The players he had been left with you can hardly say it's entirely down him even if we are bottom in 10 games time.... Let's face it it is a poison Chalis this year and fair play to him for taking it on... Can barely be arssed to tune into it at all and even less offer critism of the Manager when the Directors have so completely managed to succeed in steadily dismantling a very good team. Hats off to them for some incredibly bad business management. Sell your best assets even in Monopoly and you won't win with Whitechapel and Old Kent Road! In football you need assets not cash. I feel for Puel ......

We have lost the initiative

Disappointing
-
This is turning out to be exciting isn't it......
-
Couldn't agree more! Hyped up average player...
-
Obviously that wasn't why we didn't keep him here though ...
-
The first question that comes to mind is why we let Steklenburg go in that case .....

Look chum. You don't have a monopoly in supporting Saints all your life !!! 99% of those going through the turnstiles have done.... Having an opinion is not 'slagging off' it's caring and wanting the best for the team. You obviously couldn't care less if sell all our prized players and end up going backwards - that's up to you but stop the ambitious amongst us craving to beat the the big teams like Leicester. So crawl back in your hole, bury your head in the sand accept what ever befalls you and the winners amongst us strive for medals. As we too have done for a life time!

I would be vaguely interested in your opinions someday but not your opinions on other posters just on SFC thank you ..

Well summed up. The silence is deafening, the complacency is dreadfully naive. Actually this has all the hallmarks of a company for sale, driving up profit whilst sweating the assets..... Otherwise why would we be 'free wheeling' It's not making sense considering the heights we reached last season and the potential to grow further....

Benteke to Crystal Palace, this is becoming very frustrating....

We don't agree on a lot but this is very true. We sell before we have replacements lined up which is just plain bad management... Have to say we are patently well short of a team now and it's time for action.... -
Man Utd v Saints Post Match Hmmmmm.....

Why do people join forums if they don't respect the fact there will be opposing and different opinions there. Stick to opinions and comment about the subject of the thread and please stop trolling individuals because they have the temerity to have an opinion different to yours. -
Do me a favour!!! That is not evidence to the contrary of the point I am making in any way shape or form.....

He is under contract for another two years that is the end of the story. If he had a poor Euros and poor early form for us would he have taken a pay cut? No, thought not! The thing is though the board insist on encouraging the big clubs in by not making an assertive statement stating he is going nowhere. This is unsettling and yet again we handle this episode in an amateur fashion...
-
Is that the sum total of our ambition?
-
If the agent had we are horrible to deal with in transfers that would be good to hear but we aren't. Agents must love us as we are an easy touch.
-
U I have to say Charlie that you are right. We encourage hostile offers by this total silence... We do not send out clear messages so no wonder the competition keep Cherry picking our players. We are ambivalent in the extreme and its hurting the prospects of the team and giving a hand up to our competitors at the same time. Liverpool in particular must be laughing their heads off at us but all the top clubs just do what they want with us and we don't say boo even... It is not only the selling of the family silver but also the massive unsettling effect on the team that are left. It is way past time to stop selling anyone unless they are crap.... Oh strangely no one wants the rubbish... There is little point in asking the players to have a winning mentality if the board don't have one!
-
There is compelling evidence now that players are very keen to leave this club as soon as humanly possible. That is a concern. We are not assertive enough in telling players that whilst under contract they will be staying so we therefore encourage interest from other clubs in the full knowledge we will crumble. If as a club we cannot have the ambition to keep a team together and look to really consolidate progress we make we WILL decline. Same for any business. Some fans might say, wake up and smell the coffee, we ARE a feeder club - a sort of under 21 team for the bigger boys including Everton apparently! Some might say that is a defeatist attitude and not ambitious.... Some might say our credibility is being eroded and Koeman was in fact right ..... We were not going to go any further than he took us... As we appear to be ready to lay down and have our belly tickled. Every year the virus of discontent with the better players in the squad will continue to fester. Is it time we laid down the law to our players and started sending a firm message to our competition too that we do not sell our best assets? A winning mentality starts off the pitch in the board room and our board are now in a 'pecking order' state of mind where we know our place and act accordingly.... Yes ' We March on' but every year now we are lambs to the slaughter and our generals meanwhile smoke cigars and drink champagne back at head quarters.... We offer no deterrent to the enemy....

N That's like comparing cheese with concrete an analogy that doesn't resemble in any way..
-
What on earth are you dribbling about.... 15m is peanuts. We need players not a measly 15m - get a grip..... It's about winning football matches and not how much money you can accumulate short term!!!! What on earth !!!!!!
-
Great news. A player who was messed around by Koemans over tinkering....
-
It Very accurate and sensible post. Sam will nothing picking the press favourites so the choice is his! What will he do I wonder? Does he have the balls ?
-
Oh dear you can't say things like that on here ..... :-))) Shame about the comments regarding 'did he play in goal' etc..... Obviously he did have a massive individual effect on the last last few games and we haven't replaced him ..... That is a concern particularly as we have let Pelle go too... I wasn't his biggest fan but he had a role.. Hopefully we have more replacements to come but really they should be here in pre season if we are to very well prepared ....
