  1. Permission to speak Sir, This song holds special memories for me, my own Grandfather passed away in '72 & this was still being regularly played on the radio, whenever I hear it I think of my own grandad. Dads Army is one of the greatest shows ever produced by the BBC. Rip L/cpl Jones & thanks for the memories.
  2. I can't be bothered to read through this post, I think I can guess what's been said. However things could have been very different if: a) Ricky hadn't hit the bar. b) We'd got the penalty we should have. c) Lucky deflection didn't take first goal past Gazza. and here's the rub: d) If the ref had HEARD the lino tell him there was a handball in the build-up for the first goal, yes, according to the report in The Mirror, the ref didn't hear him. What ever happened to waving his effin' flag, or speaking to him after the goal had been scored.
  3. How-do matey, oops, I notced that after I typed it , but because I've gone all Ebenezer Scrooge, I couldn't edit it. Wasn't D o'C a Jam fan too?
  4. The Jam were probably my favourite band of my formative years, sadly though they broke up in '82 when I was 14 & I never got the chance to see them live. Tube Station is my favourite, it used to be my location on SWF, until I got tight and stopped paying my fiver.
  5. He's right to effectively ingore the question, if he states that he's got reassurance, it will be seen as the dreaded vote of confidence. If NC hasn't spoken to NA, it will be looked on in a negative way. He's also right that we need results.
  6. Exactly my thoughts. Hopefully he won't go all "Chappers" on us.
  7. That make it all very real. It could be any of us on the way home tonight. I don't think the pedestrian at 2:56 had a happy ending.
  8. It's character building if it doesn't happen too often. My nipper's rugby team lost by over 100 points on Sunday. This was due to a combination of playing a very good team & only being able to put out a weakened team. When it got to 50 the ref asked if they wanted to stop, they chose to carry on and were regulary asked if they wanted to stop, the answer was the same each time, they played to the end. For the last 15 minutes, for a bit of a laugh, they even switched the backs with the forwards (uncontested scrums for those that know). Despite getting a sound thrashing, they all came off smiling & I gaurantee they will all be back for training on Thursday.
  9. Well done guys, did my 3 mile stroll yesterday. It was bitterly cold waiting around at the start, but after a couple of minutes running soon warmed up. I thoroghly enjoyed it, much better than a training run. Need to get the knee sorted & I'll join you guys for the grown-ups race next year.
  10. Rather like the "Top of The Pops" compilation albums, they were the "Now" of their day, but poor copies played by session musicians. I've noticed that B&Q do this now, the piped music in their stores is a copy.

  12. Is that Mark Dennis in the black coat?
  13. I really wouldn't believe a word they tell you, they are not experts at anything except selling, In fact I'm sure I'm correct when I say they don't need any professional qualifications to be one. When we were viewing houses to buy, I pointed out to the EA that the flank wall was bulging because the wall ties had failed, as a Structural Engineer I've a vague idea what I'm talking about. His reply was "you don't need wall ties" - priceless.
  14. You're probably right, if I were a professional sportsman, sadly I never made it out of the Junior leagues, so that makes me someone that goes to a match to be entertained. To be honest I'm not enjoying it a great deal at the moment, and I don't really get entertained by van Persie scoring a hatrick, Fellani making us look like mugs & our defence being ripped to shreds every week.
  15. There was a piece about this on tv recently, possibly the One Show. Only in Britain could we be so amateurish, it would make an ideal plot for an Ealing comedy.
  16. Aren't they the tear off strips at the bottom of a bill, that you fill out & hand in at the bank with your payment? I don't think they are of monitory benifit to yourself.
  17. Wrap up warm chaps, it's forcast to be chilly at the weekend.
  18. But if this place is such a cess-pit why on earth would you want to move back here? You clearly despise the place.
  19. Wow. There are many things wrong with both the BBC & Britain, but to call them both "cess pits" is plainly ridiculous, there are many countries a lot worse off than our own, where you can't walk the streets in relative safety, or can't express views without the fear of a bullet in the back of the head, these places are cess-pits. I will bet any money, that if life goes tits-up in sunny Austria, you'd be on the first plane back claiming your rights to use the NHS & have your kids educated for free, then complaing that you had to wait to see the Doc & there are more than 20 kids in the class. Sometimes Alps, you talk utter sh!te.
  20. Nothing wrong with a bit of gallows humour, we won two world wars off the back of it.
  21. It's always good to have an ambition.
  22. What concerns me is the hardening of Adkins attitude. He appears to have become inflexible as the “we play 4-3-3” comment illustrates. Unlike some, I don’t purport to be a football expert & to be honest the intricacies of differing systems is sometimes beyond me. However, even a thicky like me can see than if it aint working, something needs to change. I worried that his intransigence, will see him out of a job. Evolve or die. Having said that is it 433 that’s doing for us, or is it a case that the defence isn’t up to the job.
  23. Don't understand why Gazza was dropped in favour of Boruc. However, it does illustrate one of two possibilities, 1) We have three inept keepers 2) We have inept defence. Personally, for me it's the second one. Maybe, just maybe KD isn't quite as bad as made out by some. It matters very little how good the keeper is, if the defence is sh!te, you will leak goals. Unfortunately it's always the keeper that kops the flak.
  24. Ultimately, it's your responsibility, of course you can ask the builder to organise it, but don't just assume they have/will do. It's your property after all. Also I assume whatever this wall is supporting, will still need supporting after it's gone, this would more than likely need a steel, which will need designing. No matter what a builder will tell you, it' not just a case of looking at it and saying "It just needs a bit of 8x4 rsj mate".
