  1. Nothing like shooting for the stars! It seems bizarre that we as fans are happy for such mediocrity. If just above mid-table whets the appetite then fine, but having decades in the top flight and 1 trophy of note is not what gets me excited. At the end of the day it is trophies that will get the stadium full longterm. I don't want Saints to follow others down the overspend route but many of the clubs around us are getting stadiums that are double ours, that will bring extra income and in turn a better chance of competing with the very best. It is a catch 22 situation, I grant you that but as the population grows and the club wishes to give us a worldwide fanbase, having a 32000 ground will hardly make us glamourous to people not born in the city or locality. I know how ever much silver polish Pompey use on their FA cup they will not be able to get rid of the tarnish, but it will always be a thorn that they have lived the dream and whilst they are languishing in the lower reaches, that success is the reason they still get very good crowds. Had they not won the cup and experienced the glory few years the stadium would have 6-7k crowds, like they did when they were down there 20-30 years ago. Anyway you have kindly informed me that the club do not have the desire to grow by having the capacity expanded, although I believe had Marcus still been alive he may have invested more to gain the success he dearly wished for.
  2. A modicum of success. like a trophy or two would change things. The top 6 clubs have/are increasing their capacities. there is no guarantee they will fill it either. I myself would not advocate expanding at present but that doesn't make me right either. As I said before many said we didn't need to leave the Dell. Anyway onwards and upwards. your self confidence of always being right makes interesting reading, You don't need the schoolyard derision
  3. I cant see how you have been proved right. Did i miss the new stadium being enlarged and now put back to the current size. Surely that is the only way to prove your point. Some said it was pointless leaving the Dell as we didnt fill that every game. It is as always in your judgement that you have been proved correct. In another life did you design the M25 and only allow for 3 lanes as more wouldnt be needed or that oil would run out before the year 2000 as i was told many times in the 1970's. I cant be bothered to read all your posts to also prove your other claim that you never said we couldnt get into the CL, but Iam of the opinion you did. Your points are normally valid but you do let yourself down with the constant school playground taunts to posters about cry babies and boo hoo etc. For your info i suggest it gives posters the opinion that perhaps you are the cry baby in real life as you need to talk down or belittle other genuine posters on here.
  4. Staying at Spurs is far more likely than if at us , as he knows the cream of the squad will not be sold every summer. He can build, he may lose the odd superstar but not anything that moves if a great offer comes in
  5. but even more scary the bloody judge fell for it!!! Conspiracy i say
  6. I havent been for a couple of seasons as i resent paying £50 to subsidise players on massive wages with the inability to pass t their own player within 5 yards. The players who get you off your seat are worth it but so many players are fortunate and find themselves in Pl sides and on massive overpaid salaries. I had rarely missed a game in 45 years until now. It is not the case of being able to afford, its a case of not wanting to afford. I can sit back from a distance and see how the fans are being treated as mugs and squeezed all the time. I normally have no time for the Scouse fans but i have to raise my hat to them on this occasion, although iam sceptical as to the small print. Yes they may not categorise each game but perhpas put all games at the mid price which will then become a raise.
  7. the sending off and now he has a 'reputation' will cost our club £5m on the transfer fee we will get. As for the 'horror tackle' quote, that is laughable. I like the way Bertrand did not roll over and play act, but i do sometimes wonder if we played fire with fire. Cheaters do prosper in the modern game
  8. Funny that now Harry is not around Sky deadline day has become a non event lol
  9. Bale...wow that would be wonderful and whilst it is zero chance the odds are better than Ricardo Fuller turning up!!!
  10. i can't believe you didnt put Pompey in the list, they played AC Milan you know. I think your choices are pretty spot on, but I cant get Blackburn to be on that list. Yes they did win the title but that was unusual circumstances due to Jack Walkers money. Perhaps Wolves as whilst they didnt win much in the period, they were there and abouts for a long time
  11. exactly why stay loyal to anyone. If Lallana does for Liverpool what KD did for us they will soon love him. The difference being that Lallana doesnt have the class that KD has. He was not the worlds best keeper but he put in many performances that gained us points that like RL's goals helped gain us promotion.I dont know KD but i have heard many of his actions not only on the pitch from someone there that makes me admire him.
  12. posts like yours are the perfect explanation why players like lallana etc dont bother to stay loyal to a team as at the end of the day so many fans are ungrateful ######
  13. Are the Falklands in the Argentinian territorial waters? If so they have fair and rightful claim if not the island is independent and can ask for protection or rule by anyone they like I would have thought.
  14. When I saw the title 'comedians' I thought it was another thread on Pompey and their fans lol
  15. 'These pillagers were intent on finally destroying Pompey with their greed but they hadn’t reckoned on the formation of the Pompey Rebel Alliance'. Funnily enough the greed was overlooked by the Rebel Alliance until famine arrived, now of course the baddies who bought them the glory are now seen as the villains. All involved had their part to play, the owners, the players , the fans and also the News who enjoyed eating off the pillagers table

    Footy Leaks

When are the leaks going to cooncentrate on pompey of their glory years. There must be loads of stuff that would make decent reading

Tadic mentioned in one of the first ones!!!!
  18. I assume them going further than us in the cup will mean there will be shirts embroidered with this below their club badge. Fair play though they beat Ipswich over 2 legs and it is now a minnows versus giants Fa cup match. Bound to earn plenty of TV and attendance revenue
  19. I think a lot on here wished you were at West Ham as well lol
  20. I think Saint Lards post is correct, the pitch normally looks like a bowling green and te other day I wondered if we had changed our groundsman. Whilst it has been the wettest December I suspect we have had other months of heavyrainfall and the pitch being able to cope. Personally if we play as we have lets leave it like it is , lets go back to the days of the Baseball ground!!! Distant memories but it was a magic time to watch football
  21. Lol CB, you made me chuckle
  22. I have been critical about the club recently, but this is a great signing. I know that he is injury prone but IMO worth the risk. If we can get 2-3 seasons from him then he is an absolute bargain. Certainly cheered me up
  23. Surely Reed or Gallagher must be, reading on here they are fantastic
  24. Prices should drop but at least 30% not go up. Fans produce the atmosphere that have made the PL what it is. if the grounds were empty Sky would not want to pay big bucks as the product would not be as good. Anyway if we did pay more we would be told it was going to be ploughed in and spent but doubt it would be
