250 games of Schneiderlin: Your favourite Morgan moments?
a1ex2001 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Good to see a reasonably positive thread, still a few idiots floating around! It's easy to forget just how good he is as his good work goes so under the radar with all the summer exodus I can't believe the only bid we received from him was a pittance from Spurs he is exactly the player Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd have been looking for! What ever happened to that chap that cam along on loan to keep him company when he first arrived? Used to love it when we signed a random friend for forign imports (Pahars and Delgado's buddies being woeful!) -
Imagine if Roy Hodgson had made such an odd decision the Liverpool fans would have gone mental and the press then torn him to shreds. It is such a weird double standards thing as Roy Hodgson has actually had some success in his career!

The trouble with the Champions league is the league section is dull and predictable all the big clubs are kept apart meaning they qualify easily after thrashing a couple of minnows the juicy games don't kick off until the knockout phase. So really we should be thanking Liverhampton for providing some entertaining thrills this season by failing to stuff the little boys and going home early well beaten by a much better setup team. Adam would have had a better view of that debacle if he'd stayed at Saints the TV coverage offers a much better viewing experience than the bench. No idea what Rodgers was doing when he took Rickie off, the media should be tearing him apart for such tactical suicide but the Liverpool/Rodgers luv in still seems to have some legs yet!

What does this make me? I was born in Manchester and spent my youth in South Wales but have been a Saints fan since the age of 7 for reasons that nobody has ever been able to explain it's not like we were even any good in the late 80's.
-
Will always be difficult to keep hold of England's first choice right back but that must make him a 20-30m player so we will have money to replace him and hopefully we have a decent one in mind or the youth team! Loosing our best players is always a risk so there is no point obsessing over it, enjoy them while they are here and clap them when they return Clyne has certainly served his time with us so I wouldn't begrudged him a move Man Utd on mega bucks.

God I hate this forum on days like today. We were beaten by the champions of England who had a player sent off who cost more than our starting line up. We lost our best midfielder at half time and had no cover. We are still third in the league and could quite easily beat Arsenal next up. Get some perspective you simpletons.
-
apparently so, missed that! Injuries were always likely to undo us a club our size can't absorb a couple of major losses as this shows Schniederlin goes of injured his natural replacement is out ill so we re-shuffle the back four and loose. Still a great season to be a saint, all those who are going o log on and rip the team to bits need to get some perspective a weaker City side than this beat Bayern Munich in the week! We are still a small club playing well above ourselves. This makes the league cup game in Sheffield even more important for me we need to get something out of the last two seasons of success and a trip to Wemberly would be great.
-
needed cork on the bench to cover Schniederlin and Wanyama but it's easy with hindsight. Beaten by a better side but there is no embarrassment in that they spent more on the awful Mangala than we spent on our entire first team today.
-
lol he was never going to be that good but injury free I think he would have made a decent premier league player like Nathan Dyer has. Good but not quite out of the top draw.

Not a great shortlist probably going to go to Hamilton who has all the personality of a spoilt teenage heiress and the class to match. As has been said if it was up to me on that list Max Whitlock would get the nod he is phenomenally talented, works incredibly hard in a sport that is never going to make him a rich man and gives back to his sport. Would also like to see Jo Pavey get some recognition she has worked incredibly hard over her career in the shadow of Paula and has finally in her twilight years achieved a medal she so richly deserved after having her lottery funding removed for being to old.
-
This Holmes was quality, he was hugely impressive when he first made the Derby first team as a teenager but injuries have robbed him of a career. In the unlikely event he stays fit he is a cut well above that level much like Connolly. Wish him well when he did make the pitch for us he played well and was committed to the cause didn't he leave the pitch in tears after his knee went the second or third time as he realised his career was effectively a bust?

indeed this post is why this forum needs a like button!

CONFIRMED - Mane joins Liverpool for £34m + £2m addons
a1ex2001 replied to toe_punt's topic in The Saints
The reaction to yesterdays game has been nothing short of comedy gold, we played well enough and 9 times out of 10 we would have won that game on the balance of play and chances. None of our players were awful they just weren't at the heights they have been so far this season and Forster made a horrible gaff that all goal keepers do occasionally ie Boruc getting beat by the stoke keeper last season or even the great Peter Schmeichel Mane has look like he has huge amounts of potential this season it's a big step up from the Swiss league and he will take time to fully settle but so far he has done brilliantly and for my money will get better and better. If this thread isn't a joke/troll then it's embarrassing. -
Chris Baird is at west brim isn't he?
-
Would have rickie back as cover but I'm not sure he's come, why swap Liverpools starting line up for our bench Love the quote from the Liverpool message board!
-
I only got 19 but I forgot until 10 seconds to go that current or ex recent player like lambert count, my mind still doesn't think of them as premier league gaol scorers!
-
He has or more accurately is serving the punishment handed down by the court to ban him from football is part of this weird modern trend for the public to be outraged by everything. Yes he has been found guilty of a serious crime but why should he be banned from a well paid high profile job should bankers convicted of serious (non financial) crimes be banned from earning large sums? He hasn't apologised because that would end his appeal as it would be an admission of guilt and he clearly believes he is innocent of the charge. The case has always been an odd one as his co defendant was cleared of the same charge and it's interesting that the review has been fast tracked, if the conviction is overturned should he be allowed to play again or is the allegation enough to end his career?
-
I never mentioned divine right and they certainly don't have one but the current market says if you play premier league football for ten years you and yours will be setup for good if your sensible. If someone said to me do a crap job for the next two years and you'll never need to work again I'd sure as hell take it and why shouldn't he just because he rose to the top late? Don't be so silly!
-
The money aspect really does come into it with Rickie he has had a very short career at the top on real good money and hasn't previously had the chance to make much in signing on fees after big money moves. I bet his transfer this summer and wages at Liverpool have massively boosted his retirement pot meaning him and his get to live a noticeably better life when he hangs up his boots. It's easy to forget he spent most of his career in the lower leagues earning much more modest sums and until he signed for us was probably planning for a career after football which he may no longer need. Now back to laughing at lovren who really goes look to have fared the worst out of all the leavers this summer anyone want him back?

Your trolling powers are weak old man.
-
For me that's the point, people are always putting attention seeking look at me stuff in biographies but this is trying to tell it how it really is nobody talks about the crap and the negative when there name is attached to it.
-
This for me, would massively reduce the number of games and up the value of them all getting rid of this pointless league stage where clubs play awful sides as they simply can't cope or don't care!
-
Sadly I think he will either retire at the end of the season or finish his career on loan in the championship, which isn't really the fairy tale ending his story deserved.
-
I'll be amazed and disappointed if he is ignored again, he has been a stand out player for us not only this season but last as well and right back is a slot England have struggled with since Gary Neville retired it's becoming a big like left back before Ashley Cole!
