I'd agree that the Ramirez transfer was one that showed an ambition, especially after the previous four years, but I think most people considered the Osvaldo saga to be a farce.

But this is exactly what we do, chasing shadows rather than realistic targets. How much time was spent on Rojo ? Wonder if our Les's glorious Global Scouting Network had considered Dier at the same club, and eventually sold for a quarter of the price? A target we should have been chasing in May/early June when we still had some remaining credibity as a club promoting exceptional English talent. We spent much of last summer chasing Osvaldo, when it was obvious he didn't want to join us. We know how successful that was. The year before it was weeks and weeks of Ramirez, yet to prove a success.

QPR for starters, then there may be others once firmly known he is prepared to move (Newcastle springs to mind) and he may even want to stay at WHL to wait his chance.

Where has he said that ? I only recall "1 or possibly 2" and reference to wing or wide player (can't recall which phrase he used) but nothing specific about CB. As you say this is a mistake, as we I feel we need another better option at CB, injury or suspension will see us exposed in this area.
