great healer. We don't need the disruption right now and with Stephens looking the real deal there is no urgency. His agent needs a kick up the ******** as well once this is all over. 1 year into a 6 year contract - what a pillock.

I am definitely watching Poldark later. -
Two goals. We are back. Didn't seem to be much recycling the ball backwards once we were going forwards either. Glad that doesn't appear to be Plan A anymore.

I won't be engaging with Womens football any time soon, but respect their right to play it, and the BBC's right to show it. Good luck with it. Let me know how it goes.

7th - 10th and more bravery on the ball. Better entertainment.

Friendlies suck balls. Almost totally meaningless results-wise. Top half this season, no worries.
-
If he's going to Chelsea, and after the Neymar deal, it has to be $100M minimum.
-
Austin 9, Gabbi 10 4-4-2 It's not hard.
-
It amazes me how the media say a player prefers London to Southampton for lifestyle reasons. Then completely disregard this line of thought when linking players with the stinking cess pit that is Merseyside.

Forster Cedric VvD Stephens Bertrand Tadic Romeu Davis Redmond Gabbiadini Austin

I think it's even money that one of those seven will under-perform next season. Put it this way would you think evens was a good bet for naming that as a top 7 in any order? Spurs are away from WHL, Arsenal on the crest of a slump. Pep could rotate himself into mid table, it might not be Liverpools year. Everton could implode spectacularly. Every season the bookies think these sides are nailed on. I am not so sure they will ALL succeed again. We just need to get back to scoring goals and playing a progressive game. If we do that, we won't be far away.

Martin Samuels is a West Ham fan and 'the Southampton Way' has clearly got up his nose. This part of the article might be a clue about why he writes so much vindictive bile about us: 'From summer 2010 to the end of 2016/17, Southampton had a net spend of £18.6 million, according to transfermarkt; West Ham, who finished below Southampton for the past four seasons, had a net spend of £135 million in this time'.

Have a read of this - it's an awesome independent appraisal of our clubs approach to the game. It's a long read and might challenge some who prefer the knee jerk to investing time to develop a deeper understanding, but it made me proud of the club and it's pioneering approach. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2717975-inside-the-southampton-black-box-informing-their-manager-carousel

Adkins for me. And before you flame me, I want constructive arguments against. Not just 'you're a ****ing idiot'

Nice bloke, nice sentiments, but in the end the statement doesn't reveal much. Cautious press release.
