Puel seems to be taking the second chance he won by that Wembley performance. The result AND an attacking performance. Finally we are getting somewhere. Would rather win 4-3 than 1-0 any day of the week. Defence needs some work, but Fraser Forster looks shot to pieces. 4 shots to save, missed 3. Would have had 3 shots to save conceding 2 but for the fact he doesn't boss his 6 yard area either.
-
i think he should have saved the first one, second one more forgivable, third one, should have been off his line with his fist in Zlatans face. No way keepers concede penalties in that scenario.

Saints V Man United - Post Match Reactions

I am going to be the first to question why Steve Davis wasn't in the refs face on the disallowed goal asking him to speak to the Lino? it might have done the trick. Given the two thicko twins time to reconsider the move and come up with the right decision. Seen it happen before. You can bet United would have been all around the ref had it been the other end. -

3-3. United go through to Europe on the Big Clubs rule. Proud of Saints today. Why do officials favour the big clubs though - that Lino is a professional so should know the flag only goes up if he is certain it's offside. Benefit of any doubt to the attacker. Unless it's a goal against a big club, when the benefit of any doubt goes to the big club. We all know it. No way that gets chalked off if it's Ibra. -
World Cup is dead to me until after 2022. Thanks Sepp you corrupt old git. You have taken the game backwards.

We were dross in Europe. Again. Completely embarrassed ourselves not getting out of that group. Proven by the thrashings of Hapoel and Sparta today. Have no idea what Puel's brief was on the Europa League and still have no idea who carries the can for it, but as a fan I was, and still am, mightily annoyed by the pathetic displays and early elimination. For us, European qualification is a big deal and we really should have had a proper go. Swansea and Fulham both put us to shame.

Gabbiadini seems to be having a bit of an impact. Nice win, though didn't get to see it all as it as wasn't available in Oz unless you watched it live. And staying up to watch Saints live has been pretty much impossible with the Mogadon that's been served up for most of the season. watched a three minute highlights package and pleased we got the job done. Let's qualify for Europe by winning the cup, and give Puel a shot at redemption. And that's all we will remember this season for then. -
Would you rather see Gabbiadini nurtured into Saints, coached and inspired by Puel and Black or Nigel Adkins? There's really no contest is there? The current manager is to blame for the car crash this season has become, entirely responsible. If he can't influence and persuade the Board that the team needs strengthening, he's not the right man for the job. If he can't produce a winning team when he thinks he has all the players he needs, he's not the right man for the job. If he can't entertain the fans with his style of football he's not the right man for the job. He's not the right man for the job. Puel out.

The way Puel sets us up to play defensively and not get support forward is because he is absolutely terrified of the counter attack. The fact we were undone by a counter attack today ANYWAY tells us everything you need to know. His whole footballing philosophy is terminally flawed. It's also very very boring and he deserves all the flak he gets. Wish he would depart.

Saints 0 Arsenal 5 Post match hilarity

Puel should have been more balanced in the rotation. Resting players who might have got a strain or a pull after midweek - no resting any players otherwise not at risk before Swansea though, that game is less important. And Forster should have played. Crazy resting a keeper. Sadly Claude can't help himself. If he can rotate he will, like a lapsing alcoholic. The scale of that defeat damaged the confidence of our squad players and the goodwill of the fans far more than the benefit of resting a few extra for Swansea and letting Forster have a lie in and a beer in front of Jeff Stelling. Very annoyed with Puel - again. -
Brilliant start to Australia Day over here and well worth the 4 hour sleep and early alarm call this morning. Not been at all happy with Puel's rotation this season, which cost us our place in Europe, but that performance shows he has the team with him, which is great for Saints. Now he has got us to a major final, this season will go down as a good one, despite the European debacle. Fantastic effort lads. And fair play to the posters on this thread - I read every page and only found one sanctimonious post *****ing at other fans about their Puel misgivings. Onwards together from here.

That was Lovren sliding under him to try to drop him on his head. ****.

Liverpool Away Build Up - SEMI FINAL
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Huge game. We need to try to score and make them score three. Not too hopeful but you never know. -
Braver performance today, hope the rotation reduces and we maintain the positive play. One small step on a long road to redemption for Puel. Wednesday night could be season defining. Huge game. NO ROTATION.
-
Play the same team that beat Norwich. Get some consistency and confidence going. Never going to happen is it? The rotation lunacy will continue. Southampton nil. Christ it's a desperate negative way to approach a game of football. I have a lot in common with Puel. Sooner he buggers off the better. Poisonous.
-
And with Fonte departs the last of the great class of 2012. What a shame. Club is going backwards under Puel. Everywhere you look is failure, failure that has actually happened, and failures that are extremely likely to happen soon. Enough is enough.
-
Start the first team. Get a two goal lead, take some off. Stop rotating the starting 11 ffs.
-
I think we are relying on generating consistent transfer profits to sustain wages that allow us to compete at the level we have been recently. That's all starting to fall over as we now have a manager who can't produce results or improve players.
-
100% this. We need to start finding some consistency. Rotation is to blame for most of the car crash this season has become. Puel has to stop the rotation nonsense or ship out.
-
Players improve when they get consistent game time. Romeu and Yoshi have been playing more regularly, and in Yoshi's case, consistently recently. This is why rotation doesn't work.
-
Puel is a strong believer in rotation. I don't think it works. The results seem to be confirming my point of view. Puel out.
-
Is Boufal likely to be available for the second leg? He is the sort of surprise package that could nick an away goal. Then Liverpool need to score three over the two hours...

Liverpool EFL Cup Semi First Leg Buildup
Kingsbridge Saint replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Hope we have a go. Pretty certain we won't. Will try to control the game with lots of sideways and backwards, which won't work. No-one will take a risk going forward. Template. -
I don't think Schneiderlin will have much of an impact at Everton. They have overpaid because everyone knows they have money to burn.

Anyone coming out of the England set up has to be viewed as damaged goods.
