Sorry but 'Vic very rarely loses the ball' is a bit of an urban myth. If he's not losing it by being run off it because he is too slow getting the ball away, he is losing it because his passing is so bad it's laughable. If he comes straight back in I am firmly in the Koeman Out camp.
-
Didn't see the game out here in Oz, so not going to comment beyond the fact that Koeman has wasted the opportunity to have go in the absence of Wanyama by playing a back 5. At home. In the FA Cup. Really starting to lose patience with him, and will lose it totally if Wanyama gets back in after his suspension.

You need to remember how bright the average Pompey fan is. Then take into account half of them are less intelligent than that.

Wow - thanks for that. Over thirty years ago! I was in the Milton that day. I knew I was going to get old but didn't realise it would happen this fast.

Being born and brought up in Newport with 2 generations of Welsh ancestors on both sides it was disturbing and a great shock to find my paternal grandfathers mother was born in the shadow of Fratton Park.

Still 4th. Such a painful spot to finish in.......

Norwich V Saints Post match despair...
Kingsbridge Saint replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Why was Mane late for the meeting anyway? I have heard the argument that there is never an excuse for being late but that is clearly ******. What do you do if someone carts their Ford Escort in the middle lane of the M27 and there is a 5 mile tailback to contend with? Leave half an hour earlier? Every time? Do me a favour. If we knew why Mane was late it would enable us to be a bit more objective over the decision to bench him. -
6:07 Clumped cross field pass straight into touch under no pressure 9:19 Trademark shot into Row Z under no pressure Commentator - ' Wanyama was left out when Saints beat Norwich 3-0 earlier in the season' 25:00 Lethargy in the box and no attempt to get to a cross well within reach 49:01 Too slow, easily dispossessed Booked 60:51 Under no pressure, lethargy, came under pressure, easily dispossessed Sent Off This sort of performance is typical from Wanyama. He plays like this most games and is normally just a waste of a shirt yet Koeman picks him every week, which says more about Koeman than Wanyama. He also has a track record of throwing his toys out the pram and being a disruptive influence. He simply has to go in this window.

Need a win really, we are on a knife edge of joining a relegation battle or putting in some breathing space and an outside shot at Europa. I would like to see us playing at a faster pace which precludes Wanyama and also means leaving Long in over Pelle at the moment.
-
Anyone in for Wanyama really, and we'll be fine.
-
We can't play a pressing hassling midfielder like Wanyama who then chooses to stroll around neither pressing or hassling. It's not like he can rely on his sublime first touch, blistering box to box activity, shooting or passing ability either. When he doesn't try, which is pretty much every week (except Arsenal) we are off the pace as a team. Their first goal was a very sloppy 'clearance' from him, that with a bit of care, or a bit of thought could easily have been avoided. As it was the turning point, I am putting this defeat, and the opportunity to turn our season around, down to him. Sooner he buggers off in the window the better.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 4-0 Arsenal
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Good performances all around, including Wanyama for a change. Definite Shop Window stuff from him. Always nice to stuff dirty Arsenal and the officials gave us nothing all night. -
I would love to see some stats this season on the number of sides with 60+% 70+% possession who have lost the game. it would be illuminating I am sure. Also the EPL need to understand how hard it is to watch possession based football at 2am in the morning in Australia, without slipping through the wardrobe to Narnia. Football could do with a shot clock, like water polo. Saints would be buggered of course.

Change of Owner. No investment in January, Kat looking for a Buyer. There's the problem, right there.

I see this Moniker has reappeared on the BBC match report after this game. It always winds me up as it's lazy journalism and up there with football 'hooligan' and drug 'paraphernalia' as a sort of journalistic auto-fill response when they are discussing any of our poorer performances. Is it just me?
-
While Koeman keeps selecting Wanyama I can't support him. Pelle needs a rest too. Get Austin in the window and bring Pelle back in a month or so once he is no longer the focus of a long ball game and an easy out. That tactic has run its course, it's just exposing his lack of first touch and ability to read the game. He is a finisher, and that's it. Hope Koeman walks the talk now - changes needed, so start by sacking off Wanyama to another club and benching Pelle.

Palace 1 Saints 0 - The end of the world?
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Ohio Saint's topic in The Saints
Wanyama sits in that section of a Venn Diagram where woeful finishing, disintersted, and first touch of a camel intersect. -
Form says Palace, good chance of a draw, but the Prem is so unpredictable we could just as easily win 4-0. No idea what sort of mindset our lot will be in, or theirs. I reckon we'll be stinging a bit though after some recent lame arse performances and should step up. Benching Wanyama would help.
-
Finishing was woeful. As bad as anything I have seen in the A League over here. Tongue poking out the corner of the mouth, look of concentration, 40 foot over the bar. Unprofessional.
-
I would have Clasie ahead of Wanyama, at least he wants to be here and compete for his place. Vic just going through the motions, hasn't performed for weeks now, and is on the brink of destabilising the dressing room yet again as another window approaches.
-
It's not how many of the six 'he should have saved' it's more the fact that he didn't save ANY. Put a shopping trolley in the middle of the goal with a keepers shirt on and at least one of those six hits it.
-
If Saints had hit those 6 shots against an average Premier League goalkeeper we would have scored maybe twice. Stekelenberg was terrible.
-
7 shots on target, 6 goals. Stekelenberg I am looking at you. Some of those would have hit a wheelie bin if we had put it in a keepers jersey and stood it in the middle of the goals.
-
After the Europa fiasco and his recent lame form Wanyama owes us a massive performance.

Complete donkey in Koemans eyes. And mostly everyone else's. Still, $20K per week aint bad if you can get it. Whoever sanctioned that signing should be on a written warning.
