Agree completely about Chelsea. Really hope Jack Stephens can step up next season with Saints first team squad. Swindon fan i know rates him highly as a defender and defensive midfielder.

Harry Reed; Morgan's Heir Apparent.

Very talented but still think he has to work on his range of passing. Thought he looked better today once he had more freedom with Cork acting as the shield. Personally if Cork signs his new contract and Reed keeps coming on as a player, that would make the expected departure of Morgan more palatable. -
Newcastle 1 - 2 Southampton Post Match euphoria

Glad for once we didn't get caught playing a team with a new manager. So happy to see Ashley dithering. To be fair to Carver, don't think his comment is that our of order. We were gutsy and defensively solid but if it was the other way round i'd be equally frustrated. -
Amazing transfer business by Saints this season. Every signing seems to have worked out. Great to see us blooding youngsters successfully too to provide our additional depth.

Really gutsy performance. Perfect tactical change by Koeman in Cork and Long on, which had an instant impact. Elia was clearly MOM. -
What a really fantastic gutsy victory.
-
Please get Cork on.
-
Personally i thought Reed has been poor. He was good midweek but today he's off the pace.
-
Two poor goals. Shame Fonte didn't bury the header at one nil. Wonder did forster not call or Gardos ignored the call for theirs. Thought Bertrand looks below par(maybe carrying injury, maybe just who he's up against.) Think Reed's looked a bit jaded today. I'd get Cork on immediately.

Personally think Kelvin is a perfectly reasonable(if not spectacular) backup in the short-term. The question for the summer is whether Cropper/Gazzaniga is considered good enough to be Forster's understudy in the long-term or whether the club need to go out and buy. What i've seen of Gazzaniga in the first team previously left me seriously doubting him technically.

Nice to see a professional if unspectacular win. Only downside was wanyama' injury.
-
Wonder if cork will be given 10/15 minutes.
-
Annoying losing vic chasing pointless ball forward 30 seconds from the break. Well if there's a position we can cope with losses it's centre mid. Davis, jwp, cork and reed still isn't bad for a couple of weeks till Morgan gets back.
-
Shame to lose Morgan, at least we have cork back to cover.
-
If we can get a back up target man maybe otherwise go with what we've got.
-
Ahh wasn't aware of that. I'd say play Tadic then, as i was thinking Elia could have done with more minutes on pitch.
-
For me something akin to Forster, Clyne, Gardos, Fonte, Targett, Reed, Cork, Morgan, Tadic, Long, Pelle
-
I certainly think we should mix it up a bit but not complete kids as i think we should still be taking it reasonably seriously. The likes of Targett, Reed, Corky, Long should play if fit. Think Pelle has to play every game he's fit and not suspended at moment as we haven't got an alternative.
-
Good, thought i saw Koeman looking unamused after the goal and wondered if it was about Tadic showing off his pecs.
-
For me there will always be an element of tugging but i want refs to punish the excessive one sided stuff. Clearly the ref saw Smalling because he warned him before the next corner.
-
I could just about accept if Neville's comment had of said Man City, Chelsea & Real Madrid but listing the likes of Liverpool/Arsenal/Utd etc who are below us felt silly.
-
So delighted we beat them after somehow losing to them at home. Great effort by the team but not sure how Mata didn't take either of the chances he was presented. Can't believe we are third in the table.

Jack Cork Finally Offered New Contract
Baird of the land replied to Andy Durman's topic in The Saints
Hopefully its a decent enough offer that he'll accept. -
I'd be tempted to make a change shortly. Take JWP off and Tadic or Long as we really seem to be struggling to get anything going in their half barring the first 5 minutes. Don't think we will be able to holdout if its 45 more minutes of pure rear guard action. The amount of times we have possession and we end up going back from their half to forster, who lumps it and we lose possession isn't good.

Don't like the space we are giving Rooney just to pick whatever pass he wants.
