  1. I think it's more a case of the boss trying to decide whether Wooten is worth keeping. I think he's giving him and some others a chance before bringing in others and releasing some players. I think that Gillet may have a problem injury wise. Great to see Thomas, crowing on the Official site about being super fit. Bet he's the first player to be laid off with injuries.

    JPS

If he's so keen on returning why hasn't he got on a plane or ferry and asked for a trial at St Mary's. Kind of left it a bit late but surely he could have come over and made himself known in person. If he's waiting for an all expenses trip over he can surely forget it but if he came over in person, doubt if the boss would refuse him a trial. Sadly it sounds more like the Echo hard up for a story. We don't even know if the guys been training, ready to play, something the ECHO forgot to check about.
  3. Henri Camara is a free agent and would do a fantastic job for us with the likes of Lamert. If money isn't a problem and there's no fees involved then he'd be a great signing. I say this as he no longer seems bothered by his international career so League One and Saints just might appeal to him.

    3 down...

Matt Oakley would be an ideal aquisition if we are to stand any hopes of making the play-offs. Problem is, just how much would Leicester want us to pay to get him back.
  6. Wonderful news and congratulations to Tac-tic for being a genuine ITK hereafter to be known as Tac-tic (GITK). http://="http://www.skysports.com/football/leagueone/0,19734,11718,00.html"
  7. The problem is not the fitness but rather how the energy generated is dispersed. We are not taking control, haven't been taking control of games for a long while now. We nearly always take the lead, don't take advantage of that lead, and then leave ourselves wide open due to the inability to take hold and control the opposition and the game. Lawd knows how these players would have done in days when there were no substitutes! I felt yesterday Pardew waited far to long before using the subs. Just look how Millwall took control after 2 very good substitutions. Now that we're putting together a strong defence we'll have to work on how to take control. Afterall, we have excellent passers of the ball and have the ability to slow the game down, yet Pardew seems to want to see them all running non stop as was the case with Saga-is-offski. Control of the game is the issue and making efficient use of the fitness, by ultimum disperal of energy efficiently over 95 minutes not 45.
  8. On the day the new owner appoints our new Chairman, all our supporters can do is harp on about the relicts of Crouch, Lowe, from the past. When oh when is the past going to be buried and we supporters move on. I thought Duncan's promotion of Pinnacle as the new scapegoat a start, but not a soul has bothered to announce the new Executive Chairman's appointment. Well done all those who harp on and on about the past.
  9. Premium TV used to do a match console and radio commentary deal for 19 quid. Somewhere along the line they've become greedy like everyone. 39 quid for overseas listeners is day light robbery. I can't see too many joining to listen to League One matches unless Saints get themselves into the top positions pretty early on. How can Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland still offer free online radio commentary but other clubs stitch their supporters. It's almost certain the commentaries will be those of Radio Solent who's online commentaries elsewhere will be blocked. We've not had decent commentary since PlanetFM days.

    Saints "player"

All this means is that Saints have joined Premium TV like 95% of the clubs in the country. It entitles you to the match commentaries of all the games of every club plus some Euro teams matches. You'll have the commentary, the match consol and you'll have to pay 39 quid per year like other clubs except Sheiffield Wednesday do.
  11. Ahhhh!!!! But procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday. Remember, Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday. And a man too.
  12. I think the biggest shock is going to be who will be on the new Board. That's when we'll see just how much we've been taken for mugs. Patience is indeed needed but I'm not at all impressed by the lack of ambition shown by Pardew's back up team. Seems to me more like he's avoiding taking on anyone who might pose a threat to himself as manager in future. I just can't can't imagine what some of the young players are thinking about what's being said. I'm hoping Pardew was thinking more of the Ollie Lancashires than those other youngsters that give the all for the club.
  13. I thought we were in line to sign Christiano Beckham before Friday. Then again Percy Snodgrass would be a lot cheaper.
  14. As far as the new Board is concerned there will be an announcement in mid August. This was announced at the time of the completion of the takeover. Football matters are in the hands of Alan Pardew and the lines in future will be well divided. I believe we've made huge progress already and you don't necessarily bring in new people when others haven't left yet. Negociations and awaiting other clubs to decide or also replace players we want can slow things down. Patience and faith in the manager would be a wonderful thing. The turnabout against Hearts showed things are happening, let's hope that the match against QPR will install further confidence. More haste, less speed, and I'd rather he gets it right than panic buy.
  15. I had more in mind the prim young females given up into their care. Must say even in my days few over fifteen year olds at convent schools were virgins. Doubt if much has changed today. More important where are we going to find sufficient qualities of virgin wee before the Millwall game?
  16. In Pardew calling out "pass it to Adam" and nobody did then Pardew probably wasn't intending this at all. More likely it would have been a coded message to the players just as his number of claps etc..
  17. Still plenty of time for someone to nip down to one of the local convents, do a little bit of plumbing and collect all the virgin wee they can. Then ensure before the big day someone gets into the ground and sprinkles it all over the pitch, the corner and goal posts. Don't forget to save some to sprinkle the satellite receiver and contract with Sky. Should do the trick. Only trouble is. Do the convents still maintain the virginity regulation or do we have to search farther afield?
  18. If Solent aren't going to play ball with us today QPR have used this link for all their pre season friendly commentaries. With luck it'll be the same today. http://www.qpr.co.uk/page/TeaserContent/0,,10373~1492305,00.html?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.qpr.co.uk%2Fpage%2Fsub%2FLiveCommentary%2F0%2C%2C10373~1492305%2C00.html%3F

    Reality Check!

Come on guys. Pardew isn't going to broadcast that he's got money to burn. Just like Harry often does, he says he's going for frees and loans and then pounces and spends big. We'd be a sitting target if we showed too much we're going to spend. We'll sign and sign big before the transfer window closes.

    Baird back as CB

Completely agree nickh. What's the point of a fresh start if we're going to bring back all those who played a part in where we ended up. In playing a part I consider players who left us in the lerch when the odds were down shouldn't ever be reconsidered.
  21. If I supply the steak Duncan, will you do us the favor of sticking it in! Think we need to hold a ceremony of burning a red faced decorated pig head in the center circle at St Mary's to be sure we have rid ourselves of the Gloucestershire pig farmer forever. Who for the new board Duncan? Jim Hone? or maybe Ken Dulieu? Wasn't it Jim Hone that gave Andrew Oldhow the job originally?
  22. And people are wondering why Wotte hasn't cleared off yet? Trouble brewing in the background. Pardew better move fast to sort things out or indeed he'll be gone come the end of November.
  23. Unlike .comsaint who looks at his waters first thing every day for all the news I start with BBC Sport followed by Newsnow Southampton. If there's nothing of interest I come to this site. Since MasterBates no longer does his early morning Echo thread no point of coming here till mid morning. I have to admit the OS started to improve but seems to have fell back again in the last few days due to the overload of stories they could put up. *** How about it then all you 'ampshire Hogs? Living on the Costa del Solentnowadays thanks to Mister Liebherr and the Skates Sheik of Arabie. Let's hope we don't end up with any ethnic cleansing of Cherries and Brighton Fairies.
  24. Not at all Gingeletiss. I'm just replying to spontaneous reaction to what exit2 posted last night. I have premonitions like previously with Burley's appointment, the Ides of March or saying Lowe would return and I'm often proved right. Yet, my intuition isn't always right. I was wrong over Strachan but was eventually glad to see him gone. I post the spontaneous feeling I get and sometimes others also have similar thoughts. I want this guy Pardew, these players, this club to succeed and get back where they rightly belong. I once was a very proud Brit living overseas and Southampton and Saints stood tall in the eyes of the world. Le Tiss still gets associated overseas as does Keegan playing for the club but beyond that currently we are nobodies. I want it to change, want to see Saints go places before my numbers up. I don't want to die with the memory of the likes of Lowe and the boardroom squabblers being all that Saints are known for. If we can't get over this man Lowe, forget all about him we'll never succeed. Forget him and kiss him goodbye......FOREVER.
  25. The minute I read Exit2's post last night the name of Alain Perrin flashed across my mind. This kind of statement is exactly what Perrin said the day he walsed into Olympique Marseille and then when he arrived at Farton Rust Bowl. As some have said only time will tell but it doesn't sit to well in my thoughts and hope he puts his words into talking on the pitch. And pretty soon or I can see him gone by the end of November. I wish to ask what has become of the appointment of Director of Football? Will Henderson and Svensson follow Wotte out the door in the coming days or will we see Wotte offered a new contract as Academy Director or Director of Football?
