Played it a lot as a kid. Best story, my best mate [ I was with him] took a team he had [of broken players] back to Oswald Bailey [ 1971 ish] in Southampton. He asked to swap it for another team. Fortunately for us,we just managed to get out of the shop in time before they twigged on,in any case we were pretty quick in those days.

Could not see them equalizing, they put us under no sustained pressure the whole match. It was a bad goal to give away,Harding had no need to give away the corner and we defended it like a pub side. Overall, would have taken a point before the game, just a shame we ended up dropping 2 with a terrible bit of defending.

Saw Saints win 1-0 in 1976 and went to see probably 6 games in the seventies ,as I wanted to see the teams they were playing against.

They are dirty and cynical, not a surprise really with a south american duo in charge.

Do you really believe we will be promoted this season,Yes or No ?

If we get in a couple of top buys in january and improve our away form, the. n perhaps we can finish 2 nd to West Ham[Who are not playing well and still 2nd].Cardiff are the team that worry me. -
The away form is putting more and more pressure on the team to win every home game. This is a very tricky game, you just do not know what you will get from Blackpool.[We are going to drop points at home at some time, winning this and the two games over christmas is a very, very tall order]

With our away form, starting to stutter, how worried should we be with the next two away fixtures, which will both be played in totally hostile atmospheres,at Portsmouth and Brighton. I totally accept that we will have a few blips along the way. My concern is that having played so poorly away against to lowly sides,we will not handle the cauldrons of Fratton Park and The Amex. I am absolutely delighted where we are and am not trying to be defeatist, but maybe more pragmatic and realistic. There is obviously the other side of the cxoin, that we will raise our game and get two satisfactory results. Any thoughts?

Doncaster 1 - 0 Saints - Post Match Reaction

Another totally inept away performance. I said after seeing us lose at Bristol that are away performances were becoming a concern. [With Portsmouth and Brighton our next two away games, with the fragility away that has been becoming more and more apparent ,it is difficult to see us getting any thing from those games, which will be played in very hostile atmospheres]. The worrying thing is that we have not scored and have created so few chances in these last two games. We have to be realistic and accept that we were due a dip in form, but against these two particular sides?? I know West Ham lost, but their away record will see them alright, because they will win a few more than they lose at home before the end of the season. Finally with the options on the bench today,it was unlikely that we would ever pull even one goal back. -
Must win game,we have to start winning more away games, especially against the lesser sides. Automatic promotion will depend on how many wins we can get away from home for the rest of the season. Our away form has invariably been our achilles heel,[ last two seasons excluded, which were in league one] we cannot rely solely on our magnificent home form. We will have to play a lot better than at Bristol to win tomorrow. Head says 2-1 to Saints.

Well pleased,welcome on board Jos.

I am a very big Guly fan,but the thing that really disappointed me was the fact that his mind seemed totally elsewhere, for virtually the whole match last night. I have no problem with any player having an off night,if they show willing. For the record quite a few of the players have been pretty ordinary in the last couple of games.

Really good comeback against a decent side. However how the hell did we manage 70% possession. The stats make the game look a walkover and it was far from that.
-
For four seasons his goal scoring and overall commitment were magnificent. He probably did have a big ego,but his value to the club in his prime footballing years should never be under estimated.
-
Any fans who thinks Chaplow will not be missed, have not been watching the same games as most of the clubs fan base. He has been magnificent.

Gary Speed was one of the rarest breed of footballers, the ultimate proffessional on and off the pitch. Very,Very sad. R.I.P .

We did not handle Adamoah or Maynard and were second best for most of the game. Hopefully this is a one off reverse and we will beat Hull on tuesday. one thing I will say is that the referee and linesman[ the Saints end] were so biased towards Bristol it was untrue. There were 10-12 blatant fouls on Saints players which were not even given.
-
Having seen the highlights[ I was at the game],we shold have had 2 more maybe 3 penalties, with our first one not given. They are a dirty cynical team, just like their South Americam management.

This says an awful lot for -The Football league vetting process. On a secondary note I feel terribly sorry for a couple of Portsmouth season ticket holders I used to work with, they were top guys, the rest of them who cares. -

So what is our best performance of the season?

My mate who went to Ipswich said the first half of that game we were unplayable. For me it would be a toss up between the first half against Leeds and the 15th to 45th minutes against Birmingham at home. -
First away game for a couple of years, will be far trickier than some on here predict, but if we play to any thing like our full potential, hope fully we will come back with all 3 points.
-
If we get in a couple of top quality players in january,we will be there or there abouts. Asside from West Ham who are not playing well and are ominously 2nd, I think the biggest threat are Cardiff.
-
That appalling decision yesterday was evened out by the referees decision not to give a stonewaller a little later, when Rickie was blatantly stopped from getting off the ground for a goal scoring header at the back post. The shirt pulling at the other end[which I only saw close up on the tv] seemed pretty clear cut as well.

What has David Peach got to do with the last 20 or so years.[For the record I was a fan of his,and saw his debut in 1974 ].
