Britain moves a step closer to a corporate dictatorship
OldNick replied to Sheaf Saint's topic in The Lounge
FFS the banks can move abroad when they like and avoid tax. i have no time for the greed the banks showed in the past, but iam happy that they produce wealth and taxes that keep our economy going. The NHS produces no income for the nation, if we have no wealth providers we have no NHS. When will the Guardian readers understand that it is only through UK PLC making money will we provide for the weak. The oil and gas revenues have been wasted on our social system, instead of investing in the infrastructure of the nation we spent the money on welfare. You of course look after the weak but labours excesses wasted so much of our resources. The Tories will do so as well. Selling off the forests will not make much difference to the majority of us, there is no way that there will not be strings attached and that the more accessible forest will still be there for the man in the street, but i doubt many of us have ever really gone out into the forests apart from a picnic at Brockenhurst, except for a few Guardian readers of course. We have to duck and dive and make the UK the best place for companies to invest and so create jobs, making us Tax competitive will be a major way in doing so. I will be a victim as i'm not rich enough to emigrate to a tax haven, but as i have done all my working life i will pay my fair share and get on with it. -
they might not be jokers. I wouldn't count on them being dud. I hope their interest does not materialise

...as in your claim that he will be as good as Bale. Not that he is not going to be decent

3m now and with adds on may be a better deal than 10m now and no add ons. i doubt the club will have much say on the final figure, as if you may have missed NA's interview where he said they were not going to get involved in a bidding war but what is best for Ox (to me that says the agents/parents have made that clear, they decide) I think Bale is better than the other 2. I remember seeing him on his debut and coming away knowing we had unearthered a massive star, I will wait to decide about Ox.

the more I see Matty's behavior the more I'm glad he did not become chairman. I wonder if the old pals would be more in attendance than fans. Matty please keep to your punditry and leave politics alone as you do seem a tad naive and easily used by so called friends. Matt has been a true legend on the pitch, and I hope long term that is not ruined by foolhardy attacks on the club

Lol i do hope you are joking.....then again

it is about opinions. At present my priority is for us to get promotion, to expect Ox to make a great impact on that will be something. IMO he needs to be taken out of the firing line for a few games. His last 3 performances have been below par and Im tired of hearing all the hype about him by the media. His oace got us a penalty the other night but those direct runs he was making seem to have disappeared as teams are now doubling up on him. I believe my thoughts about taking the money and using it on someone we already know can gets goals and results is pertinent. Ox will be leaving us, we may get another 5m for him but that will be offset if we fail in the promotion chase. It may be that Adkins decisions not putting pace up front will cost us, CMS at Boro showed us what a pacey forward can do, Antonio has that with power (Nguessan as well) I really dont think Ox at present has it(power). He will be a fine player but I'm a team man and feel the whole is more important than the individual. NC has made the decision to keep him, but that doesnt stop me wondering what if.
-
I rarely if ever dismiss a player on his first game or appearance. It is very harsh to do so, I just am doubtful, not saying he is rubbish (yet). He did look lost and had no touch, but I will give him time, but i felt N'Guessan deserved another run out instead of this new player as N'guessan caused trouble with his power and strength, something that the boro players had already shown problems with RL. I support the players as much as most and had many disagreements with people when players like Crouch and Marsden first played.
-
You may be right although from the little we saw against Peterboro i doubt it about the last signing.
-
3m with add ons would have done nicely. I dont believe Ox is equipped to change enough games for us to have the luxury of him.I know the majority will agree with me but that is how i see it without my rose coloured specs on. Antonio did have the know how and strength to do so.

all the anti KD posters on here answer this question, if KD had not saved the 1 on 1 before we scored do you believe we would have got a point? As in the game against Exeter a midfield run let them through on goal, i suppose that is Davis fault. Some on here have said get Lee from Brentford, did you see him flapping away last night? Richard Wright doesnt make the first team and has been loaned out by Ipswich, he has made some real awful errors, but he is a super hero on here. He played well when he was with us, but he has been found wanting. Anti Niemi was probably our best keeper for a couple of decades and he rarely came off his line Shilts also (the ball has changed since those days) I remeber my childhood hero Pat jennings come out and take the ball one handed, but the ball was different and didnt move like it does now. There is no way the second goal was down to KD.
-
personally I would have sold Ox got good add ons and then bought Antonio from Reading. We know he can make a difference in games.
-
I blame Adkins, he kept LB on far too long, aand should have brought N'Guessan on to give us some zip. He put everyone back for the last few minutes and so we couldnt get out of defence
-
The first goal was down to Seaborne, but KD should have done better. If you notice the ball doesnt bounce as it normally would . We should have been losing if it was not for KD's great save early on, do you think we would have got anything from the game had we gone 1 down? To blame him for the 2nd Lol
-
IMO it is high risk. You demoralize KD who IMo has done little wrong and IF Bart does have a mare then you have lost out. I like Bart but I still recall his performance at Exeter a couple of seasons back and only those who saw it would be able to understand my concerns.

on my version I can see them jumping on

Is that a fake? ive looked it up on the BBC and nothing about it

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
OldNick replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
Being a saints fan I have not been to the new wembley before. my experience of going to big events s that you don't get room to move and not get to the bar. It also was going to give the opporunity to take 2 youngsters who had not been able to get a ticket so they could enjoy the experience and join in. We were going to leave them at this bar in comfort to watch the final on TV and like at the cup final in Cardiff join with the many fans who travelled without tickets to enjoy the occasion. Apart from the 2 hookers who fell out of the club and NI having to clear up broken glass and beer off the floor before he could let fans in, we were greeted by the dirtiest seediest club I have encountered. It was a shambles including people outside selling more tickets for this place when it was said to be a limited number. I could forgive NI more if he had said he was duped and had not seen the place, but it turned out he had been there before a cup final. You may be the cleverest person on here and know that there is easy pubs to go to where you can take young fans, i didn't and thought this was a brilliant idea. I was duped by a fellow fan. We left and had to find 2 spare tickets off of touts....they werent touts but other fellow saints fans who wanted £50 profits on the tickets. So the cost born were even higher, please forgive me if I have no sympathy for him -
The beginning of the end for the Premier League cash cow?
OldNick replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
i would change at a drop of a hat, the only thing is that Sky then might not serve the quality in future as they have less revenue. -
you forget i have seen you play in goal in the forum match.......I don't think the DVD shows a faultless display, although i will admit you did make a difference, and I do recall when you charged out of goal and nearly was beheaded by Griffo's high boot, you used your head on that occasion. If you really analyis that particular goal there are many players at fault. The midfield for not closing the passer down and also 1 of them following the run, Davis for not getting to the ball first, I will not point the finger at the defenders.

Missed the ball by 4ft, you are having a laugh. One minute you say he should be sweeping up the next he should be staying on the 6 yard line!!!! seems that you are as indecisive as KD is supposed to be

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
OldNick replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
there were 6 of us who were treated badly by Nicks organisation and never was a refund offered. I know NI has been going for most of his life and a die hard but he did things that cost the club revenue. He also misled the fans on the Wembley event (he was part of the organisation not solely him of course, to allow a Pompey fan rip us off was even more galling). He is not banned but the privilege of a S/T has been withdrawn, there is of course a difference. -
i still have nopt seen the Exeter goal on tv but it seems that many who have say that it was not a mistake. Blame the midfielder for not tracking the midfield runner, so why not blame MS instead of the keeper who tried to make up for that error. Had you been behind the goal on tuesday and seen the Exeter player line up the shot and see it going through some players destined for the net, only for KD to somehow get to it, you may grudgingly accept he helped change the course of the result. I am not anti Bart as he is a friend of one of my family, but I dont wish to risk changing a keeper who has so many times saved us points. Iam concerned how many times the opposition seem to get one on ones on us, when it seems a rarity for us to do so.
