With Minty no longer pit bulling everyone as a moderator I am rather partial to this ancient saying from Artovision. "Alone you are a drip But together we are an ocean"

I think one needs to live overseas to realise how much folk living in Little Britain these days are so quick to sell their own down the river. Protest by all means against big brother, against the likes of XFactor and Cowell, but surely for the sake of our own national identity we could have all got behind many a real music British band or artist to seal the number one at Christmas. Not so long ago Pink Floyd brought out a far more appropriate number. "The Wall" Surely words like "Leave those kids alone" is far more appropriate to what is going on in the name of Cowell and XFactor than f*CK, F*CK, F*CK over an over. Even Lily Allen's "F*CK YOU" sent out a far stronger message and is British. F*ck you (F*ck you) F*ck you very, very much Cause we hate what you do And we hate your whole crew So please don't stay in touch F*ck you (F*ck You) F*ck you very, very much Cause your words don't translate And it's getting quite late So please don't stay in touch At least Mister Cowell's Empire is proving to the Yanks that British has talent and can do anything they do far better.

FYI Yesterday, the EU passed the final hurdle in the freedom of borders directive on Radio, TV and VOD online. It's supposed to be in place by today, 19th December 2009. Could make a difference on commentaries online and watching matches too.

Tomorrow's Mirror claims that the only winner from this race is none other than Simon Cowell and that's what some of us have been saying all along. Joe won XFactor by the votes of the British public and not by a vote from Cowell. It's the British public who are the losers. http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2009/12/18/x-factor-whatever-the-result-simon-wins-115875-21905279/

The Monkies shows and all the clones manufaction in the USA were shown in the States long before their records were released. Here in Britain we had to wait a long long time to get any program or music that was released in the States. Thanks to the likes of Simon Cowell and others things have changed, become more global. Love is found in all that brings the world together, whilst hatred is spread by disuniting and tearing apart. I am clear in my head who unites and who tears apart. In a democracy we have freedom of choice, but there are still many who don't see it that way. Every success lasts for so long and the likes of Simon Cowell is having his day but most of us know if you just ignore it, it soon goes away. He's loving every minute of the publicity this campaign gives him. As Oscar Wilde once said, there is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about. History is littered with genious's who everyone laughed at. Yet people wouldn't be laughing if they were as smart to come up the smart ideas. Cowell is making things happen to millions of people that previously never existed whilst earning a lot of money too. Why even the Rage have jumped on his bandwagon to rekindle their flagging careers. Thank you St Marco and others for giving Mr Cowell such a boost to that already huge ego of his. Once could almost forget what Christmas was all about to start with.

All but A, the original spelling of the name Pardew was "Pardieu", or "he came through God", as opposed to my earlier season suggestion when I referred to him as "PasDieu", or "he's not God", when everyone was getting so excited how good he would be. I am delighted to be shown to have been proved wrong but there are clear indications in the stars of troubled times from this month for the man.

Was there any mention of Reading parting company with Rodgers? That's all we need them sniffing around Pardieu to save them from extinction. Glad for once we're in one of the best situations of most clubs in the country.

OMG, someone has noticed after all these years that the king doesn't have any clothes. What comes around goes around and here we are once again seeing how the Socialist empire came to be. Where were you all when I was involved in the campaigning against ENDERMOL 5 years ago. I think NORM was the only one who showed any interest. In this time of world recession anyone, anything that generates work creation, no matter what it is, is moving in the right direction. Who gives a f*** who's number one when there are millions living below the breadline. Does the evil ogre Simon Cowell not also pay some 25% of what he earns into charity? Maybe the motivation is avoiding tax but the causes his empire aids and supports does do some good with the ill earned gains. As long as it gives some people an interest, keeps them occupied and a cause no problems, but surely in this world there are better reasons to open one's eyes and pull out a tenner or two.

Certainly shows what someone previous noted of Nicolas Cortese's lack of patience and I suppose tolerance. Could provide answers for how Andrew Oldknow was so quick to leave a few weeks back. I just hope Pardieu continues to produce the results. We may see Rupert Lowe one day considered slow in management changes in comparison to Cortese.

The only thing missing were caravans. I can't believe that usually staunch and loyal Saints fans can post and comment on what was a clip starring a number of Caravan dwellers of dubious moron origins and their leader.

Thought much the same reading this thread earlier Col. Take a look at a 18 year old footballer apprentice James Beattie and facially he don't look much different to this Joe McElderry. How did most of us look at that age but bet none could sing note perfect despite never having performed other than karaoke prior to XFactor. Give the lad a couple of years and then pass an opinion. Surprised no one's ever mentioned how Olly Murs looks like a George Bush Jnr clone.

Male or female?

Not so long as Alan Pardieu is in charge you won't! More likely to see Kevin Davies than Beatts, especially when it comes to playing ugly. Shall never forget Davies putting Ashley Cole out of action to allow Bridgey into the England team.

Not wishing to tempt fate I have to say sadoldgit that I thoroughly agree with you. I really believed that Pardieu had sold out, lost his touch after he walked out on Reading. I've never forgiven him or other like managers who leave a club before completely the job they were hired for. In returning to basics in League One he has recaptured the genious that made him so sought after at Reading. I haven't felt so optimistic about Saints in a long long while and am beginning to believe we are finally on the up. Other managers have done it in taking clubs from the relegation places around Christmas time to promotion in the same season. There are two managers this season about to give that challenge and the other teams a run for their money. Pardieu at Saints and that horrible man Roy Keane at Ipswich. He too finally seems to be turning things around.

Come on without, come on within You ain't seen nothin' like the Mighty Saints. The Black Cats did it Palace did it. Now the mighty Saints are doing it. Bottom to top, In one big hop. The Saints are doing it The Saints are back in town. In Pardieu I now trust. In Pardieu I now trust.Pardieu's got our mojo working, he's got the XFactor Absolutely brilliant stuff from the lads. Pardieu has brought the pleasure back into following football, in following Saints. The Saints are doing it The Saints are back in town!

I have to agree 100% with your thoughts derry. We now live under a completely new framework and as such Marcus Liebherr is rightly President/Owner of Southampton Football Club. I see no one better placed to represent our club, or it's hopes, it's future and supporters.. At the same time Marcus has shown his respect for the clubs history and all what it has stood for all these years prior to the Apocalypse and it's eventual rebirth under his generous and life saving gesture.

Jan, I've got a nasty feeling where this is all leading. As the secretary of his fan club I see your next suggestion being Leon Crouch. Lord forbid, I hope that he and all the past renegrades stay well away despite having a good heart, money but a wonky way of doing things..
-
That is a sure bet and maybe they won't even make it to the end of the year either. The Domino effect hitting the Arab property market is going to bring down the lot, sooner than later. I can even think Guided Missile's recent post may become reality with Liebherr family empire swopping in and gobbling up a pile of rust and turning it into a thriving shipyard depot for their oversized vehicles. Christmas is really going to be really special for us Saints fans.........and that's without even gloating.:smt040

I am delighted to see we are finally out of the bottom four. Been a long time coming but what a sheer delight it is. If the likes of Sunderland, Crystal Palace can go in December from bottom to top at the end of the season, then who's to say Saints can't do it. Onwards and upwards Pardieu.

Nice to see EPL Talk are doing an interview with the legend and have posted a great photo of Ron in his younger days. Questions please for Ron http://www.epltalk.com/questions-please-for-ron-davies-southampton-legend/13406

With Liebherr technology and a fast track railway anything would be possible. I've long said any such ground share should include the Cherries, although depending on what league they'd play in, one would find it hard to fit in games from three clubs and maintain a playable surface.

Chance of a signing before the loan window closes?
ART replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Surprised to see the illustrious Stern John has been signed by Roy Keane on loan at Ipswich. Wasn't it Keane who gave us John as part of the Kenwyne Jones deal? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/i/ipswich_town/8381985.stm -
During the Napoleonic War a French warship got shipwrecked off Hartlepool. Aboard was a Mascot monkey that was dressed in an Admiral's uniform. It survived but the locals ceremonially had it hung as a Frenchman.
-
Just as with Strachan and Kevin Davies, Burley with half the squad, I just can't accept managers who are incapable of getting the best out of players at their disposition. There is no excuse to exclude anyone and this shows the short comings in our managers abilities.

Nice to see 62% of French public opinion supports the match being replayed. It's left a really bitter taste in the month of the average man in the street. Even more is the French Football Association's decision to reconfirm the manager in his job, a manager who is such a bad loser yet condons cheating in order to qualify with a team of useless prima donnas. We ain't heard the end of this affair by a long shot. To add your vote to French Public Opinion in Le Monde http://www.lemonde.fr/sport/sondage/2009/11/20/etes-vous-favorable-a-ce-que-le-match-france-irlande-soit-rejoue_1269657_3242.html#ens_id=1245881
