  1. Are they introducing a new comedy ball at the Euros as well like they do at World Cups? Of course - that's what these major tournaments are all about, getting the best teams together and getting them to play with a new ball as an experiment for the major sports corporates. Shirts and balls - it's all about money these days. Sick of it. Sick of England at major tournaments too. Won't be buying this monstrosity.
  2. Losing your international spot and seeing your career go into reverse is often a price you pay for leaving a good progressive nurturing club to get splinters on your butt keeping the bench warm at a glory club. Took a gamble, didn't work out.
  3. Up the Ironsides! *Strolling down the virtual Cromwell Road with a big smile on my face!
  4. Penalty 9 times out of 10, but it was Mason. Never a red card, but it was Mason, where did the 7 minutes of added time come from? Mason. Great effort to hang on in the circumstances. And what was Tadic doing taking a touch to control the ball, when a simple sidefoot would have put it in the net? Needs to have a word with himself - shocking miss, terrible. Good to see Pelle getting a couple. Hopefully the confidence and game time will see him drag his game back up to where it needs to be before Euro 2016.
  5. Adrian Heath Paul Davis The full Billy Davis Derby team Honourable mention to Milford. 8 minutes of stoppage time, with no stoppages or injuries in the regular 90. Unheard of before or since.
  6. We need to win this one to get the wagon rolling again. We can make Europe this season again. Lose this one and it's all over. I think we are playing very badly right now and Stoke are strong at home. So on the basis that we are starting with very low expectations, Saints to win 2-0, just because that's what we do.
  7. We just can't afford to take a risk with a player like Ramirez because we are scoring enough goals already and look dangerous and creative every time we walk out on the field. Having a creative option on the bench is pointless when you are committed to grinding out another possession based performance and occasionally lumping the ball forty yards to a static Italian striker lacking confidence.
  8. I would have either Borini or Defoe over Pelle every day of the week. And they can't get in Sunderlands team every week. We need to sack him off at the end of the season. He has become one dimensional and static and needs to move on.
  9. Pretty awful until the last 5 minutes - why? Yoshida a bit unlucky to be caught napping straight after he came on, hard to get up to speed that quick. Was his mistake any worse than several of Pelle's lame shots, Tadic letting the ball go under his foot and out for a throw in when clear, or Mane repeatedly having the first touch of a camel (or falling over). Front three were shocking, absolutely appalling.
  10. The way things are going if we can win three on the spin then we could be eyeing 4th and a Champions League spot, leave alone Europa. I really hope the players grasp that and win Saturday. Season far from over.
  11. We don't create because hardly anyone takes their man on anymore. It's not just us either. Hardly any attempts to turn the defence by someone hitting the by-line. And on the rare occasions they do, it often gets recycled back out and around again. It's all about ball retention and working it into the right 'Zone' (Zone 14, I believe), The UEFA Coaching Badge has a lot to answer for, so do OPTA stats. Sadly we have a Manager who seems to buy all that sterile crap and we have a team that struggles to create chances, or excitement.
  12. When he was good he arguably had several touches in the same game which were awful. Sadly the high spots in his performances seem to have disappeared and we are just left with - well nothing really. He's not even making runs and falling over anymore.
  13. I was disappointed when Poch left and thought he was making a big mistake. I thought like all of his predecessors he would have Spurs ambling around in the lower top half for a while and then Levy would fire him early in the current season. However, Poch has proved me wrong and has definitely delivered for Spurs. Even if they don't win the Prem (and I think they will) they will qualify for the Champions League and have the best chance in years of finishing above Arsenal. So fair play to him, and if Leicester can't win it, then I am happy for it to be Spurs.
  14. Met one in Devon in the early eighties. Went for a bit of banter only to be told that I wasn't a 'proper' Saints fan as they wouldn't banter with Pompey fans and that I'd better shut up or there would be a bit of bother. Coloured my view of those muppets ever since. They're just not normal.
  15. He can't be allowed to come back in and be a key part of a side qualifying for Europe, because as someone correctly stated above, his agent needs the commission, Wanyama is easily led, and we don't want a repeat of last year. Back up for Romeu/Clasie for the rest of the season, then sell quickly.
  16. Trusting the French and Germans hasn't turned out too well in the past - early 1800's for the former, early 1900's for the latter. It's all different this time around though. Of course it is.
  17. This is exactly how I feel. Watching This is England and remembering how passionate I was about England back then makes me sad. That support has all been ****ed up the wall over the past few major tournaments. Not just because of the consistent dismal failure, but for all the reasons listed above. Finding success with the same worn out hackneyed approach would be a travesty.
  18. Sports Pages June 19th 2016: So England need to beat Slovakia and hope that in the other game..........
  19. Everything is for sale at the right price. She would be crazy not to be marketing it if only to be clear on her options.
  20. Nothing against Morgan personally but I really hope it goes totally pear shaped for him as spectacularly as possible and he misses out on the Euros from not playing regularly. It would be ironic, as his departure was one that was more amicably and professionally handled by all concerned, but such an enormous fall from grace would serve as a dire warning to the likes of Wanyama and all the other Prima Donnas who see their career progression at a 'Bigger' club than Saints, use us as a stepping stone then destabilise us each summer.
  21. Rates and Water Rates were pretty much in **** Turpin territory when I left. But the biggest drivers were the weather and (at the time) Gordon Brown. I also listed speed cameras, Chavs and bad tv but Australia trumps the last 3 in spades, so it's all relative. So I'm just going to go with Portsmouth.
  22. Something needs to be done. It's become the reserve team competition the League Cup became. I have totally lost interest in both.
  23. Will be a tough game, would take a point. I think we will finish above them. Chelsea and Liverpool both won massively at the weekend but nobody has taken any notice - both clubs are an irrelevance now this season. And it's far easier to put in a performance like that when it doesn't matter anymore. Neither side can handle it when the pressure is on - both far too inconsistent.
  24. Would love to see Austin and Long up top with Mane behind running at John Terry in a fortnight. Things are looking up, a good win which we made look quite comfortable giving the shocking Homer performance from Moss. Surprised he didn't give a penalty for the Swan dive into Yoshi at the end.
  25. Monstrous inconsistency with the yellow cards in favour of the home side. Moss was also looking for opportunities to give them free kicks and our disallowed goal would have stood with a stronger referee in the middle. I recall when Nani got a straight red for a high boot - and Cork didn't even get spoke to for two of them.
