  1. I posted yesterday morning about Roy O'Donovan after Sporting Life mentioned in their Paper Talk that the Daily Star were reporting that Pardew was interested in signing him. I later posted again but found myself unable to answer Saint Clark's request for the source. .comsaint galantly provided the link to the Irish Independant article where I'd seen it after searching on Google earlier. Few Saints supporters onm here can be bothered googling, preferring to discusswho the Skates have or have not signed all day. This guy looks good and just what we need.
  2. I just can't understand Saints fans who post on here any longer. It's taken all day before anyone starts thinking about our season, who we might sign. Yet we're debating about who the Skates will/have signed, anything but taken time and google and find out who we are going to sign. I posted earlier, now there are more articles. Seems we're after Roy O'Donavan from Sunderland. Striker/winger. "Meanwhile, O'Donovan is looking for the move to kick-start his career in the UK after a frustrating 12 months. The winger-cum-attacker spent time on loan at Blackpool last season and has Championship interest in his services, but fallen giant Southampton have emerged as a possible destination. They would make the former Cork City man a key player in their quest to get out of League One, and the 24-year-old is understood to be attracted by that challenge. While O'Donovan and Murphy are keen on permanent moves, it is possible that loan arrangements will be struck Now go and do some googling and find that Pardew is interested in this guy and find out more about where HCDAGJFU
  3. Sunderland striker Roy O'Donovan, 24, is about to be signed by Southampton boss Alan Pardew according to Sunderland fans.
  4. Are you sure you're not mixing him up with Olivier Bernard who Redknapp brought in to play at left back. He was notorious for leaving the defence unguarded. Le Saux from what I recall was injured from October 2004 and retired as a result at the end of the relegation season. Harry had Camara stay upfield and swop from left to right because he was the best player we had to get the ball up into the penalty area. Elsewhere, Camara is 32 years old and would be 33 next year not 36.
  5. After seeing what Notts Country have done with the contract offer to Campbell at 34 years old, I can't see why Saints now can't offer a decent and attractive contract to 32 year old Henri Camara. He's just the type of player who can turn things round for us operating out on either wings and linking up with our other strikers. What the hell is holding us back for such signings?
  6. I'm dying to know who it is. Should be a colorful match tonight.
  7. Yes indeed and no Wooton, Perry, or Kelvin Davies either. I think we had a lot to thank Jack Cork for in Jan's selections and it really did fall away when we lost him.
  8. One year ago Jan's nippers ran Birmingham off the park with a 2 nil win. It was definitely Jan's hour of glory. Interesting was the team he put out that night and the one that will play tomorrow night. Pardew better have a young rabbit or two to pull out of the bag. Jan's team selection August 2008 SOUTHAMPTON: Bialkowski; James; Thomas; Cork; Surman; Schneiderlin (John, 57); Gillett (Mills, 60); Wotton; Lallana; Holmes; McGoldrick. Subs: Forecast; Dyer; Lancashire; White; Wright-Phillips.
  9. If he was just popping in I wouldn't him to be dressed up in a manner one would turn up to meet the big man. He definitely wasn't so dressed last time someone on here posted him watching a game last season. To tell you the truth I'd have preferred Coppell as manager over Pardew or even Strachan anyday.
  10. This thread ought to have been a sticky to throw light on what a sick society we live in. Latest news from the hospital says that Calum may lose a leg and not be able to play again. I am gutted to read this and even more so the sick comments of some who pretend to be Saints supporters. Very very sad and my sympathy goes out to Calum and to his mother and hoping the doctors can save his leg. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/466189/Hammers-star-Calum-knifed-Docs-battle-to-save-Davenportrsquos-leg.html
  11. What an absolute disgrace! A paying football website and the admin team can't be arsed to put up match threads anymore. Just as with the Saints Trust etc once they've collected the money nothing is done. I'd have thought better of Baz at least. For those wanting fast updates, with text live commentary of todays game, statistics of ALL matches being played, team selections, live tables etc you DON'T need to sign up to receive and use the FREE SAINTS MATCH CONSOLE.(Saints version of the old Sunderland match console we used previously) Here's the direct link to today's game http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/player/LiveMatches/0,,10280,00.html Enjoy! And 3 points today.........please!!!!
  12. Did he mention that he and his missus were over in Ireland this week looking at property? The new and challenging post had to be Director of the Academy if it's Saints related. He's said for years he'd like to be involved with youngsters, kids at the roots of football after he stopped managing.
  13. I don't believe that he was glad that Saints were relegated, more that Wotte failed to save us. I believe he thinks he could have saved us from relegation and that Wotte got his just desserts. I believe that Jan was an excellent coach but not made out for management, especially in this country. He was backstabbed and sold down the river from day one. I never liked Wotte and even during the close season he was a conniving, calculating chancer. Give me Jan any day and Steve Coppel doesn't say he considers him one of the top coaches for nothing. He was a top coach and the youngsters did play attractive football.
  14. Sad as the whole story is, I salute the Scottish Justice system for showing compassion despite the man having apparently never having shown compassion to any of his victims. I just feel that the Yanks have missed a wonderful opportunity and how ironic it would have been had they shot the plane returning him to Libya out of the skies. That would have shown the true compassion America shows to the world instead of needless and empty preaching what others should do.
  15. I believe, having read reference to the appointment before the transfer window opens next summer that Pardew himself is who Cortese intends to appoint Director of Sport. That his current job is a learning curve for him prior to him taking on Director of Sport. This is often the continental way of making appointments. The sad thing is that we look like ending up with Pardew then appointing his side kick from Brighton Dean Wilkins as manager. Destiny tells me that Pardew will be gone by the end of November and it's certainly looking that way more and more with the start to things. Does anybody reckon we'd be without a win if Dennis Wise had been brought in. No way! I rue the day they didn't appoint Wise as manager.
  16. As I've said previously, and I hope to gawd it's not so, but according to desting, Pardew will be gone by the end of November. It's Burley revisited but he won't get so long to ruin things.
  17. And also Sol Campbell in talks too!
  18. Oh wise one, think back to whom Gordon Strachan wrote was the best administrator in football that he had worked with. You can rest assured that that person will be applying for the post with Strachan's blessings!
  19. This news qabout Murty kind of looks like we now know why the team played so f u c k ing awful on Saturday. It was too obvious that something or someone wasn't right. Otherwise how do you explain why they suddenly performed so terrible and Pardew's face looked like Jan in his final days. This is the Burley scenario all over again.
  20. Where the signing of Jaidi is concerned we don't need to be in any hurry. Ramadan starts this week for a month and he'll be of no use till it's over in 1 months time. Frees can be signed at any time even out of the transfer window.
  21. Thank you .comsaint for the match treats. Saw a definite Ron Davies leap in that first photo of Ricky but shrank with horror in seeing Alan Pardew looking too much like Jan in his final days when he knew there was little he could do. Just hope it won't come to that. Just hope that they get the Director of Sport appointment and choice of Board members right. Steve Coppell anyone?
  22. Great stuff ladysaint but honestly, isn't it time you invested in a birdseye zoom lens to put an end to the Michail Bentine FleaCircus type shots of the players. And just to think with a birdseye zoom lens you'd been able to capture all those thigh shots you've so missed since Kevin Davies left!
  23. Well compares identically with Jan's Young Nippers side of a year ago and the following game at Derby we beat them and then beat top club Birmingham 2-0 at St Mary's in the Cup. A year ago our style of football and effort was the envy of the whole league. So surely, one League lower, a top English manager, additional players we should have put on a good show today. I'm sorry, and no one's noted this, but firstly Cortese has to learn fast that you don't make announcements of bringing in a Director of Sport to whom your manager reports to before the game. Where does that leave Pardew in the player's eyes? You can't say we don't have the players. The team put out and the substitutions was abominable. I never expected a win but a draw was within our expectations. I said it a month ago, but destiny seesPardew will be gone come November the way things are progressing. Let's see what he shows against Brum and against Swindon who signed a Bolton striker this week.
  24. See you can log on free to the Saints player Live Match Console like we could previously with the Sunderland. Text commentary, statistics. other games etc. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/player/LiveMatches/0,,10280,00.html
  25. We might as well try and get some goals from him as he puts himself in the shop window. Good news this morning is that Hull have turned down the chance of signing Henri Camara. As I mentioned earlier, he's just the type of player to link up with Lambert and with him available on a Free the money can be spent on an attractive play and goals deal.
